Glad you are back.I was a home organizer back in the day. All of my kitchen items are mounted on the walls and doors of my tiny kitchen. I found your vid. funny because it's totally obvious AS SOON as you think of it. But not before. Welcome back girls and kittys have missed you ...all.
That was brilliant! I love the collapsible bowl! And thank you for introducing me to Sugru. It’s AH-MAZING! You should be sponsored by them the sales you’ve generated xx
Hiya love this little vid and Alice at the beginning was such a cutie pie, I have that same hoover to get all the dust out is a bit of a bugger I watched a youtube video on how to take it apart to clean it which helped. Have a great week x
Alice is such a little performer. She loves when the camera is pointing at her. And when we are looking at her and paying her all the attention. I found that taking the collection bin off and poking a wet wipe in around the area that I can't get to combined with banging it on the table to get all the dust out. Seems to do the job. Just annoying as I feel like I'm doing it every time I use it at the moment because the coal ash is getting everywhere. Moan over ;-) I still love it though!
I have a Joseph Joseph wash and drain bowl, it's great. As I have a Belfast sink it's hardly sensible to fill that to wash a few dishes. I also when I'm finished I take the washing water out to the garden and water the pot plants in summer..
Ive got a wire rack for draining the dishes - it has two levels and can be hung. I would also have the sink drainer right in the corner next to your cooker - gives more workable kitchen top space.
Excellent ideas, I will certainly use some of those on our boat. I have a Dyson and couldn’t decide where to store it but as our kitchen is very similar to yours I’ll put it there.I also love my pans from last years video they were my birthday present last year.
Hey Guys, I too am a huge fan of the Dyson V6. Its great for the boat. Regarding your comments about the dust. Once you have the bottom flap open gently press down further on the red bin release mechanism. That will release the entire bin from the motor section. I then use an old tooth brush to remove dust/particles etc from the top internal area of the collection bin. I do this when I notice trapped dust etc. Once a month I then wipe down the rubber seal and filter area with a damp cloth, then leave overnight to thoroughly dry. Just be careful and patient when re-attaching the waste bin, it's fiddly but you just ensure you get it correctly housed. Many thanks to you both for the great videos.
Hi Paul, I found that taking the collection bin off and poking a wet wipe in around the area that I can't get to combined with taping on the table to get all the dust out. Seems to do the job. Can't wait till winter is over and the fire is off so that I can have a few months off cleaning the vacuum! Its a great little vacuum though - way better than an earlier cordless one that we had that used to lose suction as soon as the battery was under 100%.
Thank you for all your fun content! I am watching chronologically from the beginning. Before watching your videos I had never heard of Sugru. Maybe it hasn't gotten as popular in the U.S., or maybe I live under a rock. Ha! Thanks for showing the packet so I could see what you were talking about. I looked it up and think I should probably get some of that! ;-)
I can't speak for your model of Dyson but mine, and all others I've seen, dismantle to allow cleaning of the interior canister and filter. Perhaps check the manual. Nifty use of every nook and cranny. Clever.
I really like the roll goods holder, Caloric made something like that in the 1970's but theirs was designed to fit inside a wall, and would match the Caloric Appliances for that whole kitchen look. FYI it would be less expensive for me to buy the roll goods dispenser from Amazon UK and have it shipped to the US than it would be to buy it from Amazon in the US. I have a kitchen I need to remodel, I really think I want one of those. As for space saving ideas, I have one for you. When I bought my new refrigerator magnets were banished from its pristine surface. I purchased some magnetic 410m stainless steel sheet stock the size I needed, cleaned it op with a scotchbrite pad, and used construction adhesive to attach it to the inside two of my kitchen cabinet doors. Now we have a place to hang things with magnets, and those things are out of view.
Another great video👌that device for paper towel etc is just what I’m looking for... in my old working boat I have even less space so there’s tin foil stacked on top of cling film that’s on top of paper towel, it’s chaos in my living quarters😂😂 and I won’t even talk about DVD storage, nightmare😩 thanks for the tips. This spring will be the dawn of a storage revolution🤔
The Narrowboat Experience it's great to put a bit of velcro on the back of your mobile phone etc and put a bit on the bit of the car windscreen visor so that those that drive a car that can't Bluetooth to the radio etc can hear their tunes while they drive and for those that use Google maps and only need audio of Google maps can hear their turnes and Google maps audio stops the tunes when giving directions etc but all because of velcro
Wow! I love the dispenser. I know they come in foil and cling wrap but I didn't know they came with a paper towel dispenser. I am going to hunt around for one for myself. I hate the paper towel on a stick that always gets wet when I try and get a piece. Never mind the fight I have with the cling wrap. I always lose that one. Thanks for the great tip.
I love it too! I did buy a giant roll of kitchen paper and get cross that it was too big. I still put it in and struggled manually moving it round every time I wanted a bit of paper. Then Anna came along and promptly took it out. Now we've used enough that it fits again! I cut myself on the cling wrap box so many times on the old system so I'm really happy with the dispenser. There are some that come with a 4th section - for freezer bags - so if you use them a lot then that might be useful to you. Happy shopping ;-)
