- I feel a bit bad for Malak in Knights of the Old Republic. I've always believed that it was his friendship with Revan that caused his fall to the dark side.
From Wookieepedia:
"As you duel on the Star Forge, Malak is eventually brought to his knees, mortally injured. Amazed that he has been defeated, Malak begins to regret turning to the dark side. Revan tells him that it was the way of the dark side: all things die in the end.
Malak tells Revan that maybe there was more truth in the Jedi Code than he ever believed, and wonders what would have happened if their positions had been reversed; if he had been captured by the Jedi and returned to the light. Revan apologizes to Malak for starting him down the path of the dark side, but reminds Malak that he had chosen to continue it.
Malak dies with sorrow and regret over his deeds, and without hatred or malice towards his one-time closest friend."
I wanted to share this with everyone, although it's not really my speed (but I LOVE the other ending included with this mod). This mod's a little strange. It is only for Female, DS players. Strange because saving Malak would be something that a light sided player would do, but you can't trigger it unless you're dark sided. Anyway, this is part of Kristy Kistic's "2 Altered Endings" mod. It's neat to see what happens, but I'll admit that I laugh HARD at Malak, and the way he stands all stiff at the celebration at the end. Also, strange, is that since he apparently takes Zalbaar's place at the end, Zalbaar ends up M.I.A. (even though I don't kill him when I go DS). This mod, basically turns a dark sided play thru into a light sided one. ;)

In all seriousness to the character, Malak was very unlucky as a jedi in that he was forced to the darkside by emperor vitiate. You could argue that Malak was never himself during the games, that mentality he was a victim of vitiate and that actually he wasn't necessarily worse than Hilter.

I love the idea of this. Malak still did every horrible action like before, but because he said sorry, he gets a medal along with the others! Also, seeing him stand there in the default pose at the end was amazing!!

Gonna be blunt, I was expecting something.. More. Here's how I figured it going down.
LS Revan heals Malak after he asks how things might have changed and proclaims that he is nothing as the dark side takes him.
Malak: Y-You healed me? Why?
Revan: Because I know you have seen the truth. Come with me, and return to the Jedi.
Malak: *chuckle* Still as optimistic as ever, eh my old master? And what incentive do I have to not attack you while your guard is dropped?
Revan: Because there is good in you. There is no Chaos..
Malak: There is Harmony.. Yes. I remember the code as you do. But it cannot save me from what I have done.
Revan: You say that, but with such regret.
Malak: Do I now? *scoff* I am pitiful. Not a minute ago I wanted nothing more than to be the ruler of the Sith. A true instrument of darkness. And now look at me.. Is that why you spare me? Out of pity?
Revan: I spare you out of compassion. So long as there is good in you, I have nothing to gain from your death.
Malak: *sigh* It is different between us. Our destinies I mean. You were destined for great things. Perhaps I was merely destined to be an obstacle for you to overcome.
Revan: Or perhaps you are destined for greater things and I am merely destined to help guide you.
Malak: *laugh* Even to the end, you find a way to lift my spirits. Perhaps you are right. Maybe this is my one, final chance at redemption. Maybe, my crimes can be forgiven in time..
Revan: So will you come with me?
Malak: Yes. If only to face the consequences of my actions, I will come with you my old friend.
And then maybe later we'll cut to one of the Jedi masters reciting the code to Malak as he meditates in a cell.

He just turned on and destroyed his own Empire without giving them any option for redemption? Please, that's pushing it too far. I mean he's the boss. If he tells them to stop fighting they have to stop fighting. Makes no sense to kill all those people (most of which aren;t force users) and then immediately be celebrated as a hero of the republic and not tried as a war criminal. Even Vader only really got off because he died.

It is a mod, apparently the modders did not bother to give him animations in the ending scene. What you are seeing is a T-pose, this is what models get when they just roll out of modelling.

Malak should at least be restrained at the end. Being the enemy that they were fighting all along there is no way the Republic is giving him a medal.

He was once a jedi that save the republic years ago But he turn to the dark side and now Revan made him a jedi once again. Of course the republic would of fall without Malak and Revan.

I find it very difficult to believe that by calling Malak pathetic who was supposed to be the Dark Lord of the Sith he willingly turns back to the light and then runs up behind Revan almost like he was about to stab her in the back and change his mind. But even just before that Revan is played as a female and actually says I love you to Bastila who then questions herself and agrees to change her ways and that Revan will stand with her as will Carth also mentions he loves Revan, so i take it there is a guaranteed threesome going to happen later on.... but what astonished me the most is that the Republic celebration ceremony at the end accepted Malak at the party who is standing in a very awkward t-shape stance with his arms wide open looking like something out of G-MOD as if he was stunned to be with the jedi again so it looks like he is either gonna be getting away with all the countless murders of innocents and blowing planets he did or just awaiting the death sentence trial. Admiral Dodonna then says you defeated Malak when he is standing right there twenty feet tall above everybody else who looks like he is just about to wet himself thinking he should not be here.... and finally Carth i never knew you can smile!

In the cannon revan is male but the Jedi exile is female.
LegoSwordViedos Ehh first Revan isn't canon sadly, also, so your point? In Kotor you play as Revan not the Exile...
Revan isn't canon to the Disney-verse. However, in SWTOR, which follows the KOTOR plots, it is canonized that Revan is male while the Jedi Exile was female. Though KOTOR and SWTOR are not recognized as official lore by Disney they did grant Bioware the permission to maintain the work on their game. So as those are established, ongoing plots they can be construed as canon when discussing the characters and lore from that timeline.

Bastila makes a cameo in SWTOR in the Jedi Consular storyline. Us Knights never meet her, but I, having been helping a guy out, got to see her. It's refreshing to see they didn't change her voice actress!

Why Redeem Malak? His actions were his own. He chose the dark side willingly, and thus his fate is simple.
