this is a perfect example of rememberring a game through nostalgia glasses. like you all i remembered was the first level and boss for some reason but i remembered loving it back in the day. the remake was okay but for some reason i stopped about half way through and when the classic came to ps+ a few months ago it gave me motion sickness after a few minutes so yeah its not very good 😂
I loved this game, the remake was nothing short of phenomenal as well. I really love your channel dude! Wish we were more local to make your band's show 😭
My top 5 games of all time shifts around pretty frequently, but I'd say MediEvil is consistently at #2. I have so many fond memories of playing this and MGS1 as a kid... I think it's also what kicked off my love for horror games and movies.
I love this game, I enjoyed the sequel (until the ending). I hated the PSP remake (apart from the remade soundtrack which is awesome). The PS4 remake was pretty solid but had a few missed details which irked me and did not fix the awkward controls from the original. On the other hand it did the one thing that _every_ remake of a game _should_ do but so far as I am aware only this remake does - it includes the original version of the game as an extra for you to also experience. I really hated the comic and the proposed story for the third game. The reason I hated the comic was it destroyed one of the things I loved about the original which was the ambiguity of Dan's character. All the heroes and magical beings that know the truth of Dan's 'heroic' story mock him for his ineptitude and failure but the two characters that actually knew him from this time (Canny Tim and ghost King Peregrin) have nothing but respect for the man despite having to 'do the work' after his untimely death and give him the credit. Dan's death was a tragedy not due to anything he did, it was just appalling luck. Sure he got to his position by being a good storyteller in a time when that was all that mattered but when the crisis came he did stand up to fight without cowardice and lead the charge, when he got his second chance he did not falter either, even his mortal enemy Zarok shows him more respect as his enemy than you would expect. So I found it fascinating that this character was simultaneously a fool and a hero without explicitly telling us which was truly him... then they make that comic and he's just a sleazy, inept, cowardly incompetent. I love a bit of ambiguity in a story especially when they never end up confirming it one way or the other (eg Shadow of the Colossus, Vagrant Story). PS. I see in your footage that you were running around the sleeping village with Iron Hewer's warhammer but also talking about how you had to run from the villagers to avoid losing the chalice. Were you aware that you just need to use the hammer's charge attack to stun everyone instead of running from them? Sure you can't actually smack them with the hammer itself but the bubble of force from the charge attack knocks them out for a good while without harming them. Also I still remember to this day the two codes to get the cheat/supercheat menus, one of which allows you autofinish the level you are on with or without the chalice so there is no need to spend hours trying to glitch your way through. Press pause, hold R1 (I think, definitely a shoulder button) and enter D,U,S,T, T,O, D,U,S,T (Basic cheats) or T,O, T,O,O,T, L,O,U,D, R,O,L,L, T,R,O,L,L, T,O, D,O,O,R (Supercheats) Of course these are for the European version so you'd need different codes across the pond. Still these two funny little phrases just stuck in my head all these years.
What i had to do to almost fully love this game was playing it in a ps1 emulator with savestates, u should try it 😇 btw just discovered ur channel and its great.
"Pizzahut demo disk" and"James pond" were name dropped so close to each other i nearly died
This just made me giggle like a lunatic

Great video. And Medieval was the first Souls game confirmed, thank you. hahahah

Amazing reference to the hbomberguy vid on Tommy tallarico😂
5:55 Wait, what? I'm pretty sure the D-pad does nothing in Super Mario 64, it's just not used at all in the game.
They meant the C-pad?
@@adamvancleave9200 That can't be right either, the C-pad controls the camera, not the walking.
@@Diwasho that’s what I meant.
i had the full version later on
I beat the remake and unlocked the original. The original plays so much better than the remake, mostly due to more consistency with the combat.
new intro?!?!?
