They are perfectors of skin tone like foundation is for your face . I was required to wear them as a Chanel employee. They slim you down and make your toned legs look better.

I love dress’s so great for a warm desert living. I also wear skirts, I don’t wear shorts…I love Catherine style. She always looks pretty together and elegant. When I went to school, we couldn’t wear pants to school unless it was raining by 1970 we were allowed to wear pants. I think it was a good rule.😊

Thank you for sharing Carlsen! It's so nice to hear about fashion in other decades, the real wear examples. I myself have my mom's outfits locked in my mind from her 30s, perhaps because I am in the 30s now. I can relate it the skirt dress looks much more, especially in this casual period of our time. Catherine's style is very British and polished. It sets a good example for us. Take care 😊

Wish I saw what comment this was in reply to. I 100% agree and recommend wearing pantyhose for the great benefits and polished look it provides. It's the same as opting to not wear a bra or foundation. It's a big change but substantially elevating the look. Thanks for watching !

As regards wearing dresses all the time and everywhere, my hat goes off to her. I don’t know how she does it. In scorching summer temperatures I cannot tolerate pantyhose. In sub zero temperatures where I live, I need 3 layers on my legs to feel comfortable at times. I could not bear to have a knee length skirt and just pantyhose. Privilege of being a commoner. I have the freedom to do so

Hi Bernadette! I am right there with you with the cold. But I also don't like to compromise on skirts and dresses with boots in winter. It's a never-ending battle between fashion and practicality. I purchased fleece lined tights in nude so I can wear sweater dresses, and always look forward to warmer weather. I too wear pantyhose every single time with skirts or dresses. It's a habit mostly and my feet are so pale and veiny I would be embarrassed to show them off. Feels like foundation for my legs. And yes, having the freedom to choose what we wear is nice. Thank you for stopping by and sharing 😘

  • @tophose999
    @tophose999 Год назад +3

Very interesting video! The princess is a great style icon, following in the footsteps of so many royals over the years. The Duke of Windsor is still listed as a men's style icon even almost 100 years later!
Nude isn't a colour that I use in menswear, but I completely understand how it is for women's wear. Pantyhose just polish off an outfit aesthetically, and have the practical benefits you mentioned as well. I do see far more women wearing them in Europe than in North America, which matches with your experience too. Dresses (or in my case dressing in trousers and a button up shirt/sweater rather than joggers and a hoodie) are just a way of looking a little better as a general rule, and I've really grown to embrace it.
"Coats are investment pieces". Very true! Buying a good quality coat or three is a great way to finish your outfit and look great for years or decades.
Interesting that you say that not everything needs to be tailored. Most of the pieces I buy I end up taking to my tailor, and one of the things I learned early on in my menswear journey is "know your tailor by name" because having things altered is such a key piece of getting things to fit and look their best in menswear.
Blazers (or sports coats) are also something that elevate outfits and are a great way to level up your style!
Jewelry isn't something I do a lot- I wear the same two rings all the time, and change up my watch based on my outfit. Wearing gifts that came from people when you are with them is such a classy, respectful thing to do. Just a nice touch. :)
Dressing up for flights is something that my parents always insisted we do when I was a kid, but these days it's rare for me to see people wearing anything but joggers, shorts, and flip flops on planes. I always dress in a sports coat and trousers, and sometimes even choose to be in a tie just because I want to look good! The sports coat also gives me pockets to put all the things in at security and to always know where my boarding passes and passport are.
Sweater dresses are a wonderful way to wear dresses in winter- I completely agree! While I do agree that you shouldn't spend more money than you have to, I try to stay away from high street brands because of the lack of sustainability and ethical production in their goods. The more I go into such stores, the less excited I am by the materials and production of the goods I'm seeing. Maybe I'm getting spoiled by working with a tailor to make clothes, but I find I can get good quality, ethically made clothes that fit me well and just buy fewer pieces and wear them more.
Wearing the right makeup for the camera is definitely a key thing, and everyone who is on camera regularly should be wearing the right amount! And being active is also a great thing. Find something that you love to do that keeps your body moving and then do it as much as you reasonably can :)
And the final points about smiling and focusing on the people you're with are very good too- more classy, respectful ways to be!
Thanks for a great set of advice, paying homage to a true icon of the world today!

So glad to see you back with the lengthly comments. I appreciate all the pauses it took to write this 🤗. I didn't know about the Duke Of Windsor. Don't think I followed men's wear, but noticed royal men always look polished, preppy and put together. I assume they have image specialists for this and a long history to follow. I will pay more attention on the next season of Crowns 😍.
Your parents seemed to have planted fashion seeds in you as well. My mom would never walk out with me in public while I was wearing sportswear ( the 2023 version of sweatpants). It kind of stayed with me : play clothes vs walk in public clothes. I also always change as soon as I come home. It feels cleaner this way. And if there was any doubt left, Covid permanently fixed it for us..
Travel attire: well you inspired me for that video, know how I feel.
I am actively looking for brands that are unknown but good quality to share here. I also follow the brands that Kate wears because some are not well known and without the popular brand markup. But pounds are still a lot compared to the $. Need to reset my perception of what quality should cost. Until then my friend, Keep on smiling! 😊

@@Chicquette My parents weren't very into fashion. I talk with my dad about it sometimes now. I got into it as my "midlife crisis" a few years ago, when I got promoted to a senior management position and realized that I should probably up my style game. I do often change after work, so I'm with you on that. Although I work from home :)
The royals often do dress well. The Duke of Windsor I refer to was the former king who abdicated. He was an impeccable dresser, and is still pointed to over 80 years later as a fashion icon.
The royal family get to give royal warrants to companies that they particularly like, and many that currently hold warrants are clothing companies. Kate doesn't give out warrants yet, but I believe William will start to very soon :)

Nude-toned shoes are hard to find where I live. For work, I had a dove-grey pair that went with everything. Unfortunately, they became stained after getting wet in a rainstorm and the soft leather couldn't be returned to the original shade. Pantyhose is still part of the business dress code in most places, but, as I live in a very hot city, almost nobody wears them and shoes sold here are designed for bare feet. I wear dresses and skirts 98%of the time...and they are so comfortable!

    • @Chicquette

It's hard to find the perfect nude. Mine turned out to be more like a pale pink and for some reason it blends in best. Would have never thought. If you can wear shoes without them hurting you must feel comfortable. I used to wear a bag of bandages with me until I switched to real leather shoes and pantyhose. Thank you for sharing!
