Base Astor is the most VFM car in the segment. Yesterday I went to checkout Astor, SA said that they are not allowed to book base model Astor anymore. It's way too overbooked.

1st of all it is actually a good build car with quality level fit & finish...but don't know why MG don't provide 6th gear in manual variant...did they deliberately done this aur forgot about 6th gear...6 speed gearbox de deta toh kya jata MG ka...iss segment mein sabka 6 speed gearbox ata haay...This is the main down side of Astor...
Thx for a sensible review, I also have Astor CVT & would like to add few things... first, it does have Android Auto and Apple Car Play but shockingly it does not support many of the Android phones, which has been confirmed by MG Motors also, Second, they have missed reading lights for rear seats which could have been on C pillar....btw I am an Auto Industry veteran.
I drove 1.5 cvt but sorry to say it's slightly slower initially when compared to rival....since you are an auto veteran what's ur opinion on Taigun tsi 1.0 at....I drove it fully loaded and on uphills....found it more exciting and dynamic....

The ADAS system isn't good of this car or probably the highway I drove wasn't good enough. I am not sure why the owner shied away from any negatives. It should have been a lot honest.
Radar doesn't detect lanes. There's a camera behind rear view mirror area that detects it 😅 Radar is used for collision warning and prevention and also assists in adaptive cruise control.
19.6 mein Harrier, Hector, Hector plus ya safari aajate. No point in buying a small suv in this price. The ADAS has a long way to go in India. Most of the times you will not use them.

Apart from the excellent camera's, all other features are mostly gimmicks. Adas doesn't work properly on Indian roads, even the road sign/speed detection doesn't work 50% of the time.
I tried reverse parking detection, adaptive cruise control and blindspot detection and they worked very well kn in NCR.. So it is not all gimmick.. Lane change i feel is not of much use in Indian conditions at this point of time and our driving habits

These are all unnecessary gimmicks tbh. Adaptive cruise control looks cool but we all know these are machines/sensors and they're bound to fail/malfunction some day.

I believe because of our Chaotic India traffic & non-discipline driving skills of our countryman Advance features are just waste of money & time. Especially the ADAS, Lane departure system, AI system & Voice Command systems, Auto Headlamps, Auto Rain Sensing Wipers, Pan Sunroof........ etc. Would rather buy Cars without those gimmicks. Buy them when our roads infrastructure becomes top class, Disciple Driving skills with traffic sense, obey all RTO rules, regulations correctly, Pollution free environment,....... Only than it's OK to have those AI features.

This car is produced in India btw. And FYI a lot of other cars on the road use atleast some components made in China because India's infrastructure isn't as developed whereas China has specialized in it for years. You cannot escape it. This car in person feels very solid and I believe it scored a 5 star crash test rating in the asean ncap. I hope people judge the car on the basis of features and value instead of if it's Chinese or not

Congrats bhai ... I almost bought this cancelled, 2 days before delivery ... only reason, the leg room for left leg while driving was a big let down, can't relax leg. So bought Seltos.
Lane assist and TJA ADAS feature depends upon camera . ACC and AEB depends upon Radar. Except AEB feature which is safety based rest all feature is comfort based are useless in Indian road condition
No wireless charger, no wireless Android auto Apple car play, gimmicky features like robot doesn't work and this car is overbooked. Good cars like Ford had to leave. Indians are choosing 2nd class product over good products.

ACC and AEB depends upon Radar.
Except AEB feature which is safety based rest all feature is comfort based are useless in Indian road condition
