The more the new calf drinks Hope's milk the more he will smell like her. Their odor is determined by the mother's milk. He is smelling more like Hope and Henry! Hope can smell what you can't. It's one of the ways a cow can tell which is her calf. It's the same with most mammals.

Absolutely love watching you two!! This very moment my family and I are in the Arkansas Osarks hunting for our very own homestead. We are leaving Goodyear AZ, the fastest growing city in America (west of Phoenix) ... we grew up there and The population/city growth is nothing like we have ever seen. People are fleeing California and the eastern states. My husband and I call this “the great migration”. We are migrating too, I was born in Yellville Arkansas and my parents left the area because there wasn’t work opportunity... the sold their 40 acres 😭 and moved west. Well 40 years later I am officially getting back to my roots!

Sometimes a heifer won’t take to a calf until that calf gets her smell on him. We usually took a blanket that we rubbed on the heifer and then rubbed that on the calf. The next day or the day after doing that the heifer seemed to take to the calf faster than when we just let the calf in the meadow with her. Might be something to try next time.

As soon as I saw sweet Hope licking the new baby, I said "all is well now"! No more worries because that's her way of letting it know she's mama and is going to take good care of it. I nearly cried when I saw her licking him. She's a good mama! Enjoyed seeing your other animals and going on an "Easter egg hunt" with you. That's so funny they do that instead of laying in their nesting box. I'd love to find someone near me that sold fresh eggs.

I’d out a fake egg in each of the nests and the hidden ones, it means they will continue to lay there and not find a new place

You have got to love the chickens MILK BEARD. more like a GOATEE
On that larger egg. I once saw one that size with my chickens some years ago. I never thought about it till about a year later when one of the chickens laid another one the same size.
When we went to cook the eggs they was no yolk.
About a year later I was out on the property doing some late night work and I saw a really bright light come out of the coop. I did not hear anything.
I did not think about it too much and I went on and finished my chores.
The next morning my mom told my brother to go collet the eggs. When he came back he had a large egg just like the last 2 years.
I asked my mom if we could try to hatch it. My mom was like OK but there has never been a yolk but you can try. So I tried.
About 3 weeks later I got home from school and all my brothers and my parents were gone and the only think on the property besides the animals was this 25 foot chicken. He looked at me and said "Thank you for hatching me and sorry for your family but I was hungry" and he flew away never to be seen again.
Sorry I have to go now the nurse is calling my name. It is time for my meds.

Very funny. The first book I ever read was called "the enormous egg" a chicken laid the egg, but a tricertops hatched out of it. You'll have to read the book to find out what happened. lol 🤪🤣
      I don't want to tell you that I'm 63.

I had to vote Hudson. Every one of the other 3 are names of one of my Dad's siblings, or their offspring. Really. I was hoping Horace was on the lineup. He was one of the nicest giants I ever knew. May he RIP. Thanks for the fun videos. BTW, how many miles are you from Marceline MO?

Good day on the home- Farmstead, with animals. Maybe a larger duck egg. Would you be able to tell us, may you have apple trees and what type of trees on your property any apples growing??? I grew up on a grandparents hobby farm in the 1970's🇨🇦.👩‍🌾 it's so good to hear you both together 🤠 talk about the jobs hub-grub, tasks to detail in description for clarity in each area of the homestead. Love you two, really enjoy your vlogs, it was lovely looking around your homestead. Since watch your vlogs I’ve canned jars of Tomatoes sauce which I learned from you, I’ve made chutney, mint sauce, cucumber pickle, apple sauce, all from my own garden. And my freeze is full to the brim with homemade apple pies, crumble, since watch your vlogs I’ve thrown nothing away and save a fortune too. Xxx Lincolnshire UK
