I’ve been shredded ever since I picked up a barbell at 15, I’m currently 27 190ish pounds completely natural. I used to eat whatever tf I wanted and I stayed lean (would that have been the case if I hadn’t been lifting nearly everyday… idk) but I ended up with gut issues and forced me about 4 years ago to start watching what I eat and now I feel better all around and I don’t feel sluggish and groggy constantly , it’s crazy how accustom you become to a certain state and you don’t realize what you are missing out on when you actually feel healthy. Hope this perspective is helpful for someone. If anyone is curious about more details just respond!
I second this! People oftentimes fail to realize a healthy diet gives you the most optimal performance. I’m on the slimmer side(very active metabolism). What I ate didn’t give me much adverse affects in terms of body composition, but when it came to performance is when you realize the difference. Eating a cleaner diet makes you feel so much clearer and much more efficient, whether you’re in a state of rest or action. People, stop compromising your general wellbeing for a look/aesthetic. You might get away with a garbage diet in the short-term, but not long. Don’t overdo supplements. Eating only chicken, broccoli, and rice is nutrient deficient and really is a MISERABLE lifestyle. Don’t gorge on junk and processed food. Incorporate Whole Foods and natural produce(fruit,veggies, herbs, etc). I wouldn’t recommend the standard food pyramid where you eat a bunch of rabbit food, bread, and only a handful of complete proteins. Eat more protein.

Ppl say I’m even leaner but every time I’ve checked through the body scan or having someone use the skin fold it’s been high 7% and that’s with trying to bulk constantly.(obviously sometimes I’m not as strict on bulking as others but it’s always a goal to increase weight m)Every time ppl guess my weight they think I’m 200 + but I think I’m just super responsive to creatine plus when I have a pump I look way bigger, specifically in my shoulders lol wish it stayed like that.

Got a cousin who recently started to loss weight and working out due to having his own gym at his apartment. When my mom and our aunt asked him what’s his diet, he simply told us he still get to eat what he wants, just food prep. He used to be the biggest one and now he’s the well fit and I motivated me to catch up.

Its calories in calories out+protein at the end of the day. You technically could hit your protein and eat just candy the rest of the day and keep muscle
In this day and age especially, eating clean and healthy 100% of the time isn't realistic. It's also incredibly mentally draining. Having some kind of tasty treat regularly will help you stay happy.

Sure, I look at a few bodybuilder's facebook profiles and they're constantly posting pictures of eating out. Burgers, pizzas, eating straight out of tubs of ice cream etc. These guys aren't eating perfect meals every day. We're eating cleaner than they. The difference is they are taking steroids.

I get your point but waking up early to go to the gym doesn't make you have better gains its not like going at 3am makes you have loads more test. You can be lazy most of the time then go to the gym in the evening , doesn't take that much discipline to max out gains on steroids .Takes alot more discipline to cut weight and lose body fat by doing cardio for most I think. But yeah they will get their protein in and eat decent.
I find it weird how people associate the gym with discipline. In my opinion out of all other sports it is the least disciplined apart from like chess or fishing and stuff.
