    Many notable things about the screenshots is:
    The game uses Global Illumination (a rendering move which basically makes light bounce from an area to another area. Standing on grass will reveal a bit of green light on your body)
    Mickey does not have his brush in his hand in the projector level and if you zoom in you can see it being on his back (although he DOES still jump as if he still has it in his hands)
    The brush has paint and thinner on it (something that was actually in the E3 demo of the original game)
    There are some leaked gameplay that shows Mickey having unlockable costumes (although we do not know which ones). This may imply that Mickey may have the Hero and Scrapper costumes. Mickey also uses a 3D model instead of a 2D model in the HUD, which may ease updating the HUD for other costumes for the developers.
    The game has an improved camera and it may even include projector skipping that was present in the Japanese version of the first game and in every version of the second game.
    Cannot wait to play this on the PS5!
    (also, EM2 is better than EM1 in every way, except its polish and story.)

    • @PixelKeyPlus
      @PixelKeyPlus  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the info. What are the Hero and Scrapper costumes? Also, I don't remember projector skipping. Maybe I never noticed it as a feature when I played EM2.
      Also, EM2 being better in your eyes is a take I can greatly appreciate! I like both a lot, in some ways, for different reasons.

      @@PixelKeyPlus Now that I think about it, I'm probs confusing fast travel with projector skipping, although the former may have been a feature in EM2.

    I've played neither the first nor second game due to lack of console, but back when it was first released with thanks to the news Oswald was brought back into the Disney fold I definitely had an interest in seeing what it was all about. Hearing that it will be across multiple platforms this time rather than stuck on one increases my interest, but I'm still not certain I'd go out of my way to buy it so I'm on the fence still.
    I'm glad to hear they've added new actions to use for Mickey, but at the same time I'd rather hear they've added more possible endings to the game, made some kind of side collectible which would unlock cutscenes of the things in the world Mickey missed while he was out in the real world completely unaware of the damage he caused.
    I don't know if an Epic Mickey 2 will come along either, if the first game sells well maybe. I'd probably take more interest in that game because Oswald has more time in it as far as I'm aware. There's something about the rabbit's situation that really tugs on my heart strings.

      @PixelKeyPlus  4 месяца назад +2

      Yeah, I love Oswald as a character. I like that Mickey and Oswald are basically brothers, and they're a good duo.
      I'm not sure how much stuff they'll add. I'm surprised that they're adding costumes and new moves, so who knows? 😁

    • @dragonbornexpress5650
      @dragonbornexpress5650 4 месяца назад

      @@PixelKeyPlus. Given most of the gameplay issues with the first game were largely due to inexperience with the genre, it's possible that Purple Lamp are adapting the gameplay to match what people expect from good platformers. (Which makes sense considering, unlike Junction Point, they've actually made multiple platformers.)

      @@PixelKeyPlus. Honestly, I like what Purple Lamp are bringing to the table, too; All of these movement options could also have a ripple effect on the rest of the game: After all, in the case of the dash attack, not only do you want to make sure the player can't use it to break the level design, but you also want to make sure the player can't use it to cheese fights; This, in turn, requires the developers to tweak the level design and to also find ways to make sure such a move can't be abused in combat (whether that be by nerfing the move itself, making platforming segments more complex, creating a new enemy type as a counter to such a move, giving existing enemies brand new attacks to fight against the abuse of such a move, stuff like that). To put it bluntly, there's a LOT of stuff that goes into making a platformer, especially one like Epic Mickey: Lots of different things to take into account between the gameplay mechanics, level design, combat, puzzle solving, traversal, you name it.

    There were 3 main issues with the game when it came out. 1 was the camera (it was ASS) 2 was the little game direction and 3 was there was no fast travel system so you had to keep jumping through the projector things. 2 and 3 I could deal with but the camera was REALLY bad. The story though 10/10 this was the game that made me fall in love with disney very enjoyable and modern disney could never do it lmao. Also go check out the orginal concept art for the game they pushed the spooky aspect of it highly recomend

    • @PixelKeyPlus
      @PixelKeyPlus  4 месяца назад +2

      I've seen some of the original concept art, and it's really cool to the point where I wonder, "Did they really think Disney would allow this?😅" But then again, the game in general feels like something Disney wouldn't allow, but yet here we are.
      I love this game a lot, such a cool story and concept. I'm also looking forward to better camera controls when I get this game on PS5.

