Canada has submarines which can operate in the Arctic all year long. So does US and Russia. US has the most.

The economic facts are simple, as noted by the US Energy Information Administration, the area north of the Arctic Circle contains over 90 billion barrels of oil, representing some 13 percent of the world’s unexploited oil reserves, and more than 42 billion cubic meters of natural gas - about 30 percent of the world’s untapped gas resources.
Unfortunately for the West 80 percent of these assets lie in Russian territory.

Protecting syria, reveal of a new generation tanks, got biggest profit from wheat among the states worldwide or a lot of states want to join Russia in their plans or being their ally because of their plans for future

It's because the Russian government spends heavily on their military. The normal Russian people, however, are actually pretty poor. The GDP per capita of Russia is significantly lower than the rest of the developed world, and the Russian economy has been struggling for a while now.

That reminds me of the time in the Simpsons in which Bart and Nelson were rolling an apple and an orange to see which one would get to the end of the bus first, and Ralph (Iceland) tries to roll a banana, with no effect. Iceland just doesn't have the size or wealth to compete with the US and Russia in the Arctic. Still, the "Grapefruit" of Norway or some other country might surprise both the US and Russia. You'd have to see the clip from the show to understand.

Russia's glonass is up and is better than gps in the northern hemisphere. So what navigation problems are you talking about? The base is already reopened and is being reconstructed, everything is half way done. Russia has more than enough money to affort a side project such as this. It holds 3'rd largests reserves in the world, and it's military budget had been increasing steadily for past few years. So please tell why would Russia have money trouble with reopening one naval/airbase?

Валерий Ревякин America is an immigrant country. I have known many Russians, I have gone to their weddings, and their churches. Our family business has employed several Russians over the years and we have heard their stories. I have been to Europe and Africa but sadly not Russia. But my sister has. I do not watch CNN and VOA is not broadcast in the USA. I gain my information first hand from people and from the internet. I am well aware of government paid commentators on the internet. Chinese commentators were getting paid $0.50 a comment. I hope your paid as well as them.

Growth of population from 160.5 millions in the end of 1930 to the 168 millions in the end of 1933
Official statistics based on the registered birth and death rates implied that the 1937 census should show a population of 170-172 million
These numbers reflect entire Soviet Union, not just Russia. Take away Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakstan and Baltics population.
