- Assist Trophies across the Smash titles are by far one of the most rad items ever! I mean, summoning a beloved character to throw down alongside you in battle is mondo cool...though that also means they can never become an actual fighter. If you take one good look at the list of Assist Trophies across Brawl, Smash 4, and Ultimate you'll quickly realize that a TON of these characters would make for some amazing roster slots! In fact, that begs the question: which assist trophy would be the best newcomer if given the chance? And ugh yeah that's literally the video so stop reading the description and watch it, dawg!

And the Squid Sisters. Maybe they aren't the most popular of the idol groups in Splatoon (idk, I'm a casual fan), but dang it, they were the first, and quite frankly, some of the most recognizable. Plus, if it weren't for them, we wouldn't have Calamari Inkantation. And while they aren't the best choices, at least they could work as skins/semi-clones/Echo Fighters for Inkling.

Any of the idols in my eyes would just be more restricted versions of those two because you’d pretty much have to boil them down to their basic character traits or preferences as they would technically have less weapons to choose from compared to the avatars.

Starfy is an absolute UNIT. he literally stops the moon from crashing into the earth, has an already versatile moveset to pick from in his game, and all round is just an insane pick for a fighter. I think he also had a mount/transformation system where he can turn into various animals iirc. can't believe you did my star boy dirty like that, smh

Okay, i feel like you got too personally biased with spring man. The no tier should only include the characters that flat out can't make for good playable characters, like nintendogs and rathalos, not characters that technically could in the same way dr mario has, ei clone fighters. Spring man could 100% become an echo fighter or clone of min min, so him being in f is beyond unreasonable.
How can he be echo fighter of her when they don't have the same moves set at all? They don't even have the same design for once he have boxing gloves for hands while she has dragon heads for hands. Blind person can see that. You don't even have to play the games arms to see that either. Spring man sucks.

Crazy to me how the squid sisters both have a ton of character development, dialogue, time to shine, etc throughout all 3 splatoon games, yet people will say they like shiver and Frye more somehow. Like I can understand off the hook, they’re actual characters with personalities, but shiver and Frye are literally just dollar store off the hook. The only thing making them stand out is big man, and even then he has the personality of a wet towel. Squid sisters hate only exists because 90% of splatoon fans didn’t play the first game and don’t read the dialogue during the story modes

I'm all for Knuckles being playable, I imagine he could inherit some of the skeleton from Sonic to make things easier, but in order to be true to the character he really needs his own stuff, and I like what he can do.
Also, one of his costumes needs to have a hat.

Spring Man is worthy of at least a C+ or C- tier. Even if he would most likely be a carbon copy of Min Min, that’s still more potential than freaking pong.
At least put Spring Man in the bottom of D tier. Because unlike the rest of the characters above F tier. He could actually be playable and could have possible move sets. Maybe it won’t be good move sets but at least it would be better than any move of the sets Pong could possibly have.
There is a rather easy way to fix the issue of Sukapon potentially angering Rayman fans... just put them both in, we gotta have the limbless fight of the century. Throw in Plok for good measure too.
I'm still coping at the fact Knuckles is an assist trophy in Ultimate. Same with Zero, both DESERVE to be on the roster as selectable characters.
Same with both a lot also shadow,Bomberman and shovel knight you can't convince me they would not be perfect for that role of being playable
Alucard will always be my number 1. There are about a billion attacking capabilities and movement options in SotN that would translate perfectly to Smash.

Since sonic has the highest base speed in the game, and knuckles contrasts sonic, Knuckles would have the most powerful base strength.
Really agree with the last 3 picks. Bomberman could be really cool as a character with his bomb kicks and a potentially amazing final smash (hopefully with characters before Super R), knuckles is Sonic's first rival, plus his digging could provide more movement options than shadow's chaos control since it's probably just gonna be that one mewtwo move, and waluigi is just way past overdue.
Dillons rolling western had a lot of fun tower defense and resource collection in its gameplay so having those elements included in his kit would be very interesting 17:29

Gray fox contacts Snake via his codec in MG1 one and goes by an alias to hide his identity because the two of them used to be part of the same unit. The reason he goes by Deepthroat is apparently a reference to the Water Gate scandal. The whistle-blower on that scandal (who was apparently an FBI agent) used that same alias.

Hammer Bro has potential imo. His neutral special could throw random projectiles that are based off the "Bro" enemies (fire ball, ice ball, hammer, boomerang, pan). His dash attack could be unique in that you can charge it like Charging Chucks (as seen in Super Mario Odyssey). His up special could just be King Dedede's (referencing Sledge Bro's). He could have the same gimmick as Peach where holding the jump button puts him in a Lakitu's cloud (the difference being that you can still throw projectiles). His forward smash could be him smacking you with the red button (seen in Mario & Luigi Paper Jam). His down smash could a elektric stomp (referencing Sumo Bro's). In his side special he could use a magic wand that shoot a slow homing projectile that gives a random effect (referrencing Kamek/magikoopa's). In his down special he could go in his shell and essentially acting as Wario's Bike. His final smash could be an Airship where you use Bowser's Claw (seen in New Super Mario Bros U) to squish opponents and as a final blow you shoot a King Bill (seen in New Super Mario Bros Wii). He could have a single jump that can go very far and high (maximum length can reach the other side of Final destination in Ultimate). His taunts could be; the "Bah Dance" (seen in the New series), angry stomping (as seen in Mario & Luigi Paper Jam). Feel free to add to this

I will say about Mother Brain, even though I haven't played Metroid at all I do know that she has some sort of dinosaur-like form that she takes in the end of Super Metroid, which can, in fact, move. Still probably doesn't move her all that far up the list though, but at least a little bit.

