Yeah... i will belive that a chines company solved it once they start showing profits. Eve byd loss money like no one buisness. They havent payed some suppliers in over 7 month.
Yeah it would be wonderful if it really works. And it might, china is good with technology. But china is also good at lying about these things so will have to see. They are also good at copying things like they copied ChatGPT for deepseek. Maybe they found a way to copy FSD through distillation as well?
Avatr has yet to make a profit. They lose billions of $ per quarter. So as impressive as the ADAS is, theres no telling how much it really costs - especially to license it from Huawei.
That is why they are only paused for one month. Trade deficits are being negotiated. 10% tariff on China still in effect. EU tariffs coming soon. This isn't the end of tariff talk. He isn't running for reelection, Trump doesn't give a f*ck.
To implement FSD in a country, Tesla needs to use their supercomputer clusters in the US and driving data from the respective country to train the neural net models. The supercomputers are in the US, so that is where the data would need to be sent to carry out the training. Wrt China, Tesla is not allowed to export the training data out of China for use by the US supercomputers and Tesla doesn't have any supercomputers in China to train the models there. So there is no chance of Tesla introducing FSD in China until one of those constraints changes. (Btw, that was the point of one of the analysts' question during last week's earnings call. Listen to Musk's answer to the question.)
If Tesla is not considered a high tech leader in China's car market, yet still sells so well at higher prices, imagine the sales it will get when China allows them to release FSD. But then again, the competition will have had time to catch up.
Hi Dillon, you probably wont read this, maybe I would message you on X, but I wanted to thank you for the list of centers that had the new Y, one was very close to me and I went to see it today. I was not a fan of ambient lights, but seeing them in person make the car look pretty neat. Also the cooled seats do work well!
It's handled New York at night in the rain I think it could handle it. Huaweis system was mostly handling low speed situations that require simple path/velocity planning for vehicles and pedestrians around it.
From what ive seen from Kyle, its hard to compare. Kyle said the Chinese driving style is to go where you want and other drivers will accommodate. Having to be polite isn't part of the Chinese driving culture. This fact would make it easier to drive in China not harder. However it does mean you need to train on Chinese driving, which Tesla isn't allowed to do. I doubt FSD will ever be released in China.
@@EwanM11 being polite isn't part of their culture, period. I was there twice, and old ladies would shove me out of the way to get in a line, or get on the train.
I wonder if the China FSD knows the correct speed limits on some country. Google maps has correctly known them for 10+ years, but Tesla still thinks it’s 25mph…it’s 55mph.
Dillon thank you. I did see the Xaomi FSD video yesterday and was impressed. It is not yet available in France so I have not yet seen any here. Your video presentations are excellent. 😊
It's about time someone stepped up to the FSD challenge, because Tesla is putting too high a ticket price on it. Tesla sill hasn't delivered an unsupervised system, despite claiming to be almost complete for years. This is a very difficult problem to solve, and it's unhealthy to have one company with a monopoly. Ultimately, they're going to need to drive down the cost of those sensors though, because it's going to be too expensive to roll out to the lower cost vehicles. I've concluded that it's not going to be unsupervised in my lifetime, and frankly I don't need or want it at the moment. That's one reason of many that pushed me towards the Kia EV3 rather than wait for Tesla to come up with something that I probably won't even want to own.
We have to remember that Tesla published the first FSD video before 2020 and it seemed at this time that FSD was close to solved … so the chineses videos are not final proofs of anything …
I guess we must build in hype and lying into tech claims. Tesla (Musk) has been lying about FSD for the past five years and now lying is a marketing standard.
interesting, I wonder if more input sensors means larger AI model that requires more inference compute and more compute/storage during training. I hope soon we will get info regarding this and compare it to Tesla.
My guess is it will require a bit more compute to process the sensor inputs and patch it together to a single image, but than the AI will just make decisions based on that single image just the same as Tesla FSD does. So the amount of extra compute necessary will be small? But with the extra data it will probably be easier to train the AI. But it's still not clear what the ADS AI is trained on. It wouldnt surprise me if they are either lying, or if they somehow copied/distilled tesla's FSD AI into their own just like they distilled openAI's ChatGPT into deepseek. Or a combination of both.
Thanks for reporting on Kyle's review of Huawei's ADAS in Avtar cars in China. It gives a more complete / balanced view about Tesla FSD competition globally. Huawei seems to have integrated lidar very well, overcoming the potential "signal-noise" conflicts that Elon / Tesla-fans use to justify a vision-only setup. Lidar hardware costs only usd200 per car, immaterial if the benefits they offer can be harnessed smoothly. Suggest Elon and Tesla team be humble enough to study Huawei's system deeply. Someone I know who works on self-driving software in China also thinks (like Kyle) that Huawei's system is the best in China (it can do unprotected U turns safely) - he is not familiar with (can't comment on) Tesla's FSD.
we need a lot more video footage of the system on the roads for me to make a dogmatic conclusion but i found it to be quite intriguing based on everything i could find
2:05 - That AVATR vehicle price ($40-60K) in China sounds interesting until you realize that such a vehicle can't be produced at close to the price (including much cheaper Chinese labor) for any sort of profit margin. Moreso, Chinese EV are sold much more cheaply in China for a number of reasons, including fierce competition. The point? I wouldn't worry much yet about this vehicle being a highly scalable competitor for Tesla. That said, it seemed to perform in self driving mode quite confidently.
i agree in theory but the chinese gov is clearly willing to heavily subsidize many companies and new technologies so if they can do that until they reach critical scale it may not matter much
New discounts on the Cybertruck? What about the 1 million preorders? I'm shocked. I was told it was amazing and the design styling would not turn people off. They were going to sell millions.
One part of agreement. Other items don't fall under the scope of $1.3bill plan. Canada will also have to show good faith border progress over next month. The ulitmate goal besides border issues, is to eliminate the Canada/US trade deficit in on going meetings. I suspect trade concessions will be made by Canada. Canada has zero leverage.
For the Chinese market, Tesla must retrain autopilot based on data for China. And for that, they need to build a Cortex 2 in China. In the USA, processing data from China is prohibited
@@scottmcshannon6821 most likely, they have a chip of their own design, as they do for their smartphones. Chips for training are mined in the same way as deepseek does.

