The N64 Games You Should Never Buy As Repros
Thank you for this review. I just bought it because I saw that it had a feed tray. The tray is a joke! I assume this is where the legal paper goes as well. I haven't figured that out yet. I wish I would have seen this before I bought it.
Honestly it's really the only downside to this printer. Both my wife and I were baffled by the clumsy nature of the feeder. No other printer I have used is this bad. You would be correct that this is where the legal goes.
I have a 1 year old reef tank and always wanted a leopard wrasse but was waiting on my LFS to get in a good specimen. My LFS had a regular female and a black leopard wrasse in the store which both have been eating prepared foods for a week. I put them both in my tank 2 days ago and they have yet to come out of the sand bed. I know this is typical, so I will be patient. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this awesome fish.
Did the Wrasses ever come out?
Lovley fish, you may want to consider getting a deeper sand bed to keep this one happy !
The sand bed is deeper than it looks. About 2-3 inches and I definitely don't want it any more than that.
At my local antique mall they had a vendor that had 4 Japanese N64 games, Mario Kart, Smash, Kirby, and Yoshi’s Story, all $8 a piece. Was a pretty great grab although I do already have Mario Kart and Smash’ US versions.
Nice Finds. All well worth it.
Thanks. Didn't know this. Have wanted to play super bowling for years now. Not interested in reselling. Just want to play it so this is a big help. Thanks again my man. 60 bucks sure beats $650. 👍
It's a pretty easy adjustment from the Japanese version.
Heyo! Love the video! Anyone know if dr mario would he easy in japanese?
Looks like it was only ever released on the Gamecube (Japanese Version). This site would be an excellent resource as it does a side by side comparison: themushroomkingdom.net/mario-in-japan/drm64
RIP coral beauty?
Yes, unfortunately. I had it for 6 years and then it literally vanished overnight. Now I have an African Flameback Pygmy Angel.
@@jesterscorner879 my condolence..Did you add anything new prior to the event? Well I'll let you know how long mine will last, it's been 3 years now..*cross fingers*
What are the dimensions of your tank?
Standard 90 gallon 4 foot long, 2 feet tall and 18 inches for width.
Haven’t purchased my speedwoofer yet. But on 8/27/24 I contacted RSL in regards to asking if their powered sub would pare with my vintage Yamaha receiver About 2 hrs later I got an email back. They found a picture of the back of my receiver on line, had taken a screenshot and used it to make a wiring diagram for me. Along with an in depth tutorial of what and why I was wiring this way. That kind of customer service along with reviews like this have me purchasing a RSL speedwoofer without any hesitation.
They are definitely a cut above the rest. Had some intermittent issues with a loose power cable and they had one to me in a few days after just a brief discussion of the problem.
is the code for DMI the same as Disney Movie Club? I have seen codes on DVDs but not DMI codes
Yes, all the points carried over. Sadly we just got word that it's shutting down so use your points now.
Hey what happened to your 2 Wrasses?
Sadly both passed away recently. I have plans for another Wrasse just not sure which one.
@@jesterscorner879dang sorry to hear that. Was it due to old age?
@@AbsoluteZero6714Pencil Wrasse I have no clue. It simply vanished. The Christmas Wrasse I found dead on the Sand Bed after about 2 years of ownership. I will have another update soon.
I thought my urchin was buldozing my zoas also .. turned out it was my one spot fox face eating them and ypu have one .....so a thought
In this case though the frags were actually knocked over rather than eaten. The culprit was a combo of the urchins and poor quality super glue gel we were using. We switched glues and haven't really had a problem since. Keeping corals on frag plugs until they grow out into a colony helps too.
Clean your fan vent on tower! Lol
I do periodically. I just hadn't done it for a while at the time of filming.
@jesterscorner879 just being an idiot!!! Lol
somebody needs to time how long it takes to pump 1 gallon so we can see if it really is 800gph. im guessing its half that.
Yeah, I never really buy the claimed specs but it's pretty strong if you are doing a smaller tank. I use the same pump on my saltwater tank and it takes about 2-3 minutes to do 10 gallons.
Your voice sounds like what I imagine a Flame Hawkfish would sound like.
