Skunks do it to, but only make tiny holes. You could count yourself lucky. That racoon isn't trying to move in. Very inventive solutions Steve.

Got him! Yeah, he wasn't happy. I don't release mine till the next day. All I caught this week was 1 possum.
You finely outsmarted him Steve. I don’t know if the raccoons are that smart around here but I know they are big. They get big tipping over the green bin and then the door opens and voila!!!! A seven coarse meal just that easy… Well done Steve and it makes for a very good video…..CHEERS

Feisty little guy! I've never seen a raccoon in real life outside of the zoo and West Edmonton Mall. I do have a mom skunk and three baby skunks living under the porch next door that my cat has made friends. I've forbidden their romance though, he's too old to be hanging around with a single mom
Hi Wyatt They are smart but the odd one is very destructive . My neighbor had one tear the shingle off her roof at the air vent and tear that apart to get in her attic. I came over after she got a company to trap it and cut all the branches that it used to get up on her roof. It ended up costing her over 1K to fix all the damage and remove it.
I think i saw a gps in his pocket , Probably on the bus heading back now . lol . Bet he watches your videos and knows all the traps . lol Stainless zip ties
They only dig when they detect grubs in the soil under the grass. Put down some grub killer on your lawn and they should stop tearing the grass up. (that was what they were doing to mine). Cheers my YT friend.

Your traps is starting to look like some kind of sci-fi experiment 😄 Our trap hasn't been in use for some weeks because we are having problem the latch not keeping the door closed & locked. The cage has been through a lot and is in need of some TLC. We have been mind blown about the sheer number of groundhogs that are running around my project house neighborhood. If they can smell it, they go for it. You're changes were well developed and thought out and in the end you have proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that yes we are smarter than a racoon!! Wow .... I did not know that marshmallows work .... I use dry cat food from Walmart .... I have caught about ten raccoons using the same type of trap .... after catching about three the problem goes away for about 6 months .... I drive about 8 miles to release .... the other day saw mother and 4 baby raccoons crossing street .... it never ends and they can pull boards off buildings .... they are a nuisance to deal with .... Thank you for this video though nice to know I am not alone with this problem .... 😊😊😊
We have racoons, skunks and turkey digging in our lawn I believe looking for grubs or worms. They make a mess, but the woodchucks (gophers) damage the most. Plus, the red painted woodchucks will return after trucking them for twelve miles across the Mohawk River!

Mike THINKS he doesn't like squirrels, but I know that he really LOVES them. Same with you, Steve. You really love these raccoons but there is some small block preventing that love from flowing forward. I think a simple meditation will work: Close your eyes and picture the cute raccoon and say to yourself "Raccoons are Nice" Repeat 100 times a day and before you know it, you'll be hand-feeding these guys in your kitchen.🐭🐁🐑🦓🦫🐿🐰🦡🦨 Sneaky little guys to pull the marshmallow out the back! You might have University-educated Raccoons in your area! Is there a University nearby? The first one you caught was a high school dropout for sure, but not this guy, he's got a PhD in trap evasive studies! Maybe stop dropping them in the woods beside the Animal Sciences building! You still have a challenge ahead with these guys. They are smart!!

This happens about every 20 years as it's the odd coon that does the lawn tearing up as the majority just find better meals:)

Never seen a possum up here but they say their here now . The coons are many , never seen so many so relocating them to the bush is working so far.

Have you checked if your turf has grubs or wasp nests or similar that the racoons like to eat?

Yes, I did , I couldn't see anything at all . I am working on a prevention video in case there are bugs under the sod .
I have raccoons digging in my turf looking for worms.
At my place they would have tore up the whole lawn if I didn't trap them first.
