Thank you for all of the videos you've posted. Will we see a CSL door skin in the coming year??? Looking forward to the Zagato Fulvia being completed. Have a healthy and prosperous New Year 🍾🍸🍻

Hi. I have no request to make door panels. Happy new year to you

Sorry to chime in again. I appreciate what you are doing and hope that any comment I make is positive and academic.
On that basis I'm going to go back to the question of making the boot lid skin in one piece.
That notion is reinforced by looking at the reflections in your introduction of the stress across the whole skin caused by the thermal effects of the welding.
Clearly we both understand the complexity of this shape with a large amount of shape across the back and very little at the rear screen end.
I made an aluminium front undertray for my Taiga 3.0CSi which is a quite similar piece shape wise.
Peter Tommasini in Australia has a video of a Ferrari lower front panel where he shows how to control stress in the lower shaped areas which is interesting.
I have been thinking about holding the skin in a clamping system moulded off a good known panel that will restrict the transfer of stress as it does in hammer forming.
Maybe if that mould is complete for the outer and partial, say to where your weld line is on the panel you have made then hammer form the shape up to finishing stage with a flow form hammer.
    Very interesting.
One further question: does the chassis number of your car start with 2275 or 2285 ?

There's more than one way to skin a cat. What's important is the end product which is what has been achieved 🤔🤫🤭🙄😂

@@peterbrenc7669 Agree, however commercially time is also important when it comes to method. A well executed single piece panel is always the aim.
Discussion about method is the way to improve how on goes about the task, or to satisfy that you are already on the right tack.
I have made door skins years ago for CSLs in Aluminium, technically not in the realm of bonnets or boot lid technically.
I might add I have an epoxy press tool for the door handle recess.
It would be great to spend some time with people like Geoff Moss.

@@rexjames0015 I can't say you are wrong, Before I start a new part, I'm never 100%sure I' choosing the good method. For this part I'm happy with the final result and the time I spent on it. (my father spent some time with Geoff Moss ;-))

I spent 4 weeks with GM and his helper James. His skills as a coach builder are beyond question. However, his teaching methods are not as far as I was concerned. He was too busy doing everyday car repairs. We actually attempted to make two CSL boot skins in one piece but failed. To me it felt that he had no interest, at least not as much as he had when making the Porsche 365 bonnet skin but that could have been because he was aware he was being filmed and would be seen on YT. As for Peter Tomasini, having watched many of his videos, his skills which are unquestionable, even he makes an Austin Healey rear wing in more than one piece.