I always imagined that a Flame Hawkfish would sound more like the Greedy version of Daffy Duck. It would fit the personality to boot. This is exactly how I imagine one would sound and act. ruclips.net/video/RKMNPQ35OUc/видео.htmlfeature=shared
This guy is just bitter he lost all the value from this game
What value lost? I bought the Japanese version of several of these for less than the cost of buying a repro and they are essentially all in English. You can also get a multicart that will play every N64 game import or otherwise for the cost of about 3 repros.
Repo games for the win
Repros are by any measurable standard the worst value for the money. Literally every alternate is better money spent.
I have a problem with it making lines on my picture does your do that?
No, mine are consistent, but results definitely vary based on the type of paper used as well as the toner.
Nice tank set up!
Thank You
thx for the demo on using this unit
Thank you
Male or Female?
Male.
Thanks so much for this video! I just changed the tray on my N64 to the US and Japan one, and I started buying Japanese versions of games I liked. Sometimes the US versions are crazy expensive
Yes, there are a few that can save you a fair bit of money with little to no compromise.
My flamehawkfish is my favourite fish in my tank. He's been with me through thick and thin + a velvet disease once before. He survived. Trooper. They have actual personalities. He is an absolute pig as well. He will eat 3 fishes worth of food.
Yes, mine definitely has a unique personality. Decided on his first night in the tank that a Tuxedo Urchin made a good perch.
I got the smash bros for 8 bucks with shipping and taxes on ebay, don’t even need the US version and my son loves it
It's arguably the number 1 value in this category since there is very little compromise in terms of language barrier, but it offers significant savings over it's US based counterpart.
How is he with shrimp
Not good. Went after my cleaner shrimp.
Not good. Went after my cleaner shrimp.
Ive had mine with my coral banded shrimp for a year, but hes only about 2/3 grown
I have a pb3000 (had 2 sold 1) and my jbl 550p destroys it in the midrange bass, the svs is useless for anything over 20hz. Below 20hz it destroys a lot of subs out there. It shakes the entire house. It really digs low and SLAMS hard but I can’t wait to get rid of it. Midrange bass doesn’t exist. It sucks for music and almost all movies. Waiting on my back order Rsl 10s mk2 let’s see how that goes. Agree on 7:54
Agh opinions very I appreciate the video but your very wrong have you ever had one I have 2 a80s on a 100 gallon doing very well they pack a bigger punch then you think with a pretty wide spread to has a 7 to 10 year life span depending on your maintenance.. and it dose program very well on both there controllers with a lunar cycle and cloud setting witch I wouldn’t use either put 2 or 3 of them on a 100 gallon you will be surprised my green slimmer seems to love it mind you the rest of my coral are all softy’s but I think it was well worth the price I started with both on a 55 gallon and tried my luck with them when I moved it over to a 100 gallon never a problem yet should test with them before saying this
There spectrum is clashed together before even leaving the lances meaning it breaks the surface better then most lights as well you should watch kessils video they made on them ..
Very nice, I just ordered a matched pair, will have them next week :-)
Thank You. Hopefully they will be a good addition to your reef. They can be a bit aggressive towards other fish and can be problematic for shrimp though.
Hey mate, is ur starfish still alive ? I got one myself, and I'm scared with all the research I've done. My tank is well established, 3yo.
Unfortunately no, it passed away recently. I might try a red tiled in the future but other than that, I am done with them.
Gorgeous!
Thank You. It definitely stands out in the tank.
every year, this video get outdated even more
Certain games have risen in cost, but many have actually dropped and the Japanese alternatives are still cheap.
So cheep ... If they fail I just toss them in the trash.
True but as mentioned there are often legitimate alternatives that barely cost more than the repro or in a few cases cost even less.
You need real live plants 💀 this is their home not their day care
Haven't had this setup in about 3 years now. Move on to a 20 Long setup. I gave up on the fake plants since they become algae magnets as the tank matures.
Excellent review and presentation.
Thank You
Gorgeous! 😍
Thank You, it is probably my favorite fish in my tank right now.
Should I get glossy or mat I need to see a item of both or each of them
I generally recommend matte as it's a more natural look. The only catch is that a premium white vinyl paper has to be used. The cheap matte paper is pretty bad.
