This sounds like the premise of a science fiction movie that has the crack team and head guy setting up to save the world with their invention for a client that has big plans with serious deadlines. The impact of this press for the transition to electric transportation cannot be understated. Indra has risen to the challenge and we're lucky they were around to help change the world. Keep innovating, never stop. Who knows when you will be called on again to do what others will think is impossible.

The other companies are still just using their ICE bodies and shoving batteries in them to "save money". The result of this is an inferior product. As of now I think the ICE manufacturers are doing a wait and see and will only make orders after Tesla has tested the waters; then claim they are leading the way in manufacturing and electrification.
The naming giga and mega shows clearly that this is all initiated by Tesla. This are not italien names. Strangely enough he doesn't say a thing about Tesla in this chapter....

This video leaves the impression that the idea for the Giga press came from IDRA and not Tesla, so I wonder where it came from. The video is a good ad nonetheless. Hopefully, the rest of the videos will be more technical.
Looking at Tesla's patent for a full-body casting, my take is that IDRA was in development for their next generation of casting machines (which included bigger ones) when Tesla came looking for a supplier.
Elon Musk said in 2018 that it would be nice if the body and shell of his cars were made in one piece, so he asked press manufacturers around the world, but they refused because they said it was impossible. All but Idra Group of Brescia, Italy, accepted the challenge and a year later the 6500T press was a reality. Now the 9000T press is ready for delivery.
I imagine this will garner a lot of attention from Tesla Fans the world over. Thank you for helping to make the Model Y cheaper and increasing my Tesla share worth! :)

Couple of questions: 1. What special circumstance in 2017 led IDRA to explore the idea of large castings ? Did some customer approach IDRA and requested the same ? 2. Where did this name "Giga Press" arise from ? 3. Why is this machine being advertised now and not in 2019 ? 4. Was the special alloy used in this machine invented at IDRA ?

Does anybody know which sleeve / piston size is used and which diameter has the piston on the machine side (the 4.000 to machine has piston size 245 mm on the machine side and sleeve size is in the range 150 - 170 mm)?
1 shot 1 car is going to become a reality with Idra! Tesla already has patents for such a design using a handful of Idra Gigapress's all coming together on one spot! I hope it becomes a reality!
