  • Here's the best value GPUs to buy at every price point for June of 2024:
    Best GPU under $200
    RX 6600: amzn.to/3v5tNja
    Best GPU near $200
    RX 6650 XT: amzn.to/3xvShDd

    Best $800 GPU
    RTX 4070 Ti Super: amzn.to/3T0Kfuz
Past this point is diminishing returns on "value" and next gen could be out soon:
    Best $1000 GPU:

I want High FPS 4K Ray Tracing, I don't care about price:

Note: in the video you see I struggle with some Amazon listings showing unusually low prices on certain AMD graphics cards. I investigated these listings after filming, and they all seem to be from a 3rd party seller called "Вaseball Cap-shop". I would be HIGHLY suspicious that these are some kind of scam listing, although I don't have definitive proof.

Some of these recommendations are wrong...
RX 7900 GRE is faster than a 4070 SUPER and costs under $600 while it offers 16GB over the 4070S 12GB
      RX 7900 XTX is better than a 4080S has 24GB VRAM and it's cheaper by a $100

      7900 XTX on amazon for $799 👍

    • @danielowentech
      @danielowentech  8 дней назад +5

I explain my reasoning for those recommendations in the video. For example, the 7900 xtx usually has a single digit performance lead in non-rt games, which doesn't offer a significantly different experience, while the 4080 super can handle some RT experiences that the 7900xtx simply can't, while also having a better upscaler, etc. The price difference isn't much when we are talking ~$1000, and 16GB is enough VRAM. So I'd personally prefer and recommend the 4080 super. I also mentioned that some people may disagree if you don't care at all about RT or other feature set differences. But I stand by this decision, and I have the 4080 super in my secondary personal PC (4090 is in my main), when I could have used a 7900xtx since I own both.

Get a 7800 X3D instead if it is for gaming. The extra cores on the 7950 X3D don't have the 3D-vcache and so don't help in gaming, and the 7900X3D only has 6-cores with v-cache so it can actually be worse for gaming in games that can utilize 8 cores. The 79XX3D parts only make sense if you are also doing heavy multi-core productivity workloads on a regular basis in addition to gaming.

Thing is I am gaming with a 1080 and based on the various leaks and rumors it seems the 5080 will be gimped heavily due to China restrictions, so on top of that who knows what will happen with tariffs and sanctions, plus short supply, scalpers, and then the real value will probably be 5080ti which won't come until late 2025, makes me wonder if we might be heading for another dark age of GPU pricing and availability so I am wondering if I should just buy now and have something to ride out the storm. I understand the argument from the performance side of things, but power draw and thermals should also be considered when recommending graphics cards. A 6750XT may give more performance than a 7600XT, but it's also going to be drawing more power for it, and therefore, going to run hotter. Depending on someone's situation, getting a card that draws less power and runs cooler may be a better option. You can say "get more power and better cooling", but then that starts to increase the price of the 6750XT all the more. (that's also beside the fact that 6750XTs are getting harder to come by these days and prices are reflecting that)

If you’re looking to spend 500-550 wait for the 8800xtx. Amd can’t charge more than that due to the msrp of the 7800xt and you’ll get a card that performs between a 7900 xtx and 7900 xt.

I hear your argument about the XTX vs the 4080 Super, the problem is that @4k there are already games that when you crank the settings to Max(WITHOUT RAYTRACING) you are already using around 14.5GB+ of VRAM. That is NOT a lot of VRAM spare for the use of RayTracing. So while I personally want the Raytracing Capabilities the Nvidia GPUs bring to the table, the AMD GPU will last me longer simply because they have more VRAM and all I have to do is sacrifice using Raytracing. To me at least, that isn't that big of a sacrifice, even if I really do like the way RayTracing looks.

Gaming at 1080p, In my country 7700xt costs way more than 4060ti 8 gig still so i don't regret on upgrading from a 1060 6 gig cos of mainly these reasons..1) Much less cost than 7700xt 2) Much lower Tdp 3)Older gen gpu's not in stock, 4) Its very hot weather where i live,. My older card started causing issues cos it got too old so had a tight budget.

16:39 yeah definitely a lot of scam listings, I recently saw a Sapphire 7900 XTX sold at 550 dollars, and I am so glad I didn't have the money to buy it at the time cuz I contacted Sapphire about it on Twitter once the price went back up and they told me it was indeed a scam listing. I was already pretty skeptical of the reviews and that it wasn't sold by amazon however, but yeah I know to be very careful for next time.

got a 6750 xt, it was 180 $ cheaper than the 7700xt, and around the mark for a 4060ti for my country, just a little cheaper, like at max 40 $ difference

That's why I pay for youtube premium. I have a family membership and we get way more use out of it than we do with our Netflix or any of the other subscriptions. You get access to a lot of movies on youtube too.

I've never used RT in my life and might never use it. The only reason I got the 4080 super was because I got it for 100 dollars cheaper than the 7900xtx

Yes. I bagged a 6950 xt for $420 and its faster than a 4090 in 103% of scenarios

Basically with nvidia you always want to go for the cheapest option that offers a certain amount of VRAM. 4070, 4070 Ti super, 4090. Ignore everything inbetween.

In Brazil, GPUs are more expensive than in the USA. Aside from the US price, we also pay taxes for international transactions, and these taxes are insane. Given this, the best choice in terms of price and VRAM is the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB.
For my needs, which include gaming, using DaVinci Resolve Studio, and running local AI apps, having more VRAM is far more important than the rasterization power of the GPU. The price difference between the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB and the next 16GB VRAM card, the RTX 4070 Ti Super, is significant. It's almost enough to buy another RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. When comparing performance, the RTX 4070 Ti Super is only about 30%-40% better than the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, making it a bad choice for my usage.
In summary, if you are only gaming, the RTX 4070 Ti Super might be a better option. However, if your usage is professional and not focused on 4K applications, the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB makes more sense.
AMD Radeon is not mentioned because professionals doesn't use Radeon because has not CUDA, and all professionals use CUDA.

why waste the money and time if you are bored, maybe try a new hobby. If you play at 1440p why do you need more fps the RX 7000 doesn't really offer any meaningful tech up grande over the 6000 series. save your money and wait for next-gen it's six months until the next cards are out or you could upgrade to an OLED monitor, CPU upgrade.

Only reason to bother is if you need the extra VRAM for AI workloads.

In my country, the 4060 Ti is the same price as the 6700 XT and 7600 XT. Therefore, I recommend people buy the 4060 Ti because it is objectively a better card.
