    Cloud can fight in the air for more than 2 or 3 hits. It’s about damn time!

      a great addition. I just don't know why they made it so complicated for him to go to mid air, unlike Sephiroth. This game deserved to have a jump buttom, as Kingdom Hearts, would be more intuitive and free for start a air combat.

      ⁠@@shadkuroihow’s is it complicated? Clouds deadly dodge flows perfectly into any move that he has and all u have to do is hold square. Plus what’s you’re in the air, they let u move around as much u want and u have options to jump back down

      U need to dodge, Atack and after a specific hit, dodge again. it doesn't have to be so complicated
      he could just use ○ to go to the enemy as Sephiroth, have a launcher action, or just jump if the game had a jump.

    You can also press triangle while in the air to slam enemies into the ground. Holding square in the air is a different attack than just pressing it. Love the combat.

      You can hold square for a ranged attack into dash which continues momentum but you will drop your combo doing that if held too long. I like to blend holding for two hits and then tapping square twice followed up by circle to continue the aerial string.

    Thanks especially for the bits about maintaining aerial combos and about the ranged attack. When the in-game tutorial dialog pops up, I took ranged attack to mean "area attack" (similar to Deadly Dodge materia from Remake).

      Yeah it's like they built in deadly dodge into his moveset now. That was the first thing I thought of was that materia.

      Oh thanks, yeah this was the Demo Footage before the release of the game so at the time this was all I had to work with - I'm considering doing Advanced Guides now that I'm at the end of Chapter 12 with roughly 140 hours. But I'm not sure anyone would even care at this point - definitely don't want to waste my time editing for no reason.

    well that's nice to know you can fight in the air or have range attacks. In my demo run I never knew you could do that, I don't think it even told you

      Yeah the demo only showed the basics of combat - they did mention Aerial moves but not that you can juggle and remain in the air which is something left for the player to discover. The Aerial Combos was actually the reason I wanted to do this video to begin with; that was the ideation process of creating this guide.
      There was one thing I left out completely by accident was that you can press Triangle mid Air to slam the Enemy down. I like to stay in the air as long as possible as I love to play games like DMC, FF16 etc so I barely used Triangle at all.
      Another tip is, you can Hold Square after Dodge rolling which does a Ranged Attack First and then Cloud Dashes to the Enemy, From here you have three choices to remain in the Air Longer:
      1). Hold Square Again
      2). Press Square
      3). Press Circle
      Just be aware that holding square or pressing square will allow Cloud two more Hits before falling down which is why I mentioned pressing Circle Mid Combo as a Continuation. Triangle in the Air will end the Aerial Combo but slam the enemy down for Stagger and/or Direct Damage. Best to use Triangle as the Stagger Meter Fills up so that the enemy can go into a Stagger State.

    You forgot to mention two very important things about Cloud. In punisher mode if you hold the square button he will do a short combo that ends with him planting his sword in the ground, this will give him the berserk buff/debuff for 10 seconds. Secondly activating punisher mode is a parry by itself so you don't have to use punisher mode then block to get a parry off which takes more time.

    Great tutorial, and for those who like combat the new setting 'Dynamic Difficulty' which scales enemies with Cloud's level will keep things interesting.

      I am curious how Hard Mode will adapt with Dynamic Difficulty after you beat the game or if it will just be called something else...

      @@JDubG Yeah that's another great point - will it go higher than Hard mode or just stay there and go lower which will not be good for that extra challenge. Or maybe they'll have "Dynamic Hard Mode"?

    Toatall missed the void shatter ability. Thought the syn ergy skills were the same but they change depending on who you're controlling.
    Nice comprehensive breakdown. Thanks
    Can't wait to get my teeth into some tougher enemies and put these skills to better use.
    Airborne braver has gotta be most satisfying addition. Feels so good.
    But now I know from your other vid to press triangle for sepgiroths infernal gate then i can quickly switch to cloud and get airborne then smash down. If the enemy lasts long enough anyway 😅

    Intergrade is better. Was mice to playnrhe villian for 1 level though. Kinda disappointed how they changed the triangle button move

    Thanks for that, combat seems so complicated this helps a lot! It helped me with one character yes, but when it's group I'm all over the place. Very frustrating combat tbh. When can you do synergy attacks exactly? I tried the demo couldn't figure it out, at some point I could and at some point I couldn't. Could you please do a group combat guide, when to swap chars etc. also with a lot of things to look at I mean bars and skills etc I get hit a lot even with avoiding and blocking. Sorry, to many questions 😅

      Yeah I agree that the combat can be "overwhelming" compared to FF7 Remake with the Synergy Skill System. What was not present in this Demo (to my knowledge) were the Synergy Skill Pips which are Vertical Blue Lines beneath the ATB Gauge to let us know when we can use Synergy Skills. This felt like the Demo (or perhaps just the tutorial area with Sephiroth) allowed us to use them freely. I bet the Junon Demo will have Synergy Skills Limitation Usage, just a guess. But think of Synergy Skills as this: When your ATB Gauge is Down, use Synergy Skills in its place OR use Synergy Skills when the Enemy is Staggered.
      This was a Beginner Guide but I get the feeling I will end up doing an Advanced Guide video after release OR when the Junon Demo drops as I feel that will accurately be more like the Full Game when it comes to Party Combat.
      As for a Group Combat Guide, 100% Yes, I will be doing one once the Junon Demo drops. I need time with the demo first before making a comprehensive guide.

      @@oxfordking tbh in remake I felt I didn't have control of the battle at all just doing stuff random. Didn't want to buy rebirth for this reason only the combat, otherwise the game is beautiful in everything else. Also ff7 is one of my favourites of all times. Basically I had to understand the combat to enjoy the game 100% after watching your video I'm feeling more confident. So again thanks!

      Well this was like that in FF7 Remake so this is the exact same in Rebirth - but I get what you mean.

      @@oxfordking I know but it’s suppose to be like turn base mode in their own way it’s just annoying when ur about to get hit and use it to counter and before u can select it your hit and have a whole animation of taking damage before u do the thing u commanded lol

      The original FF7's ATB system was like that too, though. Enemies would still hit you while you were selecting your attack, unless you're a wimp and put the game on wait mode that is...

      Guess we'll found out in the upcoming Junon Demo but I highly doubt they would remove move sets after creating, designing and implementing this into his skill sets.

      Counterfire is for incoming ranged attacks only.

      @@oxfordking I got it to work on the screech attack by the brain enemy. Couldnt deflect zu's wind projectile thought..

      @ote It's not the best ever at all, that award belongs to Nioh 2, no contest.
      Personally, I find this combat system to be clunky and unresponsive and yes, I've beaten the remake on hard mode, I still think it's clunky.
      There are good ideas with it, but it doesn't go all the way, even with the improvements in Rebirth.
