There were 30+ feral cats around my place a couple of years. Animal control limited their involvement to lending me a trap like that, only one, and coming by once per day to pick it up. One day I caught a huge skunk in it. That was a chore...
Great modification. We always have wild animals around our house. We had a family of skunks under the house a few years ago. Animal control wanted a couple hundred dollars each to remove them. They said they would have to kill them because it's illegal to relocate a skunk. We opted not to do that. It would have been too expensive.
For about three years when I first moved in to my house I had a big 'ol three-legged raccoon visit and just sit on the rail of my back deck. Not sure if the previous owners might have fed it or not. But being soft at heart I too ended up feeding it a few little things. It never caused any problems at all, but I worried about its life with only the three legs. Called animal control to help, but they were not inclined to do anything unless it was either a threat or a nuisance. By its size and colour, I figured it was getting up in years, so after those three years never saw it again.
They are very docile for the most part but costly to some homeowners where they want to live in their attic or tear up the lawn looking foe grubs. Cheers
I like it Steve. I was always very scared when moving the little bandits. They have all them fingers to grab you and then they show you how wild they are when trapped…..Preston Hardware, and just to say that they are about the most expensive here in Ottawa. Good to know……nice release mechanism. Good thinking Steve……CHEERS
Well, look at you MacGyvering your trap. First when got our trap I thought the price was just crazy but holy thcit have we relocated creatures using it over the years. I have this thingy to use to lift the it up (already lost the handle thingy long time ago). We've been caching mostly groundhogs this year. Was money well spend. Only one time we had experienced one very mad wild thing that Ron had to go behind the truck (I was behind a big boulder recording). Omg, there is so many groundhogs over there at the project house. Have a great Sunday, Steve 👋
Brilliant modification, Steve. You really put some thought into this. I agree. Who wants to get close to and angry critter? Not me. Raccoons can be vicious! By the way.....do you know what the most dangerous animal is??? Some would say it's a tiger or a Grizzly, but no......it's the Housewife!! LOL
How's she goin'? I like how you have looked at the trap, identified the weaknesses, especially in the carrying and releasing, and then designed a very workable solution to the problem. And being 30 feet away when releasing a trapped animal, no matter what it is, has to be a good plan in my books!! Take 'er easy!!
I have a few of them live traps, different sizes. WOW, look at them mods, Steve thinking again. I haven't had much problem on the carry or release.
Hi Papa
It's game on for catching these animals before they overtake my house 🤣

Nice upgrade to the trap nice to see you keeping the Raccoons from Living Rent Free on your property 👍
Thanks , your so right 👍

Hi Val
Yes trapping a skunk can be a stinky job:)
Nice thinking Steve. You don’t want to be around an angry racoon. You could be in a world of hurt.
Thanks Lloyd
It's the skunks I don't want to get near to at all 😅🤣

Hi Gator
I think I live in a racoon city it seems , never seen so many .
Pretty elaborate! I bet you can't wait to get it out there! And a trapped racoon is dam nasty to deal with!!
Good one Steve✌
Thanks Marc, the trap is going to get a lot of use.

Hi Paivi
Being able to release them far away is what I designed , much better than what they came up with :)

HAHAHA so true Craig 👍
@@SteveRobReviews Ask me how I know !!
That would be a great vid topic to tackle 🤣😅

Hi Mike
Yes exactly, thanks bud.
Hey Steve. You put some engineering into this trap in order to make it safe for both parties. Great job on the improvement.
Thanks Kenny 👍
Nice upgrade. Old guys like me can't outrun a skunk!
I would love to be your old again , your not even 50 yet 🤷
Pretty good work around. The duke live traps have a ring/bar closing mechanism. To release i just roll them 180 and Pepe walks out.
Pretty clever idea. I don't have much experience with raccoons, just what I see on TV. Aren't they sweet and cuddly?
Thanks Bruce
Their just like a big cat but tears up your roof to get in or tears up your lawn looking for grubs . 🤣
@@SteveRobReviewstear up my lawn! I’d be eating raccoon stew
That's an amazing and clever mod for that trap! Wow!
Thanks 👍
Catch and release seems popular lately 😁
Yes absolutely as opposed to catch and eat 🤣
Sometimes I don’t think, I know you have too much time on your hands Steve 😂 🍻
I have lots of youtube time occasionally 😅
Looks much safer.
Hi Terry
Yes , much better now.
There’s nothing docile about a raccoon, they ALL have the ability and will attack you ,don’t b complacent!!!
My one neighbor had his roof tore up as they got in his attic , so my lawn getting tore up will end soon :)
