@mempey I've done a single vxl summit. Didn't overheat... but it was 20 degrees out. You can see it in my videos. I don't know how long the motors will last that way. This year I'm going to double up on it. Thanks for showing us how!
Thanks man, It does run pretty well, fast. It will probably be a while on a running video. I have a ton of stuff going on. I am going to have to lay off of videos for a while. :(
It would work just fine in an E-Revo. I would do it to mine but I have the Mamba Monster in it. The process would be exactly the same since it is the same chassis.
Yeah, the VXL is a safer option since I fried a Mamba ESC that I had waterproofed. Not sure of the run times, like you said, it depends on how you drive.
Great video!! How does it do for slow rock crawling? Does it cog or surge at low speeds? I think u already touched on this, but do u think a single vxl 3500 system could power a summit? If u were to try what gearing would u use to prevent overheating? What battery setup would u use for a single setup? Thanks in advance for any questions u can answer!
I usually take the battery out and hit it with a garden hose. If I am going to do a real good cleaning, I spend an afternoon taking apart everything that has moving parts and cleaning them out real good. I try to pay special attention to the bearings. UltimateRCNetwork has a great tutorial on how to clean bearings. I always hit the moving parts with WD40 after any water gets on it.
Jetlag222, I just bought brushed EREVO and on the 6th run a motor (revers) blew. I am left to decide what to do. Your build sound great. My question: will 2 Venelion brushless motors work with the new EVX-2 (ESC) wich is designed for 2 550Titan motors?? Thanks in advance..
Awesome video, but I think it's the wrong part # on the pinion gears. Should it not be #TRX 3949 in 32pitch 19T pinion gear ? The #TRX 2419 is in 48pitch. The SUMMIT'S original pitch on the spur is 32pitch.
How well do you think this stop would work inan erevo? Blewmy brushed motors again but need the waterproofing. U think id need any additional parts or should it fit as is.
@mrharleyman09 Neither of us have had any problem whatsoever. I really disagree with what you have heard. The motor is designed to go either way, it does not matter what direction, the motor does not know the difference.
Have you had any reliability issues with this conversion? I am looking at doing the same thing with an E-Maxx, although Traxxas tech support does not recommend it due to 'syncing' issues with the dual ESCs.
i was wondering if you have a problem with it cogging like unsensored brushless motors do, because i do alot of low speed crawling and i was just curious
I'm a bit of a noob to RCing n general, im running a stock eRevo VXL with the only upgrade being RPM A-Arms, springs and Shock oil. What is the benefit of running twin engines and ESC's?
you said the part numbers are from tower hobbies, correct? i tried looking them up at the website but had no luck. did they discontinue the parts? or was i even searching the right place?
@crackpot261 Really the only reason why I put the Twin VXL setup in there is because it is waterproof. I think the Mamba is a bit faster but the Summit was born to get wet.
im getting ready to install v twin's like yours in my e maxx 3905. With the wide ratio two speed, what gearing do you think I should try in it? Gonna use 4s and run in dirt and grass.
It is the same as just doing one. I have done it so many times that I just do it by feel. But I would just put a piece of paper between the spur and pinion like usual. Just search youtube for how to set rc gear mesh.
I waterproofed the mamba esc but it still got ruined. I went with the 2 vxl setup since it is waterproof from the factory. I wish Castle made a waterproof Mamba system. i would rather have that.
Mempey, why did you switch to VXL ? Was the mamba not waer proof ? JK Seriously, can you still put the ESC in training mode and if so, do you have to do it to both ESC's. What is your approximate run time with the 2s batteries, i know it varies with how you drive. I am new to the lipo end of the hobbie.
@20214415 It does cog but it really isn't the best rock crawler anyway. I would be a little afraid of just using one vxl. I think that the gearing change would make it a little better as far as running temp but the Summit is an awfully big truck for such a little motor. I have a single vxl in my E-Maxx and it gets pretty warm.
It wont make a difference adding another esc if you have brushed motors. You have to do that if you have 2 brushless motors. A mamba is crazy fast but not waterproof. That's why I put 2 Velinions in it.
I'm trying to watch this, but it just keeps freezing up. I have a good Internet connection, and I let it load for min. Anybody else having this problem?
excellent job, Now go outside and get to bashing. I have been chained to this desk too long and need to see some insane HQ bashing! Please and thank you

