I never watched this as a kid but I did watch this religiously when it aired on STARZ/Encore in 2003-2004 right up until I left for basic training. I ended up buying the DVD sets while I was in the Army since I couldn't find any network that are the show while I was enlisted. Thanks for the uploads! I actually like this season best out of all of them.
Well, maybe, the color episodes had less impact but the acting, dialogue and topic matter remained top notch. "Combat!" remained superlative until its last season! The best WWII TV series ever!
Can you imagine the difficulty the young German solder, their leader he said, had when his comrades surrendered in the farmhouse and he was all alone. As Sgt. Saunders said,k Why die for a lost cause. They were surrounded and cut off and no other troops were coming to help them.
At 00:44 where stuntman Earl Parker does his death backflip down the hill, he sure looks like Saunders. You can see why he made such a good stunt double for him.
To be honest, if only I were a German soldier, I absolutely hate this dangerous bastard and try my best to kill him, he often fires at us from unexpected places and shoots us accurately

There was mention of Sarge's brother MIA in the Pacific in one of the earlier seasons (Episode "Mailcall", if I remember right). I thought he has only one bro and a sis.
Even with the Army advisors they still had some dumb scenarios in some episodes. I guess you need to do it every now and then to tell a story. There is no way in ANY universe that they would send a squad of 5 men to take out a supply dump. It would never have happened in WW2. There would have been 20-30 soldiers guarding even a small supply dump or ammo dump. But they still needed to tell the story. It wasn't that often they screwed up this badly though.
They don't go up and check out the other unit that was engaging the Germans as they arrived? One or more of them could have still been alive. Instead, Sarge sends Kirby to get the jeep so they can leave.
Kaz Fleszar in world war 2 games I always hated playing as the British soldiers because they wore those damn shorts lol. They looked like soldier postmen 😂

These combat episodes issued in 1/4 segments suck! Half the time, bits and pieces are missing and sometimes it doesn't even lead into the next episode and you have to look for it. Get real

Some families do have more than one brother or one sister. Saunders did say this was his kid brother.

I wonder if anyone kept a total number of Krauts Saunders killed in all the episodes. I'd guess 300. And the times he got wounded, I'd guess 15.

They did have color photos back then...my father was in Normandy, and had 1 or 2 color pix....rare, but they had 'em.