    • @dragonbornexpress5650
      @dragonbornexpress5650 4 месяца назад

      According to Warren Spector himself (the director of the entire franchise at the time), most of the original concept art was all about figuring out what Disney would be okay with and what they wouldn't be okay with, often going for the most extreme pitches first so that later pitches would look more tolerable to the Disney executives even if it was still stuff they wouldn't even touch at the time. The other shortcomings of the game had to do with the fact that it wasn't developed as a Wii title originally and also because most of Junction Point's staff had little to no experience with platformers, meaning there were a lot of rookie mistakes that were made along the way. (Which includes the camera, but also how clunky the controls feel, the limited movement options, etc.)

      @dragonbornexpress5650 That's interesting to know, makes a lot of sense too. Also, good on them for figuring out a way to get some of the "more tolerable" stuff around Disney. 😅

    11:05. You got it correct; Normally it wouldn't be that bothersome without moves like those, but I can count on one hand the number of people who weren't asking for some kind of extra movement option in the original version. (Especially in some of the boss fights like the Clock Tower; You almost never have enough time to get away from the giant fists without getting hit at least once because of how slow Mickey moves.) That aside, unclear if the dash attack can be used in the air or if it's exclusively used on the ground seeing as the former would naturally result in some level design changes so as to make sure the player can't break the game.
    Clock Tower was the first boss of the game, although the whole of Gremlin Village is directly based on the Small World ride with elements of Fantasyland merged in. (Like the Dumbo ride in the Ticket Booth area.)

    • @PixelKeyPlus
      @PixelKeyPlus  4 месяца назад

      Being able to break the game was what I was worried about with the dash. I think I like the idea of the dash being more of a quick dodge move other than something for platforming, but we'll have to wait and see.

    • @dragonbornexpress5650
      @dragonbornexpress5650 4 месяца назад

      @@PixelKeyPlus. I think relegating it to combat only would be a mistake (At that point, it might as well just be a dodge roll or sidestep; Plus, the enemies in Epic Mickey were never particularly interested in fast attacks except for maybe the Beetleworx and some of the bosses), but it's as you said: Wait and see. I personally keep coming back to the idea that the paintbrush can be used in combo attacks where it transforms into cartoony versions of different melee weapons as I feel that would add more depth to the combat mechanics and allow for more player expression in fights, but that's beside the point.

  • @TheYodelingViking
    @TheYodelingViking 3 месяца назад

    With the paintbrush aiming I believe the best way to do it is to do the same thing Super Mario Galaxy did in 3D All Stars. You could aim the same way as you did on the Wii, but could also aim with the right analog stick or on handheld mode use the touchscreen.

    Since there are 5 costume slots, I assume they'll be the ones from 2: Brave Little Tailor, Steamboat Willie, Fire Fighter, Football Touchdown and Construction Worker. These all had special effects, like Football Protecting you from attacks and Fire Fighter giving you a longer paint/thinner stream.
    Edit: Non Wii versions had a 6th Mickey Costume, one based off of the Sorcerer's Apprentice. So, maybe I'm wrong?

    • @PixelKeyPlus
      @PixelKeyPlus  4 месяца назад

      You might be right. But it would be such a shame if it was only the costumes from EM2, it would feel like a missed opertunity. You're right about the sorcerer's apprentice costume. Maybe all of the costumes will be completely new? I guess we'll have to wait and see 😅

      Another thing I'd like would be if befriended enemies attacked with paint. Like, sometimes I'd try befriending all of the enemies in a specific area, but then the friendly ones would try to thin out the non friendly ones, making it take longer. I know that it's a stupid thing to complain about, but I found it very annoying.

    Please stop comparing everything in a video game, related to Disney, to Kingdom Hearts. It's beyond obnoxious. Mickey Mouse is not a "Kingdom Hearts character", he's a Disney character. Disney video games desperately need to be their own thing away from that series, they need to actually *feel* like Disney. Constantly having people shout "Kingdom Hearts" in my ear when I'm talking about Epic Mickey or Disney Infinity makes me further and further dislike Kingdom Hearts.
