I think the location chosen for the video speaks volumes!!!
A non musician rarely has a concept of the Herculean amount of dedication and discipline it takes to reach this level of mastery....it's equal to the echelon of an NFL Quarterback or NASA Astronaut....even if you don't care for this music....respect the effort.....
I listen to Eric Johnson playing...ok...I like Proudfoot's style and amazing long skinny fingers that dance on the fret board. I listen to Glenn Proudfoot to unwind, relieve stress (Im self-employed), I marvel at his talent. I dont do drugs or drink for pain...but I will listen to great guitarists like this to make my spirit smile.
Being a fan of Eric Johnson I was amazed at Glen Proudfoot's 'perfect' playing in this wonderful piece of music. Speed and melody. Clean and articulate. I wouldn't call this a 'copycat' but rather an inspiration created from the influence of a master. Two thumbs up.
it is 2002 end of summer and i still cant get enough of this perfect tones..thanks glenn. 🙂
Beautiful.
Perfect strumming...
Perfect indeed. Kudos to you Glenn.
Wow very interesting to watch thanks for sharing
You can have a guitar teacher teach you these notes. But no teacher on earth can teach you the feel and touch. That's something that only the clock can give you. If you're fortunate.
You are a god, Glenn. I'm so deeply moved, as always. May your success increase.
Cliffs of Dover called. It said, "totally awesome, and glad I could inspire you to create this masterpiece."
Glenn, wish you were playing this a couple decades ago so you could get the recognition you deserve.
Love this eric johnson inspired piece, very lovely.
ok I wasn't imagining the hints of Cliffs of Dover ...
Victor Levy Good luck unhearing it ;) haha
+Victor Levy No.....It's definitely inspired by EJ, but it's still an amazing piece of music performed flawlessly.
Music is meant to inspire. Thank you Eric, thank you Glenn. The journey continues.
Magnifique !
You do these technically mind blowing "monster licks" and it'd be easy for someone to hastily peg you as some mindless shredder, but your playing is the height of tasteful virtuosity. This is great - flavors of Cliffs of Dover.
Sweet to my ears. Great playing Glenn.
Dude that sounds fantabulous.👍
Beautiful, and there is nothing at all wrong with taking inspiration from another artist's work! Every musician has and will always do it! To not think otherwise just shows your musical maturity. I'm off to buy this record.
awesome....thanks glenn
Fantastic
Somebody get this dude a killin band! Great playing.
Beautiful song. Love it
beautiful tone and great riffs!
Glen, The tune’s inspirational feel is awesome as well as your playing. You inspired me to grab my Strat and put me “In Spirit” to play something cool.
Thank you for sharing.
wow!!!!...excelent!!...
An absolute masterpiece. This is my favorite instrurmental. I like it even better than Cliffs.
Beautiful piece of music , beautifully played , yes very much like cliffs of dover .
Sorry haters but this is awesome! Glenn fantastic piece and really cool video.
thats absolutelly perfect nand awesome..i have no enough : :-)
A brilliant nod to Eric Johnson. I wish I could take what I learned from those who inspired me and create something as beautiful as this. Great job Glenn.
Excelente
Best talent in the world. Listen to all his songs. Totally inspired me. This guys a true great. Sounds like like GLENN PROUD FOOT ONLY. HA. love it.
Great technique and playing ,
I love it. I can't stop to listen to this song. And I don't want to.
Such a great tribute to his biggest influence...
U r the best glenn!!!!
nádherné, beautyfull
its song like a Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover . I hear different music, but mood...
Awesome job Glenn! Keep rocking!
It sounds free and so relaxed.Reminds of the great Shawn Lane.Good Job
Awesome!
Still playing this in 2024
Same! I got the tab for this a few years ago and worked nonstop for weeks. I got close but just couldn’t make it “Perfect”.
Always somebody with the 2024 post
Glenn is another one of those world class guitarists that is under the radar a bit. His technique is phenomenal. This song is great. Cliffs of Dover with a bit more fireworks, great stuff!
splendid, Glenn ! thanks !!!
Gran performance, Excelente guitarrista.!!!!!
Just like others here - your influences are clear, but you are taking those influences and doing something original and beautiful with them. Great playing. You have a new fan here!
Remembered his name randomly in my head today. Have not listened in years! Anyone know what hes up to now?
Beauty as usual!
Amazing! Beautiful melodies and great playing. I just wish the drums and bass were a little more interesting.
Just mind blowing 😍
perfect song
Nice!
una locura!
Love it!
Like others I agree it's got a Cliffs of Dover vibe, great track and playing!
Fine player.
Smells like Cliffs of Dover. Very nice playing anyway.
gabrielthornmusic Eric Johnson fanboy obviously 🤷🏻♂️
Guitar players at the level of the dude in the video are already well aware. It's an homage.
There are even some direct riffs from Cliffs of Dover re-interpreted here.
