  • @lelenbates3367
    @lelenbates3367 Год назад +1

    Since you had a problem with the transfer case you might want to take a look at the A750F transmission connector if you have an automatic transmission. I had a shift solenoid 1 fault and it wouldn't shift to first gear and was not wanting to move. The wire seal over the solenoid 1 pin leaked and the water corroded the very thin pin and it broke off so i had to replace the internal transmission wiring harness. I was able to take the plug apart and and clean the corrosion and remove the broken pin, but I also bought a replacement plug just in case. Anyone that off-roads with a 2005-2015 Toyota with a A750E or A750F transmission should pull this plug and inspect it for corrosion or you risk getting stranded. The leak at the molded silicone wire seal which can be further sealed with the addition of a little RTV with a cotton swab or tooth pick.

      @overlandingworld  2 года назад +2

      After your comment I went over and opened the little cover. There is no shift forks for a shifter to engage, so unfortunately it won’t be possible.

    • @DrKnowNothing1
      @DrKnowNothing1 Год назад

      No. The shift rods are in a completely different location inside the cases. On top in the manual actuated cases. In the center of the actuated cases, so that the electronic actuators hanging off the back of the cases are lined up w the shift rods.
      The only way to make an actuated case manual would be to break the actuators off the back of the case, an then add cable shifters grabbing onto the back of those protruding rods. But you might need to add some sort of plate or block with an O-ring to replicate the sealing effect of those actuators.
      Some older 4x4s came stock w cable-shifted t-cases.

    If anyone else is facing this issue and can’t/ hasn’t been able to swap to the manual transfer case. You can usually pop the transfer case actuator off and clean all the water and grease out and scrub the contacts clean to get everything back working and get back into the right gear!

  • @Marcandred

      @overlandingworld  2 года назад +1

      Yup you will loose the center diff in this case.

    • @DrKnowNothing1
      @DrKnowNothing1 Год назад

      The FJ manual transmission T-case has a center differential, and is the same length as the sequoia t-cases ( no driveshaft spacer needed), BUT it has the wrong input shaft. Toyota manual transmissions and automatics have different output shafts. So you have to take the cases apart and swap input shafts. I’ve heard it’s possible to swap from auto to manual, but not manual to auto. Not sure why.

    • @DrKnowNothing1
      @DrKnowNothing1 Год назад

      Also, the manual trans FJ t-case has no 2wd mode. Only awd and 4x4 (center diff locked).

    • @DrKnowNothing1
      @DrKnowNothing1 Год назад

      The t-case from the automatic transmission FJ. You won’t need a driveshaft spacer because the tundra t-case doesn’t have a center differential, so it will be the same size.
      Look into a 1st gen tundra 4x4 V6 model (unusual), but if you can find one, everything might swap over. T-case, shifter, maybe even the electronics. (4x4 computer hidden behind the glovebox.

    • @rootedinredwoods
      @rootedinredwoods Год назад +1

      I used one from a 1998 Tacoma for my 1st gen Tundra but I also swapped out the automatic for the 5-spd manual from the same Tacoma. Pretty sure you could just use the transfer case if you wanted though because the automatic transmission for the 1st gen Tundra is the same as the 1st gen Tacoma

Im sure you guys took that off (one x12mm) and removed a blank plug from the FJ TC to swap on the sequoia one in. My question is the sequoia speed sensor has a plastic gear that spins on the spline gear on the sequoia TC but my FJ cruiser TC has no spline (smooth shaft) so the plastic gear on the speed sensor has no way to attach or line up to spin to get a speed reading. Did you guys have a problem or is it only me with this random fj tc? Lol thanks any info be nice

      We dont know exactly what failed. But we were stuck in low range and there was no way for us to come out of it, we resulted into braking the actuator to be able to go into 2wd and getting the car home. A new actuator costs more than the fj transfer case so it was a no brainer swap.

      It would have worked, though you would still have to cut the hole for the shift lever, which went away in 2005. BUT the early 1st gen sequoia T-cases still used an electronic actuator (1, instead of 2) for the mode rod. (2wd, vs awd, vs 4x4). Also, the case would have been the same length, so no driveshaft spaced needed.
