@@TheMonochromeMemoirs Ha ha! And you still went out of your way to reply, thanks man. I'd actually forgotten why I made that comment so I just watched it again. Now I remember why and I stand by it. You bring up a great argument against high mega-pixel cameras. Though, having a Z 7, couldn't you just decrease the resolution to 25MP when you realize you're going to have lots of files to deal with? Then you can increase the resolution to 45MP whenever you choose to do so, for, let's say, landscapes, macro, ect. If price isn't a factor, I'd say the Z 7 is the best choice.
I have seen a lot of photo related blogs and reviews by youtubers. I think you have among the most objective sound attitude towards photography/equipment. Great job! Thanks for the movies.
Like your outlook on the Nikon Z6 changed my thoughts about buying D850 I Own D810, loads of Nikon Glass from Nikon F5, D1, today Nikon 85mm f1.4 G AF-S Lens. Thinking now on your real world experience as a wedding photographer buying the Z6. Thanks a lot for comments great work on your website. regards Nigel
High megapixel count is the definition of “source of consequential costs” Absolutely love your review man! And this is an old video at this point.. keep at it, subbed to your channel too
Thanks! Your video has been really helpful. I have a D500 and I wanted to upgrade to a Z7. I am not a professional, I only take pictures as a hobby and now I understand a Z6 is what I need. 👍
I don't understand why certain people make a huge deal about file size with z7/d850. My setup handles it just fine. Maybe improve work flow process or something...I don't know. I shot with a d810 for a while before the z7 and have no issues with this.
Well said. People bet so hateful on YT. No need. Your opinion matters cos you are a professional photographer and just giving your opinion should be just fine. Love my Z6, 24mp plenty, getting great images and not filling up my computer.
Like your videos and just started watching, very helpful. I've been a Nikon owner for years but I do appreciate the balance input. I upgraded from D7100 to Z6 and it has been an incredible upgrade, very happy with this choice.
Isn’t it an amazing piece of tech? It had completely revolutionized my shooting and brought the joy back to making images. How long have you had it for? Any gripes?
@@TheMonochromeMemoirs Got my Z6 end of May. I have 2 lenses (kit lens) and then got the Z 14-30mm lens. Lack of bigger zoom native Z lens has been a limitation for sports photography. I assume in 2020 we will see new lens options so I recognize this is a timing thing. I have used an older DSLR 70-300mm lens with FTZ adapter but not sure my photos are alot better than if I used that lens with my D7100. May simply be limitation of what to expect with that lens on Z6. I have been really happy with the upgrade and happy with the Z6. Getting used to the AF has been an adjustment process
We shoot z6ii and z9 for our weddings. My second shooter and video team prefer the z6ii because of the weight, but I get tired of out of focus shots. Good to hear when people tell the truth. We Love the z6ii though.
As far as resolution goes, it's kinda like getting any video resolution above 4K. Look at cameras that are filming Hollywood/Netflix movies and TV shows. There's ones that shoot in like 2.8K (Arri Alexa anyone?). For almost anyone a 24MP camera is gonna be more than useful for almost any use. How many people, even for their wedding photos are blowing things up to any appreciably large format? I doubt that many. Love your honesty in all your videos man. It's not trying to sensationalize anything. Just documenting your true user experience.
One of most realistic views on photograhy, definetly like the comment that you don't need to stick to only one brand forever....I'm long user of Nikon, currently on D750 and I have a possibility to buy Z series, but also looking on Panasonic S series. Comment?
Discovered your vids a couple of days ago. Informative, rooted on experience, lively and unpretentious. This one seals the deal: I am buying a Z6 this week (but also keeping my D850 for the time being).
You are correct about the resolution. 24mp is plenty. Pictures are not looked at from 1 inch away. I have never once looked at a high def movie on my 50 inch tv and thought it was a bit low rez. And slapping your granny means something quite different here in England.
THANK YOU so much for a real-world honest assessment of the Z6 vs. Z7. I want to purchase one, so you have given me cogent and practical reasons to consider the Z6 over the Z7. These cameras are investments in my artistic expression, so careful consideration should be given to a purchase that I will need to live with for several years. I do wedding and event photography, so I appreciate this immensely! KUDOS!!!!
Hi, I'm Eric from the Netherlands and i like your video's about comparing nikon Z6 and Z7. I also have to decide which one suits me better and file size is a real thing. Especially when when you don't have the latest (read fastest) macbook pro. And free advise; don't respond to idiots. Keep up the great work.
