Thank you for discussing this subject. I feel like I’m not alone with this burden of guilt for not enjoying things others do easily and normally. While I’m better now, I definitely think about the past and how lonely that felt that no one understood how much I didn’t want to be asked to do anything or go anywhere.
@@alaina2768I did eventually have to get onto Zoloft and once that really kicked in (in takes a couple weeks) I started to feel better. I started to say yes to more things even if they were still out of my comfort zone. In all honesty, I do still get very anxious before big events or travel, but I can get thru it now and even enjoy myself. I also did a lot of “exposure therapy”. Even when it wasn’t easiest - for example I’m a very nervous flyer. Since I can’t just get on a plane anytime, I would youtube flight attendant vlogs - ppl who made being on planes a career, for hours each day, and no big deal would make me feel better. If you’re afraid to leave home/drive, just time a drive for 5 min. Then 10min. Everyday prove to yourself you can do it and eventually your mind WILL catch up. It’s hard and I’m not at 100%. But you CAN do it.
Thank you Lauren, your experiences have clearly made you a very wonderful person. I really can hear so much growth and wisdom in your words, clearly brought about by the resilience you developed in overcoming this thing, and I think looking from that perspective you didn't waste a moment..
@LaurenRose. Another hard one. They are very exhausting. I did good, though, Lauren! I stayed in the anxiety and moved through it. It kept coming in waves, and I didn't give up. I just want to say (for anyone else that may be reading this) that I have driving anxiety, not agoraphobia, but all of your content helps with that. I feel anxiety just starts to manifest in other areas when we don't take care of it. Today, I felt it mainly in a big store, and not as much during my drive.
