Ingested on not being slam, deathcore and "making monster noises" at 30 | Aggressive Tendencies

- Ingested (Sean Hynes [guitar], Sam Yates [guitar], Lyn Jeffs [drums]) explain why they aren't exactly a slam band, likening themselves to Dying Fetus, who also have slam parts between technical, fast bits of death metal. They call the slow, breakdown-esque parts a tool for songwriting, rather than an "all-encompassing mantra," mixed in with more black metal parts, death metal parts and more: "extreme metal's greatest hits" of 'The Level Above Human.' They also discuss the divisive nature of deathcore, the joy they find in being reviewed on RUclips and people splitting hairs on brutal music when, in the end, "we are nearly 30-year-old men making monster noises, playing as fast as possible." Interview conducted May 15 in Toronto when the band were on tour with Signs of the Swarm and Bodysnatcher, ahead of their appearance on the "Devastation on the Nation Tour."

I literally have an Ingested shirt that says "None can touch us the Slam Butchers."
Love how they threw some major shade at “true” slam. I hope the Slam Police see this.
They probably started out way more slam once upon a time but they really have come into their own as a death metal band

Love Ingested. They kick major ass live!
Ingested is the most adaptable band I've ever seen and listened to, every album was on the breaking point of a different genre. They've explored their sound and I believe they've finally found their true spot on where they want to be. I could name all the albums and say what exactly I mean by this but I dont want to write an essay about this, just listen to it yourself. You'll see that if you skip around from album to album they sound different everytime and to me that's pretty awesome because each time they did an amazing job with the tone of the album.
I can get why people say it has elements of slam, but it sure as fuck isn't anywhere near being deathcore.

Love all the comments arguing about their genre. Who cares about genres if a band sound good listen, if a band sounds bad then don't listen It's that simple.

Worst thing a band can do is say they're only gonna be one genre or subgenre / however many nested levels deep people need to go to make it fit in the little boxes in their little minds. If it's good, it's good. I get sick of the bad wraps people give deathcore and slam just because breakdowns. Come up with a new argument. Lol good vid man
Sometimes I lose sleep deciding if anomalies of artificial origin or serial urbicide is no.1. But nobody can say shit about ingested bringing the noise as well.
I know what they mean about slams and whatever. I dig some of that shit. But, these guys definitely incorporate those kinds of beats and sounds, tastefully, into death metal.