The guy isn't hiding that he's clearly a fan of EJ.
@@TheGgreen100 plus the location of the video seems like a Cliffs reference, although this chap is an Aussie so who knows if it goes that deep
Just 💚 the calm rythme in this number, AND the brilliant playing 😎, first MELODIC single-guitar tune in YEARS ! ⭐👍👌😎⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🐕 VUF :D
Great Video. Been listening to the album over and over again. It's amazing! :)
Technika rytmika Gleen je excellent Guitar
Great !!!
i bet he listened to some of virtuoso guitarist and get inspired from them..quality mate!..
Great cliffs of dover cover
Awesome Glen, someone is always there to criticise or say its been done before. Thank you for creating such a beautiful piece of music. Even if it has a part of the same scale that Eric Johnson used we can thank him for opening the door way allowing you to create this masterpiece. While Cliffs of Dover is awesome, Glen, you song is "PERFECT".
+Melissa Gelonese I have to disagree and say both songs are "PERFECT" in their own right.(Cliffs of Dover happens to be my all time favorite)
+Melissa Gelonese I'm usually not slow on the uptake, but I just got your "PERFECT" comment...lol
Yeah there are more than a few similarities depends on how good your ears are ,I liked it tho Glen is a bad puppy
Would you consider putting this on spotify ? Cause i wanna take this with me everywhere
Speed without soul,,but still great,,I just like more soul,to each their own.
Well done dude! Let the haters hate, just keep on playing no one can touch you ;-)
ok so I've listened to this song dozens of times in the last few days....
and looked into Mr Proudfoot's other work to see if he is indeed - as claimed below - an Eric Johnson wanna be - answer?
Emphatic NO.
Check out the work he does with his power trio - then check our his ballads - then check out the time he spent in European prog rock giants Prazsky Vyber.
I think he's a musical chameleon - which is a style unto itself...
Remembered the Eric Johnson. Very beautiful this song
Cool track. (Y)
RUclips recommends a lot of crap.
NOT THIS TIME!
First they gave me the Danny Gatton inspired chicken pickin' video with Johnny Hyland, then shredding with Tommy Emmanuel, now this inspired piece.
I read the Eric Johnson comparisons ,,,,,,yeah ,,,, OK
But Eric Johnson gets plenty of Hendrix comparisons, and Hendrix got Buddy Guy comparisons when he started out and .....
It's a beautiful piece, that showcases Glenn's ability to switch styles, and still kill it.
Love it
i would love to see some tabs of this song
I like it
i think it ok to be inspired by other artists
so i am guessing by your comment you a master composer and can tell me what key signature he is using and what mode
Wow. You've been possessed by Eric Johnson. You've nailed his style perfectly in this beautiful song.
genius
I gotta say Glenn - every time I hear this tune it makes me want to practice - I want to be able to play this one day... fucking Perfect :)
awesome! ,tabs? :p
If I could study with one living guitar player besides satch or vai it would be Glen fucking proudfoot
Jesus, that's a player
I like it though. Dude can play for sure.
sweet
Something tells me....with a name like "perfect".....this is probably a dedication it eric johnson
! Like Eric Johnson! Nice!
Maybe "Perfect" is a homage to Cliffs of Dover - Maybe Cliffs of Dover is "Perfect"!
Super Super Super
Obviously, a lot lot of work was put into this. But consider using pauses, they are a powerful tool, you know)
Obviously it's a nod to Eric Johnson. And an amazing one at that.
Do some of u guys really think he's like trying to steal EJ's music or something?
Also complaining that this (or any music) isn't original is absurd. There are 100 million billion zillion tillion fillion songs out there. Who cares if any given piece of music is original or not?
If you enjoy the sounds hitting your eardrums, great! If not that's just fine. But why give a shit if this one piece of music out of inifinity songs is 100% original or not?
Such a bizarre thing to get hung up on!
PS. Liked and subbed. This stuff is bitchin! What a picker!!
se eu nao estivesse vendo o video podia jurar que era o Eric Johnson muito top
Very much Eric Johnson sound and style
Also, I imagined Cliffs of Dover while hearing this music, meantime, the most beautiful.
A lot of eric johnson and steve vai i in there!
+Harry Morris I thought so too, lovely executed
I'm really getting sick of all the phenomenal guitarists in this world. I often think there couldn't be a better instrument the limits of which it appears we will never see!
Did it sound like an improvised version of cliffs of Dover
Even though he does use too many elements, from you know who. I can appreciate this.
Rather than hearing another malmsteen clone.
Glenn's one of Nashville's finest sidemen...
Cliffs of Dover, sounds good
Sounds great with a studio recording but live we carnt here nothing
faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkk ... too good!!!
I get how you would play this, but how the hell would you compose this?
Some people hear just a riff but a true composer hears the entire score in their heads. It's comes naturally like a tidal wave.
Clffs of Rover.......about 12 ' tall?
lotta cliffs of dover there