The Assist Trophies I want to see become fighters in future games are Krystal, Shovel Knight, Knuckles, Ashley, Shadow, Spring Man, Alucard, Tiki, and of course Waluigi! Guile and Starfy are at least possibilities. And I would want Kat & Ana (my favorite assist trophy of all time and was upset when they were removed in Ultimate) to either become fighters or come back assist trophies again!

Chef Kawasaki absolutey could be a fighter. He already has plenty of moves thanks to his playable appearance in Kirby Star Allies, and all the moves that he still needs could implement other Mini Bosses from the Kirby series. Like he could summon Bugzy for his Throws or Vividria for those little drawings of Kirby Characters that act as wandering hazards.
Not only would it be a good representation of the Kirby Mini Bosses which are a staple for the series but it could also work nicely to represent the Partner Mechanic seen in many Kirby Games.

Agreed, I feel like the X series design is more likely to be chosen by developers due to the Zero series being more obscure, but the Zero series design has much more unique weapons and the Zero games themselves were my favorite in the series. I would love to see him in smash using the boomerang shield to reflect projectiles and throw it as an attack, as well as use the chain rod as a distance grab like Link's hookshot or Lucas' rope snake.

Riki is not D tier. How is putting foes to sleep too much for a fighter ? How is healing too much ? How is buffing a stat too much ? Hero does all of this, wii-fit trainer can heal or buff themselves, jigs can put you to sleep...
Riki can also breathe fire, poison cloud, ice magic, make a silly dance, use stances, trip opponents, use backslash, inflict several debuffs, use an attack that get stronger for each debuff but removes them, steal items, play dead (ok maybe don't use that) or just beat you up with his stick. He also talks funny and is cool. Don't put him on the same tier as Blinky. How is he lower than excite bike ?
Also idk I feel like if Daisy were an actual fighter she could just take waluigi's moveset idea.

You know which assist trophie baffled me the most not being a actual fighter.
It is Knuckles! He moves and handles like Sonic and only differs in his unique moves which are already fully programed and implemented. He can glyde ,he can dig and he can punch.
He seems so easy to just make him in to a fully playable fighter.
It would be the exact same scenario as is with villager and Isabelle. They both play and handle very similar to one another but differ in thiere special moves and some attacks so they can't count as eccofighters.
Knuckles and sonic could have done the exact same thing and it would be game accurate because they also handle similarly in many of their games like for example sonic Mania.
They made half a moveset for Krystal, Zero, Alucard and Knuckles. I feel like if the devs really wanted to they could’ve made them playable. Imagine their Amiibo too. I really wish Assist Trophies got Amiibo.

here's my idea for Waluigi's moveset (mainly the specials)
neutral - Item Box (throws a Mario Kart item box on the ground, and gets a random item (he's a cheater, he brings items to a no-item match))
side - dice block (like Game & Watch's number, but with range)
up - air swimming
down - stomp (from his Assist Trophy days)
smash attacks - golf (down), baseball (side), tennis (up), with an added small projectile
final smash - Destruction Dance

What's actually really odd about Ike in Smash Bros is he's a slow power fighter but in the actual fire emblem games he's from or at least in path of radiance the game he originally came from, Ike actually can be really fast in that game. So in theory the Black Knight whose big slow and powerful should be a very different fighter but since Ike was turned into a slow power fighter yeah I could see why somebody would say the Black Knight would end up being some kind of variation of him
My friend who gave me some pointers about the Fire Emblem stuff in the vid actually told me that same exact thing. I suppose it was to make him stand out compared to Marth when he was introduced in Brawl. Although the bad thing about smash is that once you’re made a certain way it’s near impossible to break away from that.
I really want Zero from Megaman in the next game even though I’m not super upset about him being an assist trophy here, that’s still better than nothing
He would be so broken just like he is in the Capcom Vs. Series and I’m a huge fanboy for him. As much as I really want some of the assist trophies as playable characters instead, I’m not pissed off or going to lose sleep over it. Even though I want another Zelda fighter, it doesn’t anger me that I didn’t get one.
21:56 in defense to Dr.Wily in Megaman Football (or Megaman Soccer) Wily do have some sort of battle armor for him to be able to play Football so if Dr.Wily would be in they must use his machine from that Football game just like the fan-game Megaman 8-bit Deathmatch did for his Playable appearance
I feel like, if you want to make the idea of Dr. Wily summoning Robot Masters work...I feel it would be best to utilize a boss from Mega Man 10: The Weapons Archive. It's a machine that can utilize the data of Robot Masters throughout the series. I imagine you could make it similar in execution to Hero's Command Selection (but not NEARLY to the same excessive lengths), where you pick from one of 3 or 4 Robot Masters and summon the Weapons Archive to use one of said Robot Master's attacks. It'd be relegated to a Special Attack, though, and not the full moveset.
Maybe it'd have its own gauge, like using Special Weapons in the Mega Man series proper...28 units, though.