I wondered if I was the only one confused by the document feeder, turns out I'm not alone. It's surprisingly bad, and doesn't even fold out like my old one did, even though it has those pushable tabs that lead you to believe it could. No idea what their purpose is.
Agreed. I love this printer in every other respect but the document feeder is by far the worst design on any printer I have ever owned. There is literally no rhyme or reason to the feeder mechanism on this thing. Either you stick the paper in too far and it jams or you don't stick it in far enough and it complains there is no paper. The only time I get it to work it's usually multiple attempts and sheer dumb luck.
Have u seen the gex msa game ? The cartridge , manual n box r written in Spanish , is the only one I’ve seen like that
Yes, I have a loose cart of it. There are other box and manual MSAs.
I would love to get a speedwoofer 10s but here in Australia it just costs to much to import one vs getting a pb1000 delivered to my door for about $350 less. I'm sure I would be happy with either though as this will be my first ever "proper" subwoofer. Thank you for sharing your experience on these subs
We definitely are spoiled for choice here in the US. If I lived elsewhere the SVS would probably be my top choice since it's more cost effective. Definitely not a bad option. I still own both.
Frig these are hard to find... I thought I'd cheat and search Yahoo Auctions Taiwan, but everything for sale there is just regular Japanese market carts, no Taiwan sticker
The beetle car is kind of legendary in Brazil so that's cool it has a different title. "The Beetle Adventures", the title translates to. Haha. Also Brazil got that model of VW beetle a little later than North America. That model of Beetle only came out in 2000 in Brazil, so if the game was also released in 1999 there, then they were playing a game about a car they didn't even have on the market lol... Poor guys
I overspent for it, but don't have any regrets. Even by Brazilian standards this variant isn't common.
Do you think there was a defect with the MSA Rampage labels? I can read and write Portuguese so I went on mercado livre and you're absolutely right. Midway branded Rampage carts are fine, but the GT Interactive ones are all shredded and peeling like I've never seen with other carts. What the heck...
I don't think it was a defect. I would say that in general the MSA carts aren't taken care of as well as their USA counterparts. US carts definitely have a significant numbers advantage over MSAs though so you have a lot more options to choose from. I have seen examples of the MSA Rampage titles in good condition but they are hard to find and generally way overpriced.
@@jesterscorner879 interesting... I found some Brazilian gaming forums of guys discussing the "Gradiente" games. I guess these were games produced in Manaus, Brazil by a company called Gradiente on license. The boxes, manuals and cart labels are in Portuguese, from what I can tell only 3 or so games are actually translated to Portuguese in game (south park, fifa 99, and another random one) Guys on forums seem to complain about these Gradiente games (they call them jogos nacionais / national games) Vs jogos Americanos. Specifically that the labels are bad and that the cartridge plastic is very poor. Indeed some of them posted photos and some of their carts literally crumble away. The plastic completely breaking off in chunks. A few people seem to agree that their edition of majoras mask had particularly bad plastic, interesting... Gradiente consoles are also a little different... It seems like they were made in Japan like regular consoles, but gradiente did an internal mod on the video to make it output in PAL-M. Pal-m is a bit of a misnomer because the signal is very similar to ntsc, so converting is really simple even at the time I am now curious how these MSA games were marketed along side the Gradiente games in Brazil Thank you sir for introducing me to this rabbit hole of n64 collecting. It's much more interesting than frickin Sculptors cut... Yawn
@@Jason-fp7vi No surprises on Gradiente. They cut a lot of corners on quality control. I've picked up a few of them while importing MSAs. I also appreciate the comments on learning. Like you I roll my eyes every time someone talks about how rare Clayfighter Sculptor's cut is when there are over 30 listings for it at any given time. Conversely I have seen only one listing on eBay, mercari, ect. In the last year for the MSA variant of San Francisco Rush.
