I have a friend who gets lip fillers every now and then. First time I saw her after that I was like "something is different", but I wasn't too sure what it was. She wore no make up, so that wasn't it. She later told me she'd gotten lip fillers and I then took a closer look at her lips. It was done so subtle that it looked just natural. It CAN be done in a way that appears natural. Problem is, if you want something that's FAR from your natural lip, then it will probably also look very unnatural and weird. The other problem though, of course, is migrating fillers and not fully dissolved fillers. THAT is another story.

You also have to remember to consider the size of your eyes. If you have naturally smaller to medium sized eyes your eyes may seem smaller and disappear more into your face if you get lip filler. Yes, facial harmony is very important. It’s one reason why rhinoplasty is so popular. People always comment on those videos like “your nose was okay, before” but the point is the old nose was ruining harmony. Achieving a high level of harmony is more important than looking like a model, imo.

As someone in their 40s who didn’t get it done till I was 37 I will tell you the BIGGEST issue is finding a decent doctor. Nurses are great for other services but I only trust my actual plastic surgeon with my face. I still have lip filler. It can last between 2-5 years depending. I also notice a huge difference if I’m not drinking enough water; my lip filler has hylauronic acid in it.

There are lots of varying factors though. In the UK you don’t need a license to inject filler which is why they have an uncanny filler problem. If you go to a good injector and get a very minimal amount done, it can look great. Especially for people with volume loss from aging who want their natural lips back.

It depends on the overall thickness. 1:1 and both upper and lower lip quite pronounced? Sure. But 1:1 and both thin? McGonagall.
For everything in between it's a range and the rule is probably better interpreted as "the ratio shouldn't exceed 1:2". Form and width certainly also play a role.

I like that South Korean and Japanese beauty standards are influencing the west in the 2020s because my mixed Amerindian physical features are similar. I'm obviously more tan, and I dislike their skin lightening, but I do like much of the rest.
I have small lips that are medium plumpness. They look thin when I smile. My lip ratio is more 1.5:2. The top is a touch thinner.
I feel like people don't think about the width enough because wide mouths with very plump lips look clownish. I miss the bee stung lips that are small. It's so youthful. I personally don't look bee stung, but I am not interested in lip filler.
My unique feature is a dramatic cupid's bow. Apparently, a heavily defined cupid's bow is uncommon. I refuse to bow to the trend of filling in the upper lip. I honestly do like my lips. They look just like a heart if I paint geisha style lips.
People forget that filler will age you unless you're 50+. The skin becomes saggy due to being expanded. The longer you have it without dissolving it, the more you need in order to counteract the sagging and migrating filler (scary in my opinion). Older women lose fullness, so the filler fixes that. Younger women are basically trapping themselves in a long-term commitment with cosmetic procedures. There's a lot of body dysmorphia happening here, and it's being cheered on by onlookers watching a trainwreck.

@@CatSchrodingers i agree, there is beauty in every feature. But maybe for some people who feel insecure or not very confident it could be a good thing (obviously not when overdone).
My mom is a beautiful woman. She was overweight most of her adult life and she lost a ton of weight after getting bariatric surgery. Her face sunk and is very hollow now, she has lost all her volume and skin has sagged. I find her beautiful but her own self worth has diminished. Surgery is costly, scary, and painful. She wishes she could get it though.
Everyone has a different story, we shouldn’t judge what someone decides to do with their own body, we all have bodily autonomy. I am happy to hear you are choosing to age naturally :)

  • @tauraäæàâãąåáāăąàâāæăâąäå

I used to regularly get lip filler, but because my natural lips were already big they didn't make much of a dramatic difference, however, its when your natural lips are paper thin that you'll end up looking like you have sausage lips when you inject filler because there's not enough skin so it looks tight like a balloon (like the blonde girl in this video). But naturally big lips will still have that soft pillowy look because theres enough skin.

hello everyone, please keep in mind that there's a small chance to get necrosis from fillers, people have even gone blind through them
if you hit important blood vessels, that can happen!
make sure you think that's really worth it and that you're informed about all the risks + how to identify the onset symptoms of the really bad things that very rarely happen, just in case it happens to you.
+ filler migrates over time and doesn't fully disolve, even after years.
it will fill out your face, stretch it if you do it too much, and if you don't keep getting it after that point, your face will sag. but if you do keep getting it, you'll be overfilled after a couple years and look uncanny, the duck look etc
filler has only been around for about 25 years, we don't know if there's any adverse side effects after that, too.
not telling you not to do it if you want it, just keep that in mind so you have all the infos you could possibly have to look out for yourself!