Man, i went from two D700's to a Z6. It's a natural upgrade. Ive had 800's in between. too much hassle! Its great to hear someone talking sense. Keep up the good work
I just ordered a Z6 with FTZ adapter. I upgraded from a D7000. If you could only afford 2 native Z lenses for the Z6, which two would you get? I should point out I am not a professional photographer and i shoot mostly street photography, family gatherings and animals. Although I have a lot of Nikon DX glass, they are unfortunately not lenses that will work well with the FTZ adapter. In your lens recommendation please also include 2 good F lenses that will work well with the FTZ adapter.
In regards to the eye auto focus its honestly really nice its biggest flaw is the activation distance and it does at time struggle with tracking movements. People need to understand that it's not gonna be used professionally because its needs to improve on those things more cause as a wedding photographer you cant miss a once in a life time moment cause the camera isnt doing its job.
I have just recently started follow you. And I will certainly do it in the future. The way you just addressed those crazy people is fantastic. That is the way to do it!!
Thank you so much as always for your honest opinion. I’m sure those haters are not as many as ppl who truly appreciates your videos. Just seem that many as those few ppl are voicetrous & most of us that simply click like & become your long term subscribers.
I never cared about eye-AF feeling it was a crutch for beginners who wanted the camera to make their decisions for them in regard to the focal plane. But it is very effective with a portrait session or lifestyle shot. None of them are going to figure out your intended subject but the Nikon version is probably the best version I have seen. The Eye-AF is the only feature that people talk about on the a7xxx being so good and it might be its best feature since it has so many glaring weaknesses, but in use if there are multiple eyes to choose from, it fails completely since it does not give the option to select. I really like the Nikon update, for low light focusing it now beats the great D850, and tracking is so good it can replace the D850 for wildlife and sports. One of the best additions is the Closest Subject Priority that fixes a weakness the same way the D850 did. If a subject is lost from focus or a dominating background was present the Z cameras would jump to the background and not easily reacquirer the subject. Now it prioritizes the nearest subject. Now it is reliable enough to be on the same page as my intent, that whole sessions or events with moving subjects can be shot in AF-C either wide-area or auto-area and have zero missed focus. For anything still, Single point is spectacularly accurate....never fails to amaze me how accurate it is compared to any DSLR made. The D850 is the best DSLR made and it is not as accurate as the Z cameras. But if the subject is still and using very wide apertures for fine art, manual focus is so cool with the excellent Focus peaking function where you can see the focus plane moved across the subject. Other brands have that also but none I have seen comes close to the accuracy of the highlighting. Sony users do not end up using it at all because it is not accurate. I have not tried it on a Canon EOS R yet. I am not a burst shooter so a 12-15 hour wedding(here weddings are short for the ceremony, 30 minutes max and the rest of the time is free form, moving around the city leaving flowers at different monuments or view vantage points without a specific plan and often ends up in parks or another outdoor area before the party trying to stay one step ahead to be in the right position to shoot requires luck and quick thinking) I return to the studio with less than 1000 frames. The Z6 has increased my keeper rate over DSLR. I bought a Z7 first, the Z6 was not out yet. I liked it but my reason to get a mirrorless was for travel and a fun walking-around camera and the serious work was with my D850 and D800. I did not need the giant file sizes for that. 10 Days after getting the Z7 the store got the first Z6 in the city so I arranged to swap it for the Z6 and they gave me the difference in price in lenses, the 50mm 1.8, and 35 1.8 to go with my 24-70 f/4....all very sharp lenses. That was last winter and I had so much fun with the Z6 it was with me all the time and started to use it as the primary camera on portrait sessions and some product sessions if the client did not specify large files sizes. By May the use ratio of Z6 to my DSLRs was about 9:1 or greater. Sometimes I did need high res if the art director insisted. I decided to sell the D850 before it lost its value and get a Z7 to add to the kit and keep the D800 because it was worth more to me than the low price I could get for it on the used market. I loved the D850, all my cameras had battery drips and really was comfortable with the weight and size....until I got used to the Z6 as being a serious camera. Two things that standout, higher keeper rate, and higher availability rate. With the framing so easy to nail in the great EVF, no cropping is needed to get to the final image, and with less post time. Having it with me in a sling bag every day, chance opportunity shots are coming every day whereas the larger DSLRs sit on the shelf waiting for a session. The EVF is reason enough to justify the switch, composing and seeing the settings results before taking the shot means that most shots are nailed in exposure, color, and framing. Seeing settings in the image presented in the EVF is really an advantage, plus in low light, having the option to turn that off and see a light amplified scene makes AF or MF a breeze in very dark scenes. Another advantage of the Z6 is the excellent performance in low light. Up to ISO 102k, it is cleaner, better contrast and detail with better color fidelity than a D5. In FF I do not see a better camera, when build quality, egonomics, focus accuracy, low light performance, card reliability(yes, a single XQD is more reliable than 2 mirrored SD cards) The only downside to the Z cameras is their being so small, they generate less business. When I was low on paid sessions I would take the D800 or 850 out for some pleasure photography to parks or gardens, or architecture since I am in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And a gripped D8x0 camera with large telephoto drew a lot of attention and invariably girls or couples would approach me and ask for photos which I did for fun but most of my paid studio or lifestyle sessions came from people who approached me. With the Z cameras being so small and "unprofessional" looking they don't do that anymore. Now my work is all by referral because those random approaches do not happen. An art director on a product shoot even asked where my real camera was.
