With a score of 37, even with FSD being beta, it's still safer for everyone if he uses FSD instead of driving on the road. Giving him FSD is more a public service than for testing.
I think Ross Gerber is one of the strongest Tesla bull out there. Rewarding him with FSD beta I think was a bullish move. His score better improve our they will take it away from him. Recording with his phone is a stupid move but the nanny camera should nip activity in the but!
I think the change is in preparation for the tax incentives changing and making sure the pricing matches those incentives so that Tesla Cybertruck buyers can get the maximum incentive.
1 million castings per year is 2 castings per minute, or one every 30 seconds. I find this hard to believe. A cycle time of 4 minutes is a more realistic number that I have seen.

There is no air to "press" out . It's flushed with argon. To prevent oxidation. There has been videos describing the pre heat of the casting . I see nothing new
On battery day they said it was "cold metal extrusion". Please google this. The metal is not heated or melted before it goes in the press. The metal is pressed. That's what the thousands of pounds of pressure does.
Lol, on Ross Gerber this isn't a tough one. Two weeks ago every FSD beta user was hand picked by Tesla as someone they wanted to have the program. This is just one more in addition to the people who "earned" their spot.

hey guile, thank you for sharing your perspective. i do enjoy hearing where people are coming from. respectfully i'd have to disagree! they bring awareness and scale in a way these charities cannot and do not get on their own. i don't see any problem with making a profit in the process, it's essentially what america is founded upon lol and people are going to have gambling issues whether omaze exists or not, and in this case at least there is some amount of "good" that comes from it lol...cheers brotha

None of the initial round of ~1000 beta testers were required to have perfect scores or be scored at all before having been granted access to the Beta program. Public rollout aside (in which heightened safety is very wise) I see no reasonable argument as to why Tesla should not continue to provide Beta access to whomever they see fit for whatever reason.
I do not agree. If they are holding back something I paid for, on the pretense of my driving scored by the beta software, then everyone should be evaluated based on their score. Or, refund my money!
@@kn944 THIS! We paid a reduced amount for future delivery of FSD SHOULD IT SUCCEED. It's not there yet. We had no expectation of being included in beta testing. That there is a path to have access to the beta is a to be a right.
Tesla can choose how they want. Ross is a big boy and knows he is under the microscope and he is a major investor, so Tesla made the choice. I imagine it also involved a phone call and perhaps an additional contract with Ross Gerber. Hey, I have a 98 and am an investor. I wonder if I can get it?
Tesla can choose whoever they want to give the Beta to, as well as revoke it. If they promise all 99s get it, that doesn't mean they can't also give it to others
Diecasting is not new. Diecasting such large parts is fairly new. What's innovated here is a car company getting away from stamp steel. I was a journeyman pattern maker for 15 years. Nice to see patterns finding a niche again.

a mold capable of making a 1 piece body may not even be possible. the problem is you need a matched die which means the entire interion has to be a mold that can be removed . so it would have to have incredible amounts of action to collapse enough to be removed past the A , B pillars , the roof support etc. this thing has to withstand massive injection forces without those sections moving out of alignment then transform into somethin much smaller to be removed. the outside of the body would be less problematic but still huge.if it's even possible the tool would weigh maybe a few thousand TONS . i bet the tool they showed in berlin weighs several hundred tons . it's huge and on top of that if they make the side panels and door pillars out of high strength steel it will be stronger than aluminum and much cheaper. people who know nothing about manufacturing or molding spout off with their bullshit. most can't tell the difference between a stamping line and a casting machine.
Personally I am just about sick of this crap with the full self driving. I bought my model 3 and paid for the FSD over two years ago!. I use it 99 percent time every day I drive it. The car gave me a 97 score. I have no tickets no accidents for many years the FSD City should’ve went by Signoretti of who bought their cars early on that paid for the FSD and uses it. Not who makes videos. Nothing was ever said about a button to have your score judged when you paid for it. I have a lot of stock in Tesla for years and ordered the cyber truck the fist day when it was available to purchase. Now I’m sure a lot of us is going to get screwed around on the price If and when it ever comes available. You will probably need to get scored on that just to pick it up. I have been pimping and offending Tesla since before I even bought the model 3 those days are over. Just give it to all your buddies with a 37 score. Ravian truck is looking a lot better to me.
Giving FSD Beta to someone with a 37% score is In keeping with Elon's policy of not requiring requiring a diploma for employment. Hopefully Ross Gerber has the other requisite exceptional abilities.
Awesome thanks! I was so fascinated by the Berlin Gigafactory tour... just unreal. The hood stamping line and the giga-press rooms were really something. Looks like they will have plenty of room to expand production as the demand increases. Much cheaper to build bigger now than trying to add on later...
Are you serious?! You call stamping fascinating?! Its litteraly the oldest way of form manufacturing., wtf! I thought tesla could have implemented the use of recycled materials like bmw, volvo..... have been doing for years.
In fact BMW introduced way tooo much new technologies in the i3 that it didn't succeed the i3 already had giant castings, carbon fiber body and recycled materials/fiber panels....

