I'm not 100%. The effect you need though is Resonator in the H9 effects section. It's at the bottom in the iOS app. Then you can just copy the settings in this video.
@@EddieClark I kNo it’s 9v but what chain are u using to connect every pedal because I have a 9v daisy chain but I have to connect the h9 separately because the port wont fit
I have a few 12/18v pedals on my board. To cover them all, I have 3 power supplies under my board. I use a OneSpot Pro and two Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+ supplies.
dude, randomly came across this video - don't ask me how - but i'm so freaking grateful cause that sound is AMAZING. It gives me chills. Siamese was such a vital piece of my youth that I can't even explain how important it is. i've played the sound part like 40x now and it put me in such a great mood. so thank you!
So beautiful man, what an amazing song soma is, the kind of song that stands on a league of its own. I just keep trying imagine how Billy managed to come up with that in 1991-1992, it’s just so ahead of his time. Even today, 20 years plus later it still holds its freshness and a magical sound to it. Just amazing, man, what a great work of yours. Wish we were writing some songs together with that Siamese sound, we could make our own B-sides of such an amazing record!
Love that this is a just basically a channel about one album and that's probably because I bought this album age 14, on cassette after reading about it in NME and then my second-ever gig was Smashing Pumpkins on the tour as this record exploded. I still have the tablature book on my shelf but boy were these sounds hard to emulate in my bedroom ! love it - keep going.
The Electro Harmonix Grand Canyon has a similar effect, called Pitch. Will play with mine to see if I can get that sound. I was actually using the MOD setting in the Electro Harmonix Oceans 11 and it sounded great, but well, yours is 100% accurate. Thanks Eddie.
Those are both great pedals. Modulated delays can fill the gap pretty well in a pinch. Before I picked up the H9, I used to just use an MXR Carbon Copy with the modulation on. Thanks for watching!
I always appreciate the breakdown of the Pumpkins songs you do. Great job. Been a fan since I was a kid. Surprisingly it was Mellon Collie first then Siamese Dream for me. I didn't have a chance to hear Siamese Dream until later. I believe the Pumpkins did shoegazing done right. It wasn't over the top to where it sounded like radio wave frequency. Yes, there are other RUclipsrs doing videos on Pumpkins, but your video breakdown important parts on Siamese Dream you can actually find or explain. You play a major part on separating your videos on not just the equipment , but how to set the tone and what other equipment to use incase you are broke lol
SOLD! I wasn't sure what I needed to buy next, but now I do! I'v been acquiring pedals for a Siamese Dream / Billy Corgan pedalboard, and so far I have: EHX Micro Synth, EHX Big Muff OpAmp reissue, EHX Deluxe Big Muff (probably going to replace with MBM IC 78 with mids and a V4/V5 toggle), Boss LS-2 (for parallel Muffs), VooDoo Lab Superfuzz (modded Boss Tone circuit that I learned about from your other video, thank you very much!) MXR phase 100, MBM Dist2 (on its way), Boss PH-3, Boss NS-2, and a Fender Blender reissue. I'll probably order an H9 tonight and eventually I'll want a Boss DC-2W. I don't have a Deco, but I do have the TC Electronic Mimiq Doubler that I run in stereo. I have a friend who has a Deco that I'll have to borrow. Thank you for your videos. Do you have an instagram? I can send you a picture of the pedalboard when it's done.
Killer job, you got closer than I've heard anybody get! I've found you can get pretty close using the Eventide H3000 Band Delays MK2 plugin. There's a preset called Band Pan that does the bubbly thing. You can also select the 4 delayed notes + another 4 notes if you wanted. It's a fun plugin for sure.
Omg thank you so much! I've been working thru using the Guitars in Space preset and working thru it as close as I could. Now I'm definitely going to try this!