the same thing happened just after filming when I realised the tin foil was empty... Luckily it lasts ages so I won't need to be taking it apart again for a while ;-p
Fab video I move on to my first boat in a couple of weeks and this has given me lots of ideas 💡 although I need to google sugroo ( probably spelt wrong) now? Lol
Thank you I’m really excited and scared half to death too lol 😂 I’m a single crew and disabled so it’s just plan plan plan at the moment.. I absolutely love your videos thank you guys 😊
A vacuum cleaner "that's _not_ really suitable for cleaning up dust" eh?? Reminds me of when Lord Percy became an alchemist and created a nugget of some precious "Green" on Blackadder :)
I should have said not suitable for cleaning up large amounts of very fine dust, specifically coal dust. It cleans all of it up but it just needs a very thorough clean afterwards.
Found your channel a few months ago and have had a wonderful time catching up on all your early videos!. This one isn't monetised? Can you not do this with all your earlier videos? . Cheers for taking us with you! :)
You girls are sooo clever! Now all you need is a minature robot that will utilize all those products, and you will be Narrowboat Queens! (If you do invent one, I'll expect a commission check) much love!
I tried to to make aluminum paper but, my attempt at it was foiled.... Nice video and nice to see Munchy and Alice (and of course you ladies). I'm sure those plastic storage thingies that you used on the back seat of the car with pockets can help to save space on board a narrow boat if you can hang them behind a door.... :)
Wondered where you had got to, you were missed! Oh yes, do you know where the dispenser came from and does it have a brand, I think one like that would be great in our smallish kitchen...
We took a week off! Last weekend we were going to take the boat out despite the weather and film that but as it suddenly bucketed down with rain we changed our minds. The dispenser was from Amazon. There is a link in the description. I'm sure there are other brands as I looked at a few.
Hi Neil, it was a bit pricey but it has lasted well. After a quick clean I think it still looks as good as new after lots of use in the last 18 months. Its made by Simple Human - amzn.to/2FtrpUl
Sorry about your sticky drawers , not nice having having sticky drawers. Depending on type, cures are available - if simple wooden sliders candle wax is good , you simply rub it onto the side of the draw and particularly the runners. If very sticky a little sanding with a fine paper 180/240 grit then wax, a old fashioned wax polish can help too. If metal rails/ rollers bearings PTFE spray is good but vaseline will ease it or good old 3in1!
Hi there, we don't have the sofa bed, just a sofa. It gets a fair amount of use and the cushions seemed to have stood up to the challenge. The cover material seems hard wearing too. I haven't really studied too much but the cats like to have a little scram of the arms a few times a day (when we don't feed them quick enough) and I don't think that they have managed to do any damage. There are two things we don't like about it - the first is that the cushion covers don't stay in place after much use so you have to take them off and put them on again. But within a few days they are moved again. Not a major issue but a little niggle. The wood support for the seat is in the cushion cover and the cushion material has much friction with the wood and the cushion cover so its an annoying job (which to be honest, we save for special occasions!). The second thing is the depth - all their sofas and chairs are 90cm deep. We decided that they could be maybe 10cm less deep and fit way better in the narrowboat. That's more to do with the layout in our lounge and the walkthrough being in the middle of the room. If we hadn't added a foot rest and a cupboard to the opposite wall, this wouldn't be a problem either. Of course, if you aren't on a narrowboat, it doesn't matter either! On the flip side, I do like the depth for lounging. It gives you a bit more room for relaxing which is great. I hope thats helpful!
The Narrowboat Experience extremely useful thankyou so much for your in depth reply. We are liveaboards and at the moment we have 2x captains chairs but there no good for cuddling up to watch a movie. We only have a 50ft boat so our saloon is quite small. We have no dinette so the need for extra sleeping space is important to us. We bought our boat and moved aboard in oct last year and in no small way it was down to watching cc and yourselves. Among other lesser vloggers lol so a big thankyou for inspiring us to begin our adventure.
Question, wooden merchant tug boats and narrowboats ,thay are both similar in shape and size,l would like to know, With your collective knowledge,as well seasoned boaters ,can you tell me,wren did the narrowboat name originate from,,my Theory,it might be associated with the old tug canal boat, thay were pulled up and down the canal system, the true tug boat had no means of propelling it,did thay just changed the tug to narrowboat,,,or am I fundamentally wrong in assuming this,
As well as the water saving I have two reasons - I think I'm likely to break less if the washing up is just next to plastic. And what if I have already filled the sink with water and then I come across a cup with tea still in it? When I have a bowl, I can just pour the tea down the sink but when the sink is the bowl, I have to walk to the bathroom to pour it away. Oh and what if I happen to be cooking at the same time as washing up - do I drain my dirty vegetable water into my clean washing up water??
I'm sure you have heard that if a black cat walks in your path, you will have bad luck. But did you know that if a black cat walks in your path an even number of times, you will have good luck?
I came up with a similar suggestion swapping a big cat for a little one. They were nightmare beasts when they were kittens so we are quite glad they have grown up into medium sized beasties! ;-) I hope we don't accidentally pick up a few strays when we start cruising ;-)
Wow that slide cutter for cling film is great
You gals are so loveable. Hope my granddaughters grow up as sweet as you. Thanks for getting back to vids..
Thanks

