Thanks Jayne! Yes old dogs are very special beings indeed! We love their white faces and socks and their calmer temperaments (Tilly used to be very challenging towards strangers - she’d always give a long, low growl, now she’s much more chilled with people who want to fuss her)! Carol’s aunt in Indiana has an Australian Shepherd named Willow, who we love to pieces and she’s always up for a romp whenever we visit (the dog, not the aunt)! 😂. Best wishes ❤❤❤

Your boat is really homely & hippy with the colours & patterns, very nice. Speaking as an old hippy I see things I'd have myself if I found them somewhere. The curtains under my sink are an old Indian skirt, the mat's an Indian rag rug & yes I remember Captain Pugwash well. Tilly obviously trained you properly as you did the tour without disturbing her. Hi Julie! We’re so glad you enjoyed the video! Liberty is a 2004 boat. She’s insured for £50,000 now, but that’s still an inexpensive home, really. Lots of people are horrified when people paint over natural wood, while others really like the painted finish, which can really alter the whole mood of the boat. Of course in the end it’s really down to the owner and what they like. In our case the interior wood was ‘tired’ looking and the grain in the panels wasn’t very exciting, so it was an easy decision for us. We really hope you’ll enjoy cruising in your new boat - you never know, maybe you’ll sell the house and become nomads like us! Thanks Pam! Liberty was built in 2004 by ex-Liverpool Boats builder James White (or John White - we always get confused 😂). She was an owner fit-out, but he’d done a decent enough job. Great work, your boat looks lovely. I bought an 'oven ready' boat, a 60 ft liverpool that has served me really well these past 3 years. It has like yours had, wood veneer throughout which Im leaving as I love wood texture, but I will be stealing some of your great ideas ;D Congratulations and good luck with your excellent life style choice, I will look out for you on my travels. Thanks David - we might have gone a different direction if our wood had looked better, but we had a choice a) to try to make the wood look better, b) to replace the wood or c) to refinish it in paint. We didn't have the confidence in our skills to do b), we didn't think a) was worth the effort or expense, so we chose paint. Liberty was made by ex-Liverpool boat builder James White, but had been fitted out by her original owner. We've seen fabulous fit-outs to sailaways, but in general we see the best jobs when the boat builders manage the fit-out. Maybe our next boat will have great wood and we'd never cover up great wood! Hi Paul, thank you for your comment! We bought Liberty in March 2021 and began working and living on her soon after that. Apart from a short 2-week break June/July 2021 and while she was being painted and the signwriting done the month of August 2021, we worked on her much of the time. Rob works full-time from Liberty, so he worked on her around his schedule. We began continuous cruising the 27th of May, 2022 (right when the Lancaster Canal Disaster happened - see video). Hi, thanks for your comment. Carol gets a lot of her ideas and inspiration from the internet, other boaters, and home decorating magazines. She then finds ways to make them work on Liberty. Thanks Pam! Liberty was built in 2004 by ex-Liverpool Boats builder James White (or John White - we always get confused 😂). She was an owner fit-out, but he’d done a decent enough job. A great walkthrough of a great boat, which I have had the privilege of seeing first hand. I'm glad that Tilly made an appearance at the end, otherwise you would have had a mutiny on your hands! 😂 Have a great Xmas and we'll hopefully catch up in the New Year sometime, Chris.

She wants to rename the boat after her and to supervise all of our comment responses (which she is doing over my shoulder as I write). Great work, your boat looks lovely. I bought an 'oven ready' boat, a 60 ft liverpool that has served me really well these past 3 years. It has like yours had, wood veneer throughout which Im leaving as I love wood texture, but I will be stealing some of your great ideas ;D

Thanks David - we might have gone a different direction if our wood had looked better, but we had a choice a) to try to make the wood look better, b) to replace the wood or c) to refinish it in paint. We didn't have the confidence in our skills to do b), we didn't think a) was worth the effort or expense, so we chose paint. Liberty was made by ex-Liverpool boat builder James White, but had been fitted out by her original owner. We've seen fabulous fit-outs to sailaways, but in general we see the best jobs when the boat builders manage the fit-out. Maybe our next boat will have great wood and we'd never cover up great wood! Hi Paul, thank you for your comment! We bought Liberty in March 2021 and began working and living on her soon after that. Apart from a short 2-week break June/July 2021 and while she was being painted and the signwriting done the month of August 2021, we worked on her much of the time. Rob works full-time from Liberty, so he worked on her around his schedule. We began continuous cruising the 27th of May, 2022 (right when the Lancaster Canal Disaster happened - see video).
