      @@eileenternullo8077 Absolutely. And once I find the right pants, then comes the challenge of finding stylish shoes with at least a bit of a heel to pair with my pants. Most platforms are too rigid to be considered real shoes, but I do like that they give me height without feeling too painful to wear for extended periods of time.

      It’s a joke to try to find one-piece swimsuits, and as for wetsuits …😂 I have difficulties with almost all of my clothes. Obviously bodysuits are a problem, but also my leggings are rarely comfortable or flattering. I wish companies would offer a choice of short, medium, or long torso fits. Our sisters with short torsos are also suffering!

      Hard to find tops that are long enough to not have skin showing. Have never once found a romper I can fit in - once the legs are in, the shoulders come up to my boobs. Any dress with a fitted waist, the part where it curves out for the butt is actually in the middle of my back. "High waisted" pants are not even high on me - they're just how normal jeans are supposed to fit.
      All my best dresses are empire waist or long dresses that just flow out.

      Hi Kim, I hear you. Some brands just don't work for everyone. I think we should assume that the default state for the modeling size most brands choose, won't look good on most of us. Instead, narrow down your search to specific brands that offer long torso pieces.
      Here are some brands known for offering long torso options:
      Banana Republic - Offers a range of long torso options in their tops and dresses.
      J.Crew - Provides tall sizes, which can be suitable for women with longer torsos.
      Ann Taylor - Known for their tall sizes, which include longer torso options in tops and dresses.
      Athleta - Offers long torso options in their activewear and swimwear.
      Hope this helps. Let me know once you try them.

    Wow, this is the best video on how to style a long torso I have ever watched on YT. No one else has been this specific and clear as you were in this video. So glad you used Kate as an example, because she's so classy. I have gained weight after having my son and it's a bit harder to dress my long torso with the extra pounds, especially around the mid-section. These tips are going to help me build my new wardrobe so that I can feel confident again until I lose the weight! THANK YOU!!! ❤

      💕 Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so glad that you found the video helpful. This is the reason why I make them: to help women get dressed and feel confident Every Single Day. I hear you, getting back to pre-baby clothes is a challenge, but it's doable so don't lose hope!
      I love to see people's reaction when I tell them I am a mother of 3, to break the myth that moms look a certain way, and that we stop caring about how we look. it is simply not true. We all want to look attractive and feel beautiful in our own bodies.
      It was my main motivator to get back in shape. It does get harder after each pregnancy, but know that everyone is going through this, you are not alone and you are beautiful and enough just the way you are today.
      Personally, I have an emotion connection to my clothes and I get attached. Most of my dresses are over 10 years old in my closet and I simply refused to replace them. 😅
      I have so much to share on this journey and am working on ways to bring them to life on this channel because clothes are ultimately a powerful tool to help us feel better, feel more confident and bring us joy when worn.
      I hope you find comfort in what you wear and don't forget to enjoy the process that will take you to the next version of yourself. Your body has created another human which in an amazing accomplishment. Enjoy these precious moments with your little one. The rest will come in time.
      I am such a big fan of Kate, so you will see her again. Wishing you a wonderful day! 😘

But I puff out the back of the shirt more to compensate and cover the height of the jeans at the back. I used to be the same that is why I never wore high wasted pants, didn't feel comfortable with them near my ribs. Maybe need to keep looking until you find the ones that fit as close as possible.

      Hi Barbara. Is it a maxi skirt or dress? If skirt, does it end at your waistline? You basically need to draw your waist as the end point between your tops and bottoms. A dress and belt seem easier to me. Watch examples of what Kate does with pants. Try a high waist and tuck in the top and add a belt where you want the waist to be. Hope this helps. • @Chicquette
      @Chicquette  10 месяцев назад +3

      Hi, have you tried measuring your abdomen and trying out different inseam? Good quality pants will share this information in the details and I also find most "high rise" just regular size, nothing spectacular. I think they consider 10" high rise. But perhaps you can look for specific 12" rise and see if it fits better. Let me know what you find. Brands like Banana Republic have regular, short and long and under details and size will describe the different measurements. Hope this helps.
      PS: There is Nothing wrong with you! You are how you are supposed to be. Not fitting within the brands you shop for just means you need to be more selective in what you wear. Which makes sense because there is no one out there like you and most models are just that, models. You are unique, beautiful and enough, just the way you are. Sending 💕

    "V-neck tops are excellent for elongating the upper body and breaking up the length of a long torso" 4:18-4:24
    Why do we need to elongate it?

