- Hey guys! I've gotten a lot of questions recently about where to begin when you're just starting out with perfumes. So I've compiled a list of beginner friendly fragrances that are crowd pleasing and likeable. Whether you're starting your perfume collection, or on the hunt for a signature scent, I have a bunch of different categories of perfume to go over, so I'm sure I can find something for you! I have a confession, I do not like vanilla :( It's because the first perfume I ever owned was basically pure sweet vanilla and I choked my 7th grade self out with it on the daily until I couldn't even look at it anymore. There is a lesson there, but I didn't learn it and now I can't drink raspberry vodka for the rest of my life. Whoops. I always watch your videos for info on musks and woody notes :)

Based on your raccomandations i got a miniature for Idole Aura and i bought second hand My Guerlain (in Europe we have Vintade, it's very easy to find miniature or open bottles so basically it's like sampling).
I both adore them. Mon Guerlain is so crisp, comfy, reassuring and Aura...Well to me is classy sexy. It is bright and happy yes but the salty note makes it soooooooo sexy, like you are just out from the Sea. I think I will buy a set for Aura. Now I am waiting for my miniature of Chloe Nomade Absolu. Cloud 2.0 and any type of baccarat rouge type perfume reminds me of the jurassic park ride at universal studios. Something about them reminds me of the misty damp smell on that ride 😆

You have so many good suggestions. I’m craving woody notes right now. Also, having fun planning for lighter, crisp Spring/Summer fragrances. Nomade Absolu 🌲 and Coconut Fizz ☀️seem ideal for coastal Southern California. Do you pick up a prominent musk note in Nomade Absolu?

I like it too but I do think it smells like a guave tropical hair mask from the hairdressers. Which smells really good but yeah, hairmasky.
I thought I was an anomaly but vanilla is cute to me only when it’s combined with other scents.
I've noticed that you never seem to mention the Libre range. Are you not a fan of the scent?
I bought the Coconut Fizz based on one of your previous videos. I have to say that I smell no coconut at all, just florals, even if I spray into the air or on a fragrance strip. Did I get a bad bottle? I purchased from Sephora so I am tempted to return. It is all floral and kind of warm I guess.
seriously?? I don't get that at allll. It's like 90% coconut water to me and the rest of the notes are supporting IMO. Since you got it from Sephora it should be legit, but that really surprises me, I suppose it's possible they could have accidentally sold a bad bottle. On Fragrantica as well coconut is voted the main note, but we all have different noses and pick up different things! I'm sorry you had a different experience :(!
@@AnneLauren I am going to exchange it and hope for the best. I love coconut in all forms as well as citrus so I still have hope. I will let you know how that goes. I have absolutely loved everything that I have tried that you have mentioned (one exception Delina - too much rose on me but I want to love it). Mon Guerlain OG and Kayali Vanilla 28 have been my everyday fragrances for a few years, and all niche recommendations that I have tried since finding your channel has been AMAZING! Bond Greenwich Village is fantastic and my new fave!

Guerlain will be discontinuing these fragrances due to the fact that there’s a new regulation stating any fragrances that have lily of The Valley or moss in it will have to be stopped being produced because of other people might be allergic to it lol 😆

I really want to try Guerlain fragrances but can’t find anywhere with reasonable samples. Any suggestions? Are there any US retailers that carry them in stores?
I purchase my samples from the sites listed in the description box! I'm not sure if Ulta or Sephora have them in store to test 🤔
I got some aqua allegoria samples recently from a website called the perfumed court and had good luck with them! Macy's and sephora carry them but I don't think they're in stores :(

Okay, I haven't finished the video yet but I've gotta jump in here. Since your channel was originally a makeup channel I'm wondering if you're familiar with Samantha ravndahl at all? Bc its an ongoing issue (curse) that her favorite/holy grail makeup products get discontinued and I'm sensing a similar pattern happening here with you. I mean, I HOPE I'm wrong, but... gourmand coquin, angel muse, coconut fizz, nirvana bourbon, fashionably London probably will be (bc zara does us dirty like that, I'm surprised Ebony wood is still available). So idk, if you're bringing the discontinued curse over to the fragrance world maybe you need to take one for the team and have worse taste so the good ones can still be available for the rest of us 🙃😉😝 also, sorry for your loss. I'm not sure if I want to buy it while it's still available or spare myself the grief of falling in love with it knowing I won't be able to get it again...
YES oh my gosh I adore her!! I feel like I have definitely contracted the curse 😭 whenever I hear that something is getting discontinued I feel the need to try it while I can still get it, FOMO 😅. Speaking of discontinued scents, I fell in LOVE with HOS Whispers of Truth .. looked it up on their website, and it says it’s limited edition 💔 Would you happen to know if it’s truly limited edition or if it’s just the current bottle style that’s limited?
@@AnneLauren ahh, no, I'm so sorry! I don't know for sure the status of whipers of truth. I was under the impression the fragrance itself was a staple and that they come out with extra fancy cupcake designs that are limited edition, and then there are flankers that are limited edition (like the noir version). I will do some research and see if I can find any answers!