China's driving style is a whole different style to Europe and America... However, I believe there will be a number non geo- fenced driving systems worldwide by 2027. At the moment, Tesla is in the lead.
Huwai's FSD IS way better than FSD!!! It can navagate CRAZY driving that many countries have so its really a universal FSD that can be used now anywhere
@@johnsonjjohnson100 FSD can be made to do anything. Its behavior is a norm for US traffic. FSD model is so advanced that a few tweaks of some vectors in the model and problem solved
I gave FSD a tryout, out of curiosity, on a road trip from central MD to and from NE TN during the most recent 30 day free trial. Not impressed. Several interventions. Trending too close to passing semis in the adjacent lane, taking unlighted freeway off ramp too fast, failure to recognize or honor construction zone speed reduction signs, failure to see and avoid truck tire debris in the middle of the road, which resulted in damage to the aeroshield on the front of the car. Had to keep below 40 mph the rest of the way home. FSD kept resetting max speed per speed limit signs on US 11 rather than 40 mph max I had set. Won't be purchasing FSD, although I had no intention of doing so anyway on general principle. I.e., if the fundamental purpose of FSD is to produce cars that are safer than the average driver, then the only ethical approach is to include it as standard equipment, included in the base price, at no additional charge, in every vehicle that Tesla sells.
Biden had already negotiated 10k troops with Mexico. Their leader is laughing that they didn’t do anything new with Mr. 34 Felonies, but he knows his supporters will believe that he did something new. And that is all he cares about.
FSD is not the best feature of Tesla. Once solved or once they go the L3 where it can take over completely for some time, u can say it is the best feature
I like the exterior of the AVTR but not so much the interior. I prefer the clean look of Tesla. Now for the price, we know that China car makers are highly subsidised and most of the time, don't make any profit on their EV cars. We learn recently that BYD isn't making a profit after all. It's great to have 25k sensors when you goal isn't to make profit but just to show off.
So, Tesla couldn’t design a robot that could clean the car for a normal door? That explanation makes no sense. And having all these ready is useless until the software is ready… and it won’t be ready by June. Most of the other OEMs will have FSD before Tesla.
Tesla is getting desperate. The Cybertruck is not selling as they expected. Drop the price then see people come running. I'm not buying until I see the price near $50k for the duel motor AWD with 350 miles range.
Tesla is not desperate. They're doing great. Car sales are only a funding source to develop their real products and every quarter they add more cash to their financials while everyone else is going further in debt.
And that line about the Model Y being the best-selling EV in China should tell you everything. No matter how much these stupid people say, China's EVs are better than Tesla's. Even the Chinese buy Tesla over China's EVs.

