      Bamboojled absolutely I have to agree! No brand bashing nor hating just a straight and honest video! I still struggle with choosing between these two cameras. I want to go full frame, coming from a Nikon D5500. Not because the D5500 is bad, but low light and DoF is a real thing for me. Saving some money with the D750 (excellent camera and sensor) or invest in the future system with Z6 and mirrorless....struggle is real even though and take the photos not the camera :)

    Thank you so much for this video. I love how you stick to the point and simply presented the performance rather than try to make yourself look smart by explaining the meaning of life and the significance of blah blah blah. Your presentation was very professional and I am definitely subscribing to you. It's so refreshing to hear you talk about autofocus performance of the Z6 compare to D750 in the dark indoor. I think this is the most important aspect of any camera/lens system that takes rigor on the reviewer's part to ascertain. Thank you.

    This is a fantastic review - probably one of the best review videos I've seen on RUclips. So many other reviewers just waste the viewer's time talking about irrelevant nonsense and never really get to the point or have nothing useful to say....or just repeat what they read because they have no actual experience with the product...or, worse, use clickbait titles and exaggerate problems in order to generate more views. Your video was to the point, fast-moving, covered all the most important topics, provided solid evidence, seems well balanced, objective and credible and you have a pleasant presentation style. Well done, sir!! :)

    I recently returned my Z6, It's a good camera, but for a working photographer it adds so much to my routines shooting weddings.I don't need to explain how critical dual slot cards are for a working photographer (won't argue that here). But, while the e viewfinder, full frame focus points, and touchscreen are awesome, having to change my adapter, less than ideal battery life, makes it hard for shooting long weddings. The biggest point however, is that the picture quality in both harsh and low light are identical to my D750 and D500. So, if my photos are identical in quality, I can wait for the second gen Z's with at least dual card slots. I once had a corrupted SD card and forgot to put the second one in my camera for a weeding.. thankfully it happened before Yelp :D. Thanks for the video.

    Excellent review. Well edited and informative. Let's see... there was the N6006, the Coolpix 995, D70 the D200 and D300 followed by the D600, D700 and finally, the D750. Incidentally, the D750 is far and away, the finest camera I've ever had the pure pleasure of owning. That being said, you've done a great job of showing off the features of the Z6 and thereby forcing me to draw an imaginary line between want and need. I certainly don't "need" a Z6 however, "want" is a different story.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  5 лет назад

      Thank you S.E. Kunkle. Yes I agree if you already have a D750, a Z6 would be more a "want" than "need". Some people may still prefer the D750 instead of Z6 for battery/dual card or other reasons

    Slow Motion - Great video! You can get the Z6 to render the video in slow motion in camera by selecting 1080p/24x5 (5 times slow motion). If you use the 120fps option you will have to do it your self in post. The 120fps option gives you sound. The 1080p/24x5 does not record sound.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  5 лет назад

      Yes I have done some comparison. I would say the d750 is better for pros as it allows more way to track your object some more suitable than other for the photo you took, while the z6 uses a more simple design which benefits beginners more as you don't have to learn much about what AF mode/setting you should use. But overall the difference if any is small

    To reduce the flickering, you need a shutter speed that is similar to the frequency of the light. I found that 1/100 works but you have to play with the shutter speed to get the right one depending on the light source

    I have a nikon d5300 and I really want to upgrade to either of these cameras, I'm leaning more towards the Z6 currently due to that viewfinder. I have a prime 50mm 1.8d lens that I can't auto focus on my d5300, and I'm always looking through the live view which eats my battery quickly. I think both of these cameras will be able to auto focus, but the viewfinder + stabilization of the z6 for low light photography seems like exactly what I need. I really can't decide!

Z6 seems good but the IQ is very similar to d750's..I don't see much of an upgrade despite a smaller body and the bright view finder peeking..but traded off with much less battery life and only 1 card...not good for full day events.

      Hi Patrick. I rented a Z6 this week and compared it to my D750 files. For still photography I found the D750 files are amazing sharp as compared to the Z6. I find the Z6 to have less noise over the image but the sensor doesn't record details as well as the D750 and the images from the Z6 actually are smoothed out considerably and the detail is lost in shapes and patterns. The images are smoothed out too much. Detail is lost and also color noise shows up as artifacts throughout the scene in ISOs as low as 10,000. Edges and details are smoothed out considerably in the Z6 making for a less then real effect. I thought I would have been blown away with the images quality and high ISO performance as compared to the D750 but not enough that I wanted to jump out and get one. I love the electronic viewfinder, so much easier to see, image stabilization is great. Autofocus better but I wished the image quality and detail was better. Still on the fence if I will make the change. May stick to my D750s for now.