Thanks. We are hoping to be back to weekly videos again from today. Not sure where January went!
5:26 "So it's an episode of lies" Ha! Had us in stitches up here in Canada. Thanks for the upload.
Just like all our vlogs ;-)
That was brilliant! I love the collapsible bowl! And thank you for introducing me to Sugru. It’s AH-MAZING! You should be sponsored by them the sales you’ve generated xx
Thanks Mandy. I love the bowl too.
Kath: I'm not spacesaving...What great Ladies you both are, indeed. Greets from Austria

Hi Kath and Anna, just discovered your channel I love your videos, just wanted to wish you both a belated Happy New Year to you both and your cats xxx
Hi there and welcome aboard. Happy belated new year to you too.
Great intro!! Alice and her meow! ❤
Glad to see your better!
Thanks
Just bought via your link the Wall mounted foil, cling film and kitchen roll dispenser, thnks for the tips.
Wow, thats great thanks. Hope you like it when it arrives.
It's hard to beat a personal recommendation, can you?
Got the Dyson at home and aboard, will try the dispenser for the cling film ect keep posting!
The Dyson is great isn't it. Thanks for commenting
Excellent ideas, I will certainly use some of those on our boat. I have a Dyson and couldn’t decide where to store it but as our kitchen is very similar to yours I’ll put it there.I also love my pans from last years video they were my birthday present last year.

Just saw your vid, and I know it will be a good day. We missed you...
Aw thats so sweet, thanks

Great minds indeed!

That magnet tip is great - I'd never thought of that. Off now to find some magnetic things to justify purchasing some magnetic strip. I love magnets!
Haha the cats opening the door...one out one in
:-) Yes, they seem to always want to be where the other is leaving
Ordered the dispenser already
Brilliant- let us know what you think of it.

I like that - the dawn of the storage revolution
Velcro is great you might find you can store things attached by velcro
Great video as always
Velcro is a great idea. I have a roll of the stuff just waiting to be used. Thanks for the tip.