Speaking of FSD, I got version 12.6.3 today for my HW3 Model S. To say I was disappointed would be a gross understatement. My trip was about 2 miles and FSD failed three times. The first time was on an unmarked suburban road that was 36 feet across. The car wanted to go down dead center instead of in the right half like most drivers. Then when we got to a part that was marked, it wanted to drive with the left wheels over the line. The second time was at a traffic light where it wanted to make a turn on red. If I had not taken control and stepped on the brake hard, I think it would have run into cross traffic that had the right of way. The third time was approaching my destination and it started to miss the right turn onto a side road. The car slammed on the brakes and came out of autopilot. As a retired software engineer, I understand some things take time and I do understand the complexity of the task, but I have been waiting for FSD for five and a half years.
I asure you Elon will never do Lidar, but he has said he’ll do HD Radar instead, when it’s needed to get to the next level of self driving-but at this point it’s not needed
Im not sure about the comments from Kyles German friend considering the model Y sales success. Something is not adding up. Wait.. once I add Elon bad the equation balances. 😅
Whats confusing or contradictory? He said that Tesla is viewed as the Toyota of EVs with a solid reputation for safety, reliability, and powertrain performance, even if it’s not the most high-tech or cutting edge. Toyota is the same. They never pushed to have the most advanced or powerful engines only the most reliable. That philosophy has led them to be the number 1 auto maker for years
We have been hearing about the tesla data and compute advantage for so long..and now Huawei is at this level!? Competition is here, if Huawei could do this, Google can. Elon better hurry!
I think when Tesla wants to go 10x of human driving some advanced sensors are needed. I'm not convinnced about cameras only since when it is snowing that brings AI hw to max load also ice may block cameras but radars come throughall weather. I clean my car backing camera twice in a week
I get nothing but derision when I bring this up to the Tesla folks. But I've driven way too many times in Florida cloudbursts and West Virginia mountain fog where optics are nearly useless. Surely the AI can work out the necessary deconfliction.

Why has the Tesla Insurance program stalled for two years at only 12 states? Tesla will need to insure its CyberCabs before rollout in any state and non-Tesla insurance will unlikely insure private Teslas to join the Robotaxi network.
Pretty sure they cited regulations being a pain in the past because it's all state-level. Seems feasible with attempting to get national regulation of self-driving cars they might try to slip in a national insurance type thing for at least self-driving cars too.
Huawei’s system is far superior to FSD. Whenever some does something better, Tesla fans try to focus on something else. Just a few days back, Elon said he can’t see the next person with a telescope… he needs to open the cover on the lens and then turn it forward to see Huawei. And the others in China isn’t far off. FSD’s value will fall very fast. If cost is the issue for LIDAR, believe me, no one will care about spending $600 - $1000 more to get FSD working.
@ You watch it and have your own conclusions. The person who was on the driving seat said the car can drive by itself all the time and the video showed that too. It was able to handle things where FSD would have choked for sure.

Still with Tesla stock, investors can never be sure what will happen next, bearish periods ultimately establish a new set of stocks to buy and watch while setting the stage for a robust new uptrend. I have been reading articles of people that grossed profits up to $250k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist?
Buying a stock is easy, but buying the right stock without a time-tested strategy is incredibly hard. that's why seeking expert advice is essential.