Who wants to filter through all that social media. Come here and to the other RUclips channels for the news. Or stick to social media for the news. There’s only so much news each day to cover.
There are far more people who do not actively stare vs those who do stare at the endless social media sites for news, hearsay, or other wasteful info…so Dillon is, in the least, serving as a useful editor for many people in that regard.
hey kenneth, thanks for the feedback. each day i try to scoop up everything new picking up where rob leaves off the night before from all social media sites and compress it into a digestable, 8-14 (lol) minute segment to save everyone else the time. if the news and rumors happen to be more on reddit one week, there's not much i can do about that. but i always appreciate all feedback so thank you. enjoy your weekend!
The reality is, given the inflation in the raw materials AND the higher prices of cars generally, that those who have pre-ordered a Cybertruck are already sitting on a nice profit. There is no chance that those who hope to receive a Cybertruck within 3yrs from now will without a pre-order will pay $5-10k of the pre-order prices. Anyone who cancels their pre-order at this time is making at least a $5-10k mistake - likely more due to the expected EV tax credit - because they could sell their new Cybertruck once delivered for a fat quick profit. PS I hope Dillon didn’t say what I just typed because I wrote this note before starting his video…
I'm at 99 w/1700 miles. The Ross/37 score..meh, who cares...give it to everyone, esp folks who do free advertising (I have not received it yet, hopefully soon)
I don’t think Elon himself or many of his own engineers or testers could get a perfect safety score, so the number 100 is just to make sure total yahoos don’t mess up the car and give all of FSd a bad name.
8:30 I wonder what will eventually happen, eventually nobody wants to ensure Tesla's any more, except for Tesla themself who will do it for a very high price... But maybe I'm wrong, I hope I'm wrong actually.
@@incognitotorpedo42 I understand, but if your ensurance realises that Tesla isn't cheaper then them, then they realise Tesla knows something they don't know and then they realise they should raise their price because they see that Tesla thinks the odds are fairly high you might need ensurance.

Ross is awesome. Just don’t crash, Ross!
Ross Gerber gets it (with a 37 score) before me - and I PAID FOR IT in 2016 for my '17 MX ... and have a mid 90s score... What the F..K?
1 million castings per year is 2 castings per minute, or one every 30 seconds. I find this hard to believe. A cycle time of 4 minutes is a more realistic number that I have seen.
These people don't really know how die casting worlks, those castings will also need to be tested for failures.....

Who Tesla gives FSD to is not a "debate". It is their business and no one else. If it looks bad, they have to deal with it.
On battery day they said it was "cold metal extrusion". Please google this. The metal is not heated or melted before it goes in the press. The metal is pressed. That's what the thousands of pounds of pressure does.
Hey Dillion, why are the model Y’s so expensive in the UK
Lol, on Ross Gerber this isn't a tough one. Two weeks ago every FSD beta user was hand picked by Tesla as someone they wanted to have the program. This is just one more in addition to the people who "earned" their spot.

