Thank You. Most of my Repros that I have now are ones I have made myself. Better quality control, option to reprogram if something goes wrong and there is a level of satisfaction you get from making your own. As mentioned in this video though, you definitely need to determine when it's worth it and when it isn't.
@@jesterscorner879 That is incredibly cool, and not something that I thought to be doable! That makes complete sense from a quality aspect. The sea of bad options is seemingly neverending. Absolutely great content!
@@squanch86 Thank You. When people talk about buying the mass produced repros from China, I always point out that the following are all better options for the money: 1) Cosmetically Flawed Originals (sometimes the ugly ducks can save you big) 2) English Friendly Japanese Originals 3) Making your own Repros with the likes of the N64 Blaster from Retro Stage 4) Multi-Cart (ie Everdrive, ED64 Plus, Super 64) 5) Emulation on PC. The only thing with the Japanese option is you will either need to modify the cartridge tray slot on the console (remove the 2 plastic bumps in the back) or buy a cheap donor cart and swap the backs. 3.8mm gamebit for the cartridges or 4.5mm gamebit for the console. Both are cheap and readily available via amazon, ebay, etc.
Are you telling me that the Repro version of Ocarina Of Time: Master Quest was a waste of money, and that I should get an Everdrive to download more and more versions of Smash Remix so I'm not stuck with just one version?
No, I'm saying that it is a route to consider for the future as you find more titles that fit into the unreleased titles and hacks range that you are interested in.
Also master quest was never released for N64 and that's why they made reproductions master quest N64 games! I'm happy to just have the original ocarina of time N64!
The biggest issue is that the games with onboard game saves are more prone to early failure and quit saving. I have yet to see any conclusive proof that they wreck the console though.
@@jesterscorner879 well okay then we'll see until someone posts about it or records a video of it when it happens to them or is even for n64 repros or any other fake console games there is! In the meantime I would rather want real authentic N64 cartridges in any good or worn condition they're in so that I know it's a real N64 cartridge!
@@MarkFendy-sw7hnin my country sometimes i find them in the trash broken so bad without any labels i take donors carts so bring them back to working state..
What value lost? I bought the Japanese version of several of these for less than the cost of buying a repro and they are essentially all in English. You can also get a multicart that will play every N64 game import or otherwise for the cost of about 3 repros.
I really appreciate this video. Jumping into the repro side of collecting is interesting. Absolutely great video (and awesome shirt)!

I heard somewhere that fake repro n64 games wears out sooner looses progress and damages affects your n64!
Is that true?

Add Ogre Battle 64 to the list. Does anyone out there have a repro copy of this game that doesn't crash mid-game or have save issues?
Not Surprised. Definitely best to go multicart/emulation for that game if you don't want to pay up for the original.
Emulate
So cheep ... If they fail I just toss them in the trash.
True but as mentioned there are often legitimate alternatives that barely cost more than the repro or in a few cases cost even less.
Repo games for the win
Repros are by any measurable standard the worst value for the money. Literally every alternate is better money spent.
every year, this video get outdated even more
Certain games have risen in cost, but many have actually dropped and the Japanese alternatives are still cheap.
This guy is just bitter he lost all the value from this game
