I'm 65 years young and what bugged me the most back in the sixties are when combat turn colored 👎 next is when Gun Smoke was taken off the radio . Sad times , old days more better -
It took ABC the final season to carry Combat in color. Good way to polish it off. Guys like Doc are needed in any kind of warfare. Patch em up and get em back to life!
Of course! That usually signifies that some action is about to take place between our boys and the Germans! Loved this series! It was one of a kind next to The Rat Patrol.
Ccsra5, here’s just for you. Sarge: “…their unloading the truck ... we’ll wait till their finished… see if it pulls out … if it does that’s 8 maybe 10 men and the machine gun that’s left.” Kirby: “Oh, is that all.”
It looks to me like the Rolex GMT master, one of the sport/professional models that's all stainless steel with no diamonds. It's similar to the Rolex Explorer II black-face that I wear. It's a heavy, substantial watch that feels really good on the wrist and should, in my opinion, be worn loosely.
I may be wrong but it looks like they use the same map in all the episodes. Looks like a standard Army 1:50,000 topographic, bt I'm not sure that scale was used in WWII.
What made Combat great besides the actors was the music . They knew what type of music to play for each scene . Sometimes music can make or break a series or movie for that matter .
The alert German soldier had shot the enemy at 11:13, but that bastard didn't die? Then how did the enemy's bullet hit him when he's behind the sandbag?
3:49 - there's that big ID bracelet on Saunders again. Wasn't there an earlier episode where someone's (Saunders'??) kid brother in the Pacific was MIA or KIA and he was a mess until he got informed he was OK.
The “Letter” is one of my favorite “Combat Show” I also like “The Little Carosel” “Encounter” “High Name Today” “The Ringer” and a few more - But I am little puzzled - The Show has been on for all those years and No one in the show was never promoted. The regular cast stayed the same rank all those years - that shouldn’t be - but it’s still one of my TV shows that I never get tired of watching - the cast worked well together. - Good Show
Parson's jacket. The enlisted wore them. Officers wore the longer jacket that Rick Jason wears, although sometimes he is in a tanker jacket.

No your feelings, When newspapers started to sport colour pictures it looked very ordinary to me

Every time you hear sinister music you know the Germans are near by 👀😩🔫

Hummel is played by Randy Boone who also played in the short lived series "It's a man's world" with Glenn Corbett.
Hummel also played in the western series The Virginian
MRDou44 yep Randy Benton.
Kirby, and his feet!!!!!!!!
What Sarge is doing is dangerous. He could be damaging Hummel's self esteem and that could get him in more trouble.
Oh Brother, As soon as he gets experience he would understand
Oh, please. You call in the position and let the Air Force take over.

Purple Heart with special platinum oak leaf clusters for sarge :)
I just noticed that Saunders' watch band looks just like the one on my ca. 2010 Seiko. I guess the classics always stay in style.
Weren't they called Eisenhower jackets back then? I got a deck jacket like that, but its black.

If only I were this German soldier, I'll aim more accurately and hide more carefully.
Just checked - usually 1:100,000 pretty small scale for squad operations. We thought 1:50,000 was too small and tried to get 1:25,000

Gott in himmel! Even more soldaten with flat MP40 magazine pouches but carrying Kar 98's.... And the GI's have flat ammo pouches---empty also?
Somebody identified it as a Rolex GMT (60s vintage).
German soldiers hit 2 Americans at 11:40 and 15:15, but neither of the 2 died?! What a pity.
Yeah! Our bros are in urgent need to turn the situation, wish I was one of them
Where is 4/4?
It is funny for Saunders to order the replacement not even shoot who looks like his younger brother so much.

+MemphoOnTheMississippi You are correct. His brother is in the Marines. That is how Saunders got his Marine helmet camo...from his bro.
+Bob Williams Saunders had two or three kid brothers and a kid sister (Louise) who's the youngest.
Thanks for that. I always wondered why he had the marine cammo on his helmet.
the episode before this "Combat! S05E07 - The Letter 2/4 i wrote a comment and i spelt it like this 'humble'