Hmmm… so what happened to Tesla’s 5-year, “insurmountable” lead in FSD?
Yeah... i will belive that a chines company solved it once they start showing profits. Eve byd loss money like no one buisness. They havent payed some suppliers in over 7 month.
It grew - no one close to
Yeah it would be wonderful if it really works. And it might, china is good with technology. But china is also good at lying about these things so will have to see. They are also good at copying things like they copied ChatGPT for deepseek. Maybe they found a way to copy FSD through distillation as well?
Even in the earning Elon said they are so ahead in autonomous driving that there isn’t a closed . I think he only meant for outside of China
Avatr has yet to make a profit. They lose billions of $ per quarter. So as impressive as the ADAS is, theres no telling how much it really costs - especially to license it from Huawei.
Is there a chance that Tesla will never allowed to have FSD in China in retaliation to recent US policies?
no.
1:48 Trump didn’t get what he wanted originally. Originally he was complaining about the trade deficit between the U.S. and Canada/Mexico.
That is why they are only paused for one month. Trade deficits are being negotiated. 10% tariff on China still in effect. EU tariffs coming soon. This isn't the end of tariff talk. He isn't running for reelection, Trump doesn't give a f*ck.
Trade deficits are a meaningless red herring that have been used by politicians for years to promote their agenda.
Ads3.2 is not included, it’s $5k or $100/mo
You think CCP / China would slow walk / delay Tesla FSD? I’m schocked!
Not delay it, but Tesla is constrained by data security issues and US Nvidia export restrictions to fully train fsd for China.
So many sensors. How much is the power consumption for all sensors and hardware. 2000wh ?
To remove Kathleen Mc Cormick from her position would be the best step they can do, so Teslas appeal can be decided by another judge.
Like Cannon should have been removed?
How is ADS possible? What did they train it on?
Wow, California purchased 9019 Cyber Trucks in 2024 out of 38,965 sold in 2024. What state is number 2?
They won't make that mistake again.
Hi Dillon, you probably wont read this, maybe I would message you on X, but I wanted to thank you for the list of centers that had the new Y, one was very close to me and I went to see it today. I love my X, but I think I would have been ok waiting the the new Y. Anyway, I am keeping the X, but if anyone is thinking of getting an SUV, the new Y looks really sweet and is really comfortable! I was not a fan of ambient lights, but seeing them in person make the car look pretty neat. Also the cooled seats do work well!
chengdu traffic is crazy, that huawei ads is so good, i dont think fsd would survive there for now.
That's one reason of many that pushed me towards the Kia EV3 rather than wait for Tesla to come up with something that I probably won't even want to own.
it's not a monopoly yet, there are others systems.
How do I get a Tesla Insurance quote before I take delivery on a vehicle on order?
once you have a vin and delivery date you should be able to request tesla insurance through the app
Airport parking seems to be a farce. Every airport parking i’ve been to, you gotta pay to get in. How are they negotiating this?
8:04 If all of those additional sensors make the big breakthrough possible, isn’t it smarter to just accept higher COGS and bring true FSD to market?
elon does not believe that is the right approach given the sensor fusion problem
interesting, I wonder if more input sensors means larger AI model that requires more inference compute and more compute/storage during training.
I wonder how much power this Avatar 11 ADS uses.
The car Kyle experienced ADS in was a 2022 model year... hardware likely to have advanced since then.
You think so? Wasn't the software version the newest?
Diplomacy prevails 😎👍🧠💨💯🇨🇦
After spending weeks on the roads of China the ability to autonomously navigate is nothing short science fiction. The drivers are unpredictable.
What if one or two of the components in the Chinese Adas system fail? I heard you mention they were working on an issue with dust.😮

FSD is only fully applied in V13 in the USA, other countries do not allow the full potential.

FSD is not the best feature of Tesla. Once solved or once they go the L3 where it can take over completely for some time, u can say it is the best feature
Tesla will never be L3 as it requires Geofencing. Musk has no plan to geofence. Tesla will go from L2 to L5, where no one else is operating.
🤡
@1:20 there is nothing being negotiated with Canada, trump failed economics in school, business, and office.
Hail Tesla! 😂

Depends on what they do to clean up their act.
