Buddha has 2 IDE channels so it would be 4 devices. Master and slave would be set per connector. So 2 drives on different connectors of the buddha would both be master. Using a 2 headed IDE cable on 1 connector, then you would use Master and Slave. I have 4 devices on my Buddha.

Yup, I kept yelling at the screen… that rom drive needs to be set to master on its own…

Buddha IDE controller was my favorite for my A3000....
It's simple once you figure it out then its a breeze.
By the time I sold it... THEN I I got one of those Idea to SD card adapters....
That would have made it a dream.
Card was small.. out of the way... only problem maybe was it had no way to stay stablized in the 3000's Zorro slot.
A good table shake could cause issues.
An A500/A1000 Zorro adapter would have been great for those computers to give them IDE drives or even a CD ROM.
Provided of course ya build a neato looking box for it...

I have a Buddha running in my A2000HD yea its running with a large DOM but I was never able to get it to work with CF Cards even after updating the firmware. All I know is I spent more time trying to get that Buddha to work with CF cards and I just gave up on that and just plugged in a 64gb DOM and setup OS3.1.4 and since then I refuse to play with that card. Yes its in my A2000HD but its not something I would recommend to anyone. Lets put it this way if it died tomorrow I would just toss it in the trash because its not a user friendly card. I am happy to see I am not alone in getting that card to work but you got it to work with a CF Card.

I have 3 Buddha's in A2000s. 2 newest models and 1 older model. At one point they have ALL required a re-flashing of the firmware. My suspicion is that these cards are really sensitive to static, even when installed. Anyway, once the the flash is redone, they work perfectly.

Yeah I got a Buddha 20th anniversary, and it work straight out of the box with OS3.2. Using on a3000 with two CF adapters on the back. This works well with my other love an a1200 for swapping data. =D

It probably doesn’t matter by now but… If you have installed a drive, formatted and installed OS and then insert another drive, it will not be accessible until you have run hd-toolbox an saved changes to drive. If you remember- it told you that drives had been added but you only saved the changes for one of them 😊 I had the exact same problems until I figured that out.

    • @j.canotomas251
      @j.canotomas251 Год назад

Oh… and if you then swap them around or change ID (master/slave/port) then you need hdtoolbox again.

I have a Buddha but have not used yet so hopefully mine will work.
I do seem to remember that Jens mentioned something about if you want to use the second ide bus that you needed the IDEfix software or something to that effect. May that have been part of the problem?
Is it possible your friend put the card in the wrong way round?
    Great video though.
    Keep em coming

I had trouble with the buddha DOM install also, gave up on it. I never bothered to find out why it was broken. The Dom seemed like a good idea but just a hassle with the jumper/cable thing. The jumper i think powers the DOM over the ide cable. Some drives ground that line i think? So forgetting the jumper with a cabled drive can cook something on the Buddha.. take this with a grain of salt since my memory is terrible. Using the DOM is a hassle,i experienced the same troubles using it with other things. Also my Buddha needed a update to see/use a CF. Don't use counterfeit cf's off ebay etc.:D A 44pin header on the buddha would of been handy also.

My system, A3000T bought new, with KS 3.2roms and OS3.2, with MK2 68060-50 with scsi adapter and 57megs of ram, Adelane 2 network card, Cybervision video card. I also have a a3000D and A1200. I bought a Buddha IDE from icomp because my scsi hardware were failing and 30-year-old hardware were only available. I have 15 IDE drives and 10 IDE DVD r/w drives. You don't need a CD rom drive, DVD-RW drives work great, and you can use a windozzz machine to copy your files on CD and use them on the Amiga. Just remember to close the CD after a burn, you can use CD or DVD rewriteable and erase them, Make CD works great. The buddha was a LEMON from day one. I kept getting read errors from the DOM, had to use buddharepair and buddharestore many times. Tried to get support from Jens with no success he kept blaming me for mixing OS3.1 and OS3.2 roms and OS3.9 and OS3.2. After 6 weeks I found 3 solder connections that were in question and using a blister microscope I found they were not soldered properly. After the repair the buddha worked great. Another problem with the buddha it does not create an Amiga DOS format. Using QBTools 2.0.2 it shows a non dos disc also SysInfo 4.4 but SysInfo shows 2mb/s HD speed not bad.. The buddha creates a Professional File System (PFS). If you use QBTools and try to fix it will kill your partitions, so watch out. I modified the Buddha_CD_Install, install file to use the buddhascsi.device instead of the atapi.device now Find CD works, and the install works fast with little user input. So, I had problems as have many of other users of the buddha. Good luck to you all.

My understanding is that most CF cards won't function in a master/slave scenario. I.e. the CF card needs to be left alone in the chain.

Thanks for the informative Video Chris 👍🏻 I was going to try and get a Buddha Anniversary edition card to try out on my Micronik 6860 Busboard (Zorro-II) for my A1200 Tower tester system. I think I’ll pass 😉 Had enough trouble with my Blizzard 1230 Mk-III accelerator with SCSI add-on and getting a SCSI setup to work without locking up 🙄

After viewing this and a few other video on Buddha I have boxed mine back up and cancelled the upgrade in my 4000. Am I right after viewing this that I can't install with a current HD setup without losing all data? Fresh install just to get a better ide setup?

Jens hardware is over priced trash - I had 3 rapidroads in 3 different machines and they all died within a month of installing them! jens just blamed my PSU and going through his support forum thats all he ever does is blame the PSU, I have had Indivision ECS that constantly lost it settings so I pulled it out and fitted a rgb2hdmi in its place! So yea dosnt suprise me the trouble you had with this Budda!

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration

my rapid road has been fine for years. i never hooked up the power to it and only fire up Poseidon when i need it. otherwise its off, and use a hub not direct plug ins... learned that from others who had blown up ones.