Also, just one more quick thing : America wasn't founded upon profit alone, it was profit for a purpose and the wealth gap ratio wasn't as important as it is nowadays. What makes any project going through hardship in order to be successful, in the end, is the collaboration of individuals and groups of individuals - way more so than competition.
This is why for all the genius Elon Musk has, it makes me wonder why he didn't go through a cooperative model of business as soon as he could have... I hope he can eventually do it with Space X, hence leaving the greatest legacy for the advancement of humankind, in my humble opinion. It'd go hand in hand with implementing a citizen rent, as was in Andrew Yang's platform; the only one Elon publicly supported.
There may be a good reason why few low score drivers got FSD. Tesla needs to have examples of how bad drivers use FSD.
I don't think that is the reason here. It's more about being big influencers of a kind, which I don't have any problems with personally.
Does anyone know if Tesla is going to involved in COP 26 later this month?I know various companies are as well as governments etc.

So the insurance yearly premium will be about $600 for a good driver.... What premium would you normally expect in Texas???... Asking from Australia
My safety score was 89 and I was quoted 95$ a month for the DFW area for tsla ins. . Good drivers would be 100 score and their quote seems to be just under 60. My progressive ins is about 120 right now

Agree. Plus other youtubers were added to FSD beta after the original 1000 and before the 1000 perfect 100's - Gali, Mauer....
Exactly. Also, Tesla never said that ONLY people with high scores would be getting the beta so they are not going back on their word.
I do not agree. If they are holding back something I paid for, on the pretense of my driving scored by the beta software, then everyone should be evaluated based on their score. Or, refund my money!
@@irvinwright4075 But it's still in Beta mode. You did not pay for being a tester of Beta mode. You paid for the end product. And so did I.

Don’t confuse pressing with casting. Elon said no full body casting, he did not say no full body pressing.

a mold capable of making a 1 piece body may not even be possible. the problem is you need a matched die which means the entire interion has to be a mold that can be removed . so it would have to have incredible amounts of action to collapse enough to be removed past the A , B pillars , the roof support etc. this thing has to withstand massive injection forces without those sections moving out of alignment then transform into somethin much smaller to be removed. the outside of the body would be less problematic but still huge.if it's even possible the tool would weigh maybe a few thousand TONS . i bet the tool they showed in berlin weighs several hundred tons . it's huge and on top of that if they make the side panels and door pillars out of high strength steel it will be stronger than aluminum and much cheaper.
people who know nothing about manufacturing or molding spout off with their bullshit. most can't tell the difference between a stamping line and a casting machine.
Making a giant casting will also increase the errors or defaults in the giant piece. There is a reason why cars have different materials.
How'd he know a flashlight isn't enriching my life at this point?
Awesome thanks! I was so fascinated by the Berlin Gigafactory tour... just unreal. The hood stamping line and the giga-press rooms were really something. Looks like they will have plenty of room to expand production as the demand increases. Much cheaper to build bigger now than trying to add on later...
totally agree...set up for years of expansion...hence the delay for the next giga locations imho! exciting times :)
Are you serious?! You call stamping fascinating?! Its litteraly the oldest way of form manufacturing., wtf! I thought tesla could have implemented the use of recycled materials like bmw, volvo..... have been doing for years.
In fact BMW introduced way tooo much new technologies in the i3 that it didn't succeed the i3 already had giant castings, carbon fiber body and recycled materials/fiber panels....

if by rigged you mean imperfect, i totally agree haha
Cybertruck price is NOT locked in. Only FSD price.

TSLA ended day at $843!! Wow!
$1000 this year is quite possible now.
I don’t think Elon himself or many of his own engineers or testers could get a perfect safety score, so the number 100 is just to make sure total yahoos don’t mess up the car and give all of FSd a bad name.
Ross Gerber has a low safety score, but who is the owner of that Tesla that Ross is driving, and which account is logged in?
8:30 I wonder what will eventually happen, eventually nobody wants to ensure Tesla's any more, except for Tesla themself who will do it for a very high price... But maybe I'm wrong, I hope I'm wrong actually.
The insurance on my Model S is already cheap. I doubt that Tesla would charge me less, given the way I drive.
@@incognitotorpedo42 I understand, but if your ensurance realises that Tesla isn't cheaper then them, then they realise Tesla knows something they don't know and then they realise they should raise their price because they see that Tesla thinks the odds are fairly high you might need ensurance.