I use Simple Green most of the time, but I also don't get them that dirty very often. When I do, I hose them off immediately after running.
@mempey I totally understand. Just don't let the dust get too thick. Mine have been mocking me for the past year, but like you, I am a little to busy.
Great video. I've been looking for this for a while. I can't wait till part 2 is up. Please post it asap, so I can get this combo!
Cheers
Nice I run a twin vxl in an emaxx with proline trenchers and 3s lipos it is BOSS love it nice truck dude
It is a good setup for the E-Maxx, the song is Robb Zombie-Demon Speeding
It's a little tricky, but the will fit. The Mashers perform VERY well.
Thanks man, It does run pretty well, fast. It will probably be a while on a running video. I have a ton of stuff going on. I am going to have to lay off of videos for a while. :(

Good Work! Cant wait till part 2 is uploaded!

Cool, but with the erevo motor mount do you still have 2-speed or does the mount bolt onto the stock mount?
FYI for everyone. Easy off oven spray removes the Chrome plating on plastic wheels. Spray and give it about 15 min then wipe off.
Jetlag222,

It takes them twice as long to ship to me, so I mainly use Tower.

@mrharleyman09 Neither of us have had any problem whatsoever. I really disagree with what you have heard. The motor is designed to go either way, it does not matter what direction, the motor does not know the difference.
can you hook an esc into channel 2 and another one into channel 3 for example
No, they have to be on one channel.
mempey damit not what i wanted to here oh well i guess i can still do what i need to for the mod one 1 channel lol
Have you had any reliability issues with this conversion? I am looking at doing the same thing with an E-Maxx, although Traxxas tech support does not recommend it due to 'syncing' issues with the dual ESCs.
Thanks, probably gonna be a while on the running vid, I have a lot going on right now, RC has to take a break for a while.
It does cogg a little but it isn't a big deal to me. If I want to do some serious crawling, I just get one of my Axials out and run it.
So, you went from the Mamba to the twin VXL. Did your waterproofing on the mamba fail? Or do you have more than one Summit?
i was wondering if you have a problem with it cogging like unsensored brushless motors do, because i do alot of low speed crawling and i was just curious
I'm a bit of a noob to RCing n general, im running a stock eRevo VXL with the only upgrade being RPM A-Arms, springs and Shock oil.

Can u use 1 motor and esc in this? Or is it to heavy for that small of a motor
you said the part numbers are from tower hobbies, correct? i tried looking them up at the website but had no luck. did they discontinue the parts? or was i even searching the right place?
THATS SICK also thx for answering one of the questions that i had.
are you running 1/16 version, which has only one motor? The 1/10 version has 2 brushed 550Titans motors or 1 mamba monster for Brushless.
You might try 19 tooth pinions and whatever the stock spur is.
Ahhhhhhh Mempey.... Where is part two Bro. I wanna make my Summit brushless and I am open to two VXL verses Tekin RX8 but I gotta see it run.
@crackpot261 Really the only reason why I put the Twin VXL setup in there is because it is waterproof. I think the Mamba is a bit faster but the Summit was born to get wet.
Yes the waterproofing failed and I ruined the Castle Esc. I went with the VXL since it is waterproof, it runs great.
thanks for this and the color of the body and wheels is bad ass.
hi mempey i was wondering your summit has the mamba monster that was waterproof why do you change it to this one? is it better?
im getting ready to install v twin's like yours in my e maxx 3905. With the wide ratio two speed, what gearing do you think I should try in it? Gonna use 4s and run in dirt and grass.