Man, trying to create this sound back in the day when I was learning guitar. My dream was to create this sound. I would have killed for this information. Thank you
Damn dude gotta give credit to your hard work, I’ve been chasing for this sound for so long and you always nail the classic pumpkins tone! Thank you for sharing this! Soma cover anytime soon? 😮
Thanks! It's a sound I wanted for years. Soma was the second song that I covered when I started playing regularly again. Soma ruclips.net/video/cf8n7CDpE5M/видео.html
Hi Eddie. Thanks for making these great how-to vids! Your 4th-position tone from your Strat sounds fantastic. Is your Lace Sensor Strat using 250k pots and regular wiring and cap values, or do you have anything different going on to get that sound? I've always gotten a very muddy sound from the 4th and 5th pickup-selector positions when using a Blue Lace Sensor in the neck.
I'm just using standard values. I use Fender 250k pots, the .022 uF cap that comes with them and cloth covered wire. I don't like them through all amps. Through a clean JCM 800 or Origin series they sound great though. One suggestion I can give is don't put them too close to the strings. If they're too close, the mud gets deeeeeeep. Glad to make them and thanks for watching!
Sorry I am late to the party, but this is a great tone shaping channel! I’d love to hear your approach to some Gish tones as well, specifically Rhinoceros and Window Paine, am I the only one that hears Rotary/Leslie tones? I keep reading it’s Chorus and electric mistress flanging but that seems simplistic and limiting😂
Nah you're not late 👍 Thank you very much. I'm planning on approaching Gish and MCIS finally when I get back from Asia this spring. I'm hoping to find so of the pieces of gear when passing through Japan in May. As for Billy chorus and flange sounds, I feel that a lot of it is done using tape flanging. This was the sound used for the Cherub Rock solo and it can sound very different based just on how much finger pressure is used on the tape reel. I'll ultimately form a theory on the subject when I begin try to clone the sounds. Thanks for watching!
The H90 appears to have all the same options as the H9 so I'm assuming it does though I won't be able to say for sure until I buy one. The amazing thing is though, it should be able to do the band filter delay sound and add the chorus at the same time.
You should do a video on the hummer clean sound . Is it just a combination of tape delay, tape saturation and chorus using the neck pick up of the lace or is there more to it.
You really nailed it ! Do you think it’s possible to approach this effect with a Kemper ? Some delays (quad delay) have 4 « voices » where you can set the 4 delay pitches instead of the notes of the H9. It’s also possible to define the intervals between the voices (note value). I don’t know if it’s the same mechanism…
Thank you! I don't have much experience with the Kemper but I imagine it has the ability to get close. The pitch choices are actually the harmonics and not the notes them selves. The primary notes still get repeated when a note is played. Hope that helps.
Once the band kicks in after that spacious lush sounding intro and the clean guitar tone becomes a little drier, I hear that on that particular tone uses a Boss Slow Gear
What settings do you use for the Hummer delay, and the Drown outtro delay? Also, have you ever gone over all of the effects that were used for the Starla solo? I think I’ve talked to you before about the Reverse Delays on the H9 for the opening to Starla? You should definitely make a tutorial on that as well. I’m not good at explaining things clearly, so I’ve chickened out on demonstrating the effects of the early Pumpkins Gear on RUclips, even though I’ve invested $1000’s of dollars in vintage gear to do just that. 😜
I'll have to do a deep dive to get the Starla solo sound nailed. Sound like a good project. Hummer has a pretty standard delay sound AFAIK but I'll have a closer listen to it today. I used an MXR Carbon Copy for the delay sound in my Hummer cover.
I love TTEOR. It's in my top 5 Pumpkins songs of all time. The verses don't have any delay though. The sound you're hearing in TTEOR is a heavy phaser sound on the left channel with a drier signal on the right. That said, that part would sound pretty great with a band filter delay sound 👍👍
I haven't yet. I have seen a video on RUclips where someone did just that though. I'll try and find it. Edit: here it is ruclips.net/video/t7xNhmJJNF4/видео.html It's a short video but the setting are on screen.
Glad you’re figuring it out 🤣 You can always grab the affordable alternatives for this sound. A Boss Tera Echo and a mild chorus sound will get you very close.
Does Every h9 have splunking?

We need more covers! Maybe some stuff from Mellon Collie? Btw your channel has been very beneficial if helping me achieve that Siamese dream sound
I usually get pretty slow over the summer. Now that fall is hitting, expect a cover or two soon.