LOL. It is really easy to come apart. Takes it off in 1 second, spends 20 minutes trying to put the cover back on! :)
the same thing happened just after filming when I realised the tin foil was empty... Luckily it lasts ages so I won't need to be taking it apart again for a while ;-p
Great video thanks again .
Fab video I move on to my first boat in a couple of weeks and this has given me lots of ideas 💡 although I need to google sugroo ( probably spelt wrong) now? Lol
Should have looked at links first 😂 Sugru
How exciting! Best of luck with the boat move. Lots of boaters use Sugru. I recommend starting with an 8 pack and keeping it in the fridge.
Thank you I’m really excited and scared half to death too lol 😂 I’m a single crew and disabled so it’s just plan plan plan at the moment.. I absolutely love your videos thank you guys 😊
very nice space savers.
Thanks Sam

Thats a great idea, or a mini robot for cleaning up coal dust that doesn't get blocked!
Hey kath two sugars in my tea thanks lol.
Sneaky bottle of baileys hiding there, is that your reward for hoovering :)
You got it - hoover, hoover, swig swig swig ;-)
I tried to to make aluminum paper but, my attempt at it was foiled.... Nice video and nice to see Munchy and Alice (and of course you ladies). I'm sure those plastic storage thingies that you used on the back seat of the car with pockets can help to save space on board a narrow boat if you can hang them behind a door.... :)
Hahaha.
Thanks for the tip on the hanging pockets. I've been tempted by them before.
How many of these storage things made it to the new boat?
Great video, the real question is do you need a bowl to wash the bowl in? regards Richard
Hmmmm ;-)
Leave Kath alone... she is the best... I believe everything she says....
Wondered where you had got to, you were missed! Oh yes, do you know where the dispenser came from and does it have a brand, I think one like that would be great in our smallish kitchen...

Great! I have passed it on to my better half!
Where did you get the dish drainer from. It's just what we need for our boat, as can't seem to find one small enough to fit our draining area. X
Hi Neil, it was a bit pricey but it has lasted well. After a quick clean I think it still looks as good as new after lots of use in the last 18 months.

Hi Brian, thanks for the tips on the draw. I will give the candle wax a go I think.
I see that Alice and Munchy are official members of the Counter Patrol; patrolling kitchen counters whenever they can.
Alice and Munchy got up from their day sleep especially to appear in the vlog! They knew that you would be pleased to see them.
Hi girls. Were currently looking at buying a Nubru sofa bed. We know youve had one for a while now and we were wondering how its bearing up?
Hi there, we don't have the sofa bed, just a sofa. It gets a fair amount of use and the cushions seemed to have stood up to the challenge. The cover material seems hard wearing too. Those space saver ideas work on a house also.
Yes, they do! Multi-purpose video ;-)
Question, wooden merchant tug boats and narrowboats ,thay are both similar in shape and size,l would like to know,

Theory,it might be associated with the old tug canal boat, thay were pulled up and down the canal system, the true tug boat had no means of propelling it,did thay just changed the tug to narrowboat,,,or am I fundamentally wrong in assuming this,
I love you both :)
Thanks Ian
you two are just to cute!! xoxo
Do you both have a narrow boat sort of crush on Mr C.C. ????
I counted two crossing cats in this episode; each going where the other had been.
They like to keep an eye on each other in case one finds something fun (naughty) to do.
I have never understood why anyone uses a washing up bowl when it does exactly the same job as the sink but more cramped. Bizarre.
Saves water volume to fill up. save money. Cheers
But you only need put the same amount of water in. And a lot of washing up bowls are almost the same size as the sink they're put into anyway.
Welllll, after several decades of bending over to reach the bottom of the sink I believe a reason will come to you.
Mischievous Ladies indeed.
Girls why don’t you get a knife magnet strip and put it onto your wooden blind cover above the sink and then you can rid of that knife block
I like the idea of that but I also have a fear of falling knives!
I'm sure you have heard that if a black cat walks in your path, you will have bad luck. But did you know that if a black cat walks in your path an even number of times, you will have good luck?
A black cat walks in my path lots and lots of times a day! I'm going to assume it always works out to be an even number of times ;-)
Space saving...easy...swap the cats for kittens! :) Obviously you'll have to do this on an annual or bi-annual basis, but every little helps :)
I came up with a similar suggestion swapping a big cat for a little one. They were nightmare beasts when they were kittens so we are quite glad they have grown up into medium sized beasties! ;-) I hope we don't accidentally pick up a few strays when we start cruising ;-)
We have four cats...you can't turn away a stray in need can you!? :)