What you're describing is what I like to call "The Mexican Fade" You can see the phenomenon by visiting an n64 Mexican fb group or searching on fb marketplace for games for sale from Mexico. It has nothing to do with the carts as the same carts are found further south and don't have the same problems. It starts as a small scattering of label dots that fade and progressively worsens until the label has rips and tears. My theory is that it's caused by the humidity and heat that mexico has. Or how Mexican houses are built perhaps (and how much sunlight and heat enter the house over time, and where in said house the average Mexican gamer would be storing their games). This type of fade/degradation doesn't appear to happen in any other country, even if they have MSA carts (Like brazil). If you are going for an MSA set, I recommend importing from South America, not Mexico, as the carts will be in better condition. Furthermore, many of the MSA carts don't appear to have ever even been released in Mexico, but only in some of the south American countries. I guess nintendo just used MSA for all of them tho, unlike separate codes like they did with the Japanese set (ROC, ASI, KOR, etc, etc)
I actually only grabbed one from Mexico, the rest I picked up from Brazil or by just checking eBay. I am down to my last 2 for the loose cart set. WCW backstage assault grey cart and rampage 2. I will have the complete set after those 2. I know of only one other person with a complete loose cart set.
I've never heard of MSAs before, thanks for the info
Neither had I until about a year ago. Arguably one of the least known subsets out there. Word is starting to get out though.
Awesome video mate I've got 2 in my 6 foot tank they hang around with each other cause they can change sex like clownfish
Excellent advice great video your on the money thanks from England 🇬🇧
Thank You
dang bro, you held that camera up and filmed that printer for 18 minutes without it printing one thing.
Why was your game landscape on the TV? Should it be 4:3 like in the old days with black on the side?
That's just the way it displays on my set.
I do have a question if you end up reading this or someone else does. When I try to print, under the media and quality tab, it always shows normal without any option to print a higher quality. Would love to know a solution if you know one. Thanks.
Have you updated the drivers or software? I seem to remember that none of the additional print quality options popped up until I did this. Also there are generally several options for the selection of the printer itself and only one of them offers the additional print options.
I'll check the updated on the drivers. That I haven't done as of late. I did check the other selections and didn't see them. I thought I remembered seeing them in the past but just not there anymore. Trying to print a CD cover for someone, and this is a time for an inkjet would come in handy.@@jesterscorner879
I used inkjet printers for years and absoluetly hated them with a passion, so my last two have been lasers. I had an older monochrome Brother laser and never had an issue with the manual feed, so I figured when I struggled with this same printer, I must have been doing something wrong. I print envelopes from time to time, and it was almost unbearable with the error messages of being jammed when it wasn't. I did, however, learn to how to use the regular tray instead for them, and I haven't had any issues since. With regards to the cost of toner, while I agree it is expensive, inkjet cartridges are ridiculously expensive as well, and I have far better yield with toner cartridges, especailly due to the fact I don't waste any pages due to a faulty inkjet cartridge. The cherry on top is the toner cartridges are so much more frustration free that it's worth every penny in my opinion. If you need great photos, the lasers might not be your best bet. But if you are a casual user who needs to print something at home from time to time, I couldn't imagine buying an inkjet over a laser. I've been in retail the last 35 years and have seen countless returns on inkjets, where it is almost rare to see lasers returned. I believe most people buy inkjet because that's what they know, or they see a cheap $89 printer and are attracted to that. My opinion is those who try a laser printer and use it for home use will never go back to an inkjet again.
I agree with pretty much everything you stated and lasers are definitely more cost effective in the long run. That said there are a number of people (myself included) who fit into the both category. I ended up also picking up a Canon TR8622a inkjet printer for pictures and use the Brother for everything else. The biggest thing with inkjets is that you have to print weekly with them and never buy one that is under $100. I make and sell replacement videogame cartridge labels and the Brother was okay but the Canon leaves it in the dust for image print quality. I will definitely go through about 8-10 inkjet sets before I go through 1 set of high yield OEM toner for my Brother Printer though. If they figure out how to get lasers to do high res image prints for under $1000 then it would finally be the death of the inkjet printer for many (myself included). I dislike inkjet for everything but image quality.
Most of the time even two exact movies will work just spaced out when entered.
Yes, sometimes spacing it out will work, but generally I have found that having a slightly different version is what most consistent. I did discover though that Disney movie insider didn't remember what codes were used on the old Disney rewards system. So you can start all over with the cheap crappy ones that you can find at pawn shops everywhere.
@@jesterscorner879 yes we have a place here when you can buy books by the pound and DVDs for $2. I go there a lot if I just need a few codes. Right now I’m short 1 code to get the big thing I’ve been wanting on rewards page but haven’t had time run up there so I’m patiently waiting.