@mempey i mean is it better to have two vxls on the summit or a mamba monster
Mempey,
why did you switch to VXL ? Was the mamba not waer proof ? JK
Seriously, can you still put the ESC in training mode and if so, do you have to do it to both ESC's.
What is your approximate run time with the 2s batteries, i know it varies with how you drive. I am new to the lipo end of the hobbie.
Wait. With the vxl-3s twin systems shouldnt you be able to run 6s lipo= 3s for each esc/motor
with my slash 4x4, i reverse the white and yellow, and leave the blue alone.... is there any real difference?
I got an EMaxx comming in a few days and I was wondering if you think this would be a good setup for it? also what is the song called? thanks
do it have 2 gears or only one because of the twin vxl?
Can this setup be done to a Stampede 4x4 VXL with the same part numbers?
I might do one eventually, but trust me, it's quick.
If you put one to 50/100 will the other one change???
I'm working on it, might be a while though. Pretty busy lately.
Right now I don't have plans to do a running video. I know I said I was going to but I am just way to busy right now to do it.
Oops, sue me, I didn't script anything I said, that was only the 3rd take and I was getting over it. lol
Thanks, and yes those are Drone canopies.
Do you have any problem with the esc button getting stuck
do you need the proline mashers?
@mempey can you just put a single vxl in that?
i cant search for the parts on tower hobbies. nothing is showing up
since u pai almost $350.00 for both motors plus parts y not buy the momba 2200kv it's better right ?
i cant get my pinnion gears to mesh up with my spur gear any suggestions
As far as two VXL setup's, yes you can.
@cdog2508 The Mamba ESC isn't waterproof.
I have not had any issues, neither has Jetlag2222.
how do you correctly clean your summit?
dude you are so badass thank you for makeing this video .
@solobender Yes, why wouldn't it.
@mempey thats what I do, Thank you
I will do a running video in a while, I am super busy these days. Patience.
When's part 2 coming
twin vxl or mamba monster?
No, I sprayed it with too high of water pressure and it got wet and just quit working.
im just curious if anyone has tried to fit dual 775 motors on a summit using the revo motor plate?
I took them out of my Villain, so I already had them. I probably wouldn't have done it if I had to buy them. I just wanted it to be waterproof.
wow dude that friggin sick bro! thumbs up and sub for sure!!
Where is part 2???
I mentioned that I painted them.
what mods will i have to make to do this to my 3905 emaxx
It wont make a difference adding another esc if you have brushed motors. You have to do that if you have 2 brushless motors. A mamba is crazy fast but not waterproof. That's why I put 2 Velinions in it.
No, I just wanted something different. They work great.
The Transmission is the same, 2 speed and locking diffs.
All motors will eventually burn out or break. I haven't had any trouble with these.
@richandiben Yes
Probably not going to do a whole video on it. I will put it in a video at some point later.
I am not sure, that is a pretty big motor, it might work though.
Sure is.
Speed run! Please?
@mempey thats good point :)
@kabe628 i thing becous mamba is not waterprof
No. You can't run brushless motors on an ESC intended for brushed motors.
Thinks, I think it was Demon Speeding by Rob Zombie
I'm trying to watch this, but it just keeps freezing up. I have a good Internet connection, and I let it load for min. Anybody else having this problem?
Thank you!
No, I have never heard of that problem.
I am taking a break from RC and RUclips for a while, I have a lot going on. Sorry, but don't expect a running video for a while.
lol, thanks. you are welcome.
excellent job, Now go outside and get to bashing. I have been chained to this desk too long and need to see some insane HQ bashing! Please and thank you
I don't think it will be strong enough for the Summit, it will probably overheat.
@crackpot261 I have no idea what you are asking. Use a full sentence please.
twin vxl..thats expensive :) might as well get a mamba monster or even a rx8 :) Nice build though :) im jealous :)
NO NO NOT TWO OF "The battery leads". 4:02
Switch two of the three MOTOR leads... :-)
Looks awesome BTW.
I spy two AR Drone outdoor canopies!
@cmijn1 The prices are in the description.