    nice video as always - great points
    I think many Pros will be waiting for next version of the Z6 and Z7 due to lack of Dual Cards - also some will be waiting on Eye AF
    I suspect both Canon and Nikon will update their FF Mirrorless bodies or all their future bodies will have Dual Cards
    Sony and Panasonic and Fuji for example have produced non Pro bodies under $2000 with Dual Card Slots - I cannot see the extra cost being that much that this feature should be in all bodies above $1500 -
    Sony and Fuji and Panasonic are certainly going to continue -
    so I think Nikon would be smart if they came with an upgrade by Sept 2019 - with Eye AF and Dual Card Slots and some other improvements
    I feel Canon need more - for one they need IBIS - which will be a big upgrade for them - but consumer are now expecting such features - Canon also needs to drop their Touch sliding button
    Sony leads the way - but they need to implement Full Touch LCD and shutter -
    things Panasonic has been doing for some time - and very nicely - will be interesting to see what the Panasonic FF bodies will be like -
    look forward to your next videos

      Not worried about single card slot, not convinced that the number of card failures is as big an issue as it has been made out to be as XQD is proven to be far more reliable than SD cards.
      In 15 years I have never had a card fail either a CF card which I started off using in a Canon 10D and 40D or with SD cards latterly in a Fuji XPro-1 and Nikon D750, maybe I have been lucky.

      Hey Jon, thanks for watching my video again and sharing your thoughts. Nikon will definitely bring out their pro body in a year's time with dual card slot and a pro body design. With a years time for them to do more refinement and improvements, I believe it will be a very capable camera even for all the current Nikon Pro DSLR users. Also agree Canon needs more work to match their competitors. Missing IBIS and sub par video feature/quality (i'm really surprised by how good Z6's video is btw) are two key features the EOS R is lacking behind. I'm really interested in the Panasonic FF body too. The L mount alliance is very exciting thing and I always enjoy shooting with their micro four thirds cameras as they are well designed and output decent photo/video despite the smaller sensor.

  • @touristguy87
    @touristguy87 Год назад +1

    I took these shots from this mark in the movie on out, with a D750 and a Tamron 28-300 VC lens, the "newer" lens not the original VC lens.
    Got it for $200 on eBay last summer, mounted it on my D750 and went out to shoot a golf-course late in the afternoon.
    So what often happens in this situation is that the sun will go down below the trees and it will get dark, too dark to shoot handheld really, in about 20 minutes.
    I can usually work through this by dropping the F# and dialing up the ISO a little. Can underexpose and push shots like this but it is very easy to underexpose them too much so that there's just too much shadow-noise in the shot for it to be of any use.
    ruclips.net/video/ZBZh0Kt-sDc/видео.html
    The lens is already darker and lower in contrast than a Nikon 35-85 or so, just much more glass, so you really have to be careful not to underexpose it *too* much.
    But the D750 AF'ed with it without a problem. In what I think that just about every photographer would say was "darkness".
    I could still make out the contours of the course but usually I can't get good handheld exposures that low & slow.
    The lens and camera knocked it out without a problem.
    The last two shots that I took, at ruclips.net/video/ZBZh0Kt-sDc/видео.html
    the greenside shot there was just black with a relatively-light sky
    and the Par-3
    ruclips.net/video/ZBZh0Kt-sDc/видео.html
    was likewise black with a dark purple sky and streetlights off to the right.
    ...driving from the greenside shot to the par3 tee shot, there really was no light to speak of.
    The bigger problem is to pick a good exposure as -2eV in matrix mode is a good starting-point for such shots, pick a good shutter-speed as 1/2sec is really the handheld limit of the VC on that lens, and from there you're just trying to avoid dialing the ISO up because that will produce noise that is easy to see. It's easy to talk about stability but there's no point in getting the shot stable if it's so noisy that you won't want to look at it. A D610 I might expect to have fluffy AF in low light (or the D300 that it's based on) but not the D750 or the D850. Not if you pick a good AF target.
    So the other issues are the price and the range of compatible lenses. When the Z series knocks 50% or more off the mirror segment of the market? Why would I complain about the Z-series?
    Or any other mfgs desire to make and sell mirrorless cameras? They are still going to be far more expensive and far bigger than my Sony RX100M2. My M4 maybe not so cheap, one cost me $200 (and has Japanese menus on top of that) and the other $400 this time last year. But if you really want to get an "adequate" mirrorless camera there are plenty out there in the 1" diagonal range < $500 on eBay, just as the D610 & D750 were < $500 this time last year on eBay. The only way that you're going to know for sure whether they are *really* good enough for you is to buy them and shoot them. I did decide not to get the D810 based on a dpreview segment in the review that said that it had real trouble AF'ing in low light, so I just got the D850 instead (for $1500 for a well-used one in good physical shape, 150k shots...from Japan). I mean just think about it. Are you buying "new gear" because you need it, or are you buying it because you want it. If you need it then you can justify the price. If you don't need it and you just want it, then it becomes a treasure-hunt to find a good one at a decent price that you can live with. Is it going to make you happy? How are you going to know that until you shoot it?

    Nikon Z series drarwf in comparison to Sony A7 III. Nothing revolutionary with only one card slot and lesser shooting capabilities. with 300 dollar more expensive.