Dark Samus once was an assist trophy but got the upgrade into a full fighter in smash ultimate
Little Mac is another example for this except the upgrade happened in smash 4
like 5 of these of the characters here have movesets in super smash flash two and I'm sad he didn't mention it (I love the Rivals of Aether mention though with shovel knight)
38:42 How this works is the fact that Samus actually has a lot of punches and kicks ever since her inclusion in the original Smash Bros but she was never known for punches and kicks so you could still choose to add punches and kicks for Bomberman anyway. Plus like you said about the various moves he has in farm and hero and the various different styles of bombs you can throw, in Bomberman pockets on the Game Boy color he has a sword. Okay he never uses it You never attack with it, but when the tile screen shows up he pulls out a sword. It's weird that he does that only at that point in the game and you don't ever get to use it in the game but I mean technically there it is There's a sword.😂

Y'know, I'm sure the mad scientists over at the rivals of aether modding community will find a way to make the ones at the bottom into fighters, they're just built like that
I would actually love to see Midna and Krystal. Midna would work similar to Duck Hunt but using a giant hair fist and riding Wolf Link who will also have some of his own movesets in combination with Midna. Krystal has so much potential. We haven't really seen her use her staff, except for the endgame of Star Fox Adventures but seeing how the assist trophy moves, they could easily input those same attacks but also add more.
Personally, Knuckles instead of Tails would make no sense to me. It would be like having Gray Fox instead of Raiden

We even got the community events like the battle for Waluigi and defending Waluigi so off course all of his fan basse have had enough of the minor roles with in the series like assist trophy spirit regular trophy and sticker

1. Incredible video for such a small channel! I genuinely assumed you had thousands of subscribers, and then checked and saw you didn’t.
2. You made a joke about how no one wanted Spring Man in Smash, but I 100% disagree. Like, Spring Man was already a very unique character by the standards of the Smash roster, and Min Min kind of looks too weird. Secondly, I am of the belief that the main face of a video game should be the one in Smash, so Min Min being in there is odd, especially since Arms already isn’t well known in the first place.

Thanks for the kind words! Though the thing about ARMs is that I’m not quite sure if Spring Man is the face of the series or not. Like, he is the “main” guy/on the cover, but I like the creator’s line of thinking where there’s not really a single main character, as they all are in a way. Normally I agree in that logic, but for ARMs I’m so glad they went with Min Min!

There’s pieces of mii swordfighter’s moveset I could see working had Samurai Goroh actually been a fighter since they gave him moves similar to falcon’s in power thrust mainly but blurring blade could also be smthn goroh could work with to an extrnt
52. Well, Mother Brain does get up and walk around in Super Metroid as well as use some other moves. So there is a bit more to draw off of then just a brain shooting one laser. (That laser was actually used when she was standing up and was WAY more harmful to Samus than how it's represented in Smash Bros.) But yeah. I feel like Mother Brain is one Assist Trophy they could have done a bit better with.

In my opinion I think bomberman could focus less on having various moves as different bombs and more as move sets designed for setting up a combat system that feel like you are playing the first game. Example is a mechanic like Steve’s blocks that can be set on the ground and exploded with your bombs.
Riki could ABSOLUTELY make it in with a moveset, with tons of different magic attacks, melee attacks, he could be a floaty heavy thanks to his suprising bulk in Xenoblade and they could totally include nopon technology such as pollen orbs, tamed beasts, or if we want to include nopon technology from the later xenoblade games, sky is the limit. Heck the biter itself could make for a funny command grab where it swallows you whole like yoshi does
A different story is the likelyhood people want him in and if he is a good reprisentative from xenoblade compared to Noah/Mio/Dunban/Seven etc etc. But he has tons of potential for a moveset
I think mother brain could work actually. Not the form she has as an assist trophy, but rather the final form from the end of super Metroid. Scale her down a little bit, and she'd be pretty fun to play as.
Waluigi is so much of a wanted character, he breaks the typical ranking system, not surprised in the slightest.
If I was in charge of the next Smash Bros game, and could literally any of the Assist Trophies to the main roster, here's what I would choose;

I think the ghosts (from Pacman) should get in as a fighter just because they're kinda the only characters that aren't just different colored pacfolk, but I don't know what their moveset would be. (The way all four would be included would be the same as Hero, with each ghost having one alt. I also want one of the alts to be based on Luigi's Mansion.))