    • @Chicquette
      @Chicquette  Год назад +10

      Hi Sofia, you have a great question. What I meant through this statement is that if we look at the torso as one long piece, we want to break it into smaller visual fragments. We accomplish this by reducing the size from the top or the bottom of the trunk or both from the top and the bottom. The V-neck shape elongates the neck, exposing the collarbone, and cuts the torso starting where the V tip ends. If you look at the two pictures side by side of Kate at 4:25 you will see that 1/3 of the torso is visually removed by breaking it with the V-neck. An extra effect that she adds is by breaking the torso visually on the bottom as well, with the horizontal belt, in both outfits. Very strategically placed. So if we were to measure what we now perceive as her torso from the bottom of the V to the belt, it's about 1/3 of what her real torso is. Easiest comparison is if you imagine her without the neckline, in a mockneck. Her torso would look much longer. Hope I managed to answer your question. Thank you for stopping by!

    I cant wear high necklines.
    Not only am I cursed with a very long torso, I have very short leg length below the knee, and super rectangle shaped body with all my weight collecting on my tummy like im always 4 months pregnant, my tummy protudes more than my small bust. I also have a very protruding butt and the worst of all a massive big head like a lollypop.
    I really dont know how to dress, if i do one thing, it makes the other worse. Im overweight since some years but when i was skinny everyone said my head was disproportionately large.

    • @Chicquette
      @Chicquette  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for sharing your frustrations. It’s tough when we feel we have to choose between highlighting one part of the body versus another. Don't beat yourself up. Perhaps you can try focusing on one area to make an improvement like elongating your legs with nude pumps and sheath dress with a belt? Looking for fitted blazers with shoulder pads, ending just where you want to cut your torso might also help, like a cropped one.
      For me, losing weight was a game changer and the biggest challenge I had to face. Because when I gained weight it went everywhere, and the tummy area is where it all likes to accumulate. It's inevitable. I've since started my intermittent fasting journey. Made a couple of videos recently that might help if this is something that interests you. Wishing you good luck and don't give up. There is always something we can do. Take care 😘

    I'm not sure if Kate is long torso or more rectangle. As someone who is tall and long waisted - I'm not sure all your tips are accurate for someone long waisted. The biggest challenge is finding tops , jackets, dresses that are proportionate - this is why I'm wondering if Kate is truly long waisted but instead a rectangle. Crop tops are expecially challenging - the proportions are all wrong. Empire waist on a long-waisted person just makes you look pregnant. I appreciate where you are coming from but I don't think Kate is the right example.

    • @sstephens2175
      @sstephens2175 4 месяца назад

      I think she is long waisted, but because she doesn't have any weight in the middle she can get by with an empire waist. As a 5'5" 150 lb woman that's in menopause with extra weight in the middle I need dresses and clothes that fit my natural waist. Companies choose to make maxi dresses and the empire waist because it's cheap for them to do. It's been decades since I've seen natural waist clothes in your average stores. They are even hard to find in higher end stores. I can't go beyond that and pay 2 to 5 hundred for one dress. Kate Middleton and Kelly Rippa wear classy styles that I love, but finding those on a cheaper budget is hard to do. Again both women have zero weight in the middle. Even when I was 125 lbs (for most of my life) minus the last 7 years), finding a dress to fit correctly was a huge challenge. However, in the 80's I owned quite a few. Cheap, fast fashion has taken over everywhere except super high end stores. It's just so frustrating!!!

      Kate has long torso as I saw her in flesh in Kensington. Ps she is not 5'9' as I am 5'8" and was wearing flats and was taller than her. I would say she is between 5"6"-5"7". She wears high heels to balance long torso. I would not say extremely long torso but below equal measurements ie she was in flats and you can see it in naked eye. But good on her as she learned the tricks by high waisted ie actual garments are tailored to her and heels. But you are right in her shape is rectangle but leg length is different dimension to body types.
      Be proud of who you are and there are techniques and tricks that can help.
      Look I though I had long torso until low rise fashion passed then I realised I am actual equal proportions.

    I have a long torso and I can tell you Kate does NOT. She would not be able to wear clothes with sinching at the waist. If I try to wear clothes that have a crop top or cinched waist, it falls at the wrong place. Instead of at my waist, it comes up under my boobs because they create these clothes for ladies with short torso. Kate has long legs. This is ridiculous.

      I'm sorry to hear you are having a hard time with dressing yourself. Body positivity is an important part of living with the body we have. There is not one person out there who is completely happy with what they have. We must all embrace it because it's the only one we have.
      What you can do for your body type, is to reshape your outline. Define your wait at your ribcage, where you think it would look good. You can do this with a belt or a fitted buttoned shirt, or high rise bottoms that end there and you tuck in the shirt. Best would be a dress with a belt. Also, do everything you can to elongate your legs. I have a video on that as well. Victoria Beckham is good at this. Wear heels and cover them with bootcut pants or maxi skirts/ dresses to give the illusion that your legs are longer and the proportions balance out better. Hope this helps. Good luck and take care of yourself!