Do you remember when a cheap wedding gigs were 1-3 rolls of 36 film ? now people expect 1500 images and you know they will never look or use them for anything
I had a D700, 16-35mm f4 VR, 24-70mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8 VRII & an 85mm f1.8. Sold the lot 3 months ago & bought the Z6 with FTZ, Z 14-30mm f4 S, Z 24-70mm f2.8 S, Z 85mm f1.8 S & F 70-300mm f4.5-5.6E VR. The handling on the D700 was great (an iconic Nikon!) but Nikon have cracked it with the Z6/7! The autofocus needs work by Nikon but I generally only photo static subjects so am not taking wildlife nor sports so the Z6 is still a fabulous camera for me - it’s low light/high ISO performance is stunning! Nikon did a brilliant job on their 1st FF mirrorless (unlike Canon) so let’s hope they can remain in business & catch up with Sony.
If you aren't a youtuber, you should be. I'd rather get an honest opinion from someone (professional), period. My Z6 should be here tomorrow. I would love to be a professional photographer as a side hustle or after retirement. I just don't know how to get my foot in the door. My first camera is a D7500
Hey , thanks for making this video , really loved the way you explained i am currently upgrading from an crop sensor to full frame sensor , i was confused between d850 and Z6 but after watching this video i made the decision of buying Z6 ! Thanks again !
2:55 That's totally correct. Lots of popular channels pop up here on youtube just because they're good at making flashy videos that look good. Whether they have the talent you have (I checked your web site), is another question and most of them are NOT. They want to make popular videos for the ad revenue and maybe also because they like to be popular. I don't get my money from photography or youtube (I work in IT), so I don't really care about any crappy comments I might get because I just delete them and block the kids that come on and make silly hateful comments because they prefer another brand of camera and they felt the need to come to my video and be rude. Anyway, I get many more good compliments (on my photos) than I do bad comments on my low quality videos ;-) Z6 vs Z7...I would have bought the Z6 if it was available before the Z7. I don't 'need' the extra resolution, but the cropping is nice and also using the DX crop mode for more 'reach' with proper framing is nice too...but other than that, I would rather have something like 30 MP.
Great honesty. Subscribed mate. So please tell me if I'm starting from scratch do I go for Z6 or a Sony A7RIII for weddings? Is Z6 good for moving portraits and high speed fashion shoot? Because you said the eye focus sux. 🇦🇺
Hey man, cant stop loving the freaking honestly on you. Finally someone who is NOT selling some shit to gain followers and brand give away. Two Questions man : 1-. How do you feel trusting a wedding on ONE Card memory? I have used D750 for 4 years with dual CARD and I have gone only twice where I am glad I have a dual card. 2-. Do you actually use FX lenses with the adaptor? how is the autofocus in mattr of accuracy and speed? Or you would not recommend using theses lenses and adapters? Thanks again man !
So glad to have you on the channel Daniel and I really appreciate your comment. As for the one card issue I am ok with it right now as I trust XQD more than any other storage method! Once Nikon releases a mirrorless with two card slots I will buy that though. And yes I do use all FX lenses, don’t own any DC stuff. They work great with the adapter, no issues at all. The new S lenses are phenomenal though!
The Monochrome Memoirs thanks man. I appreciate your answer. About the cards, I did not have that on my contract and I think it is a must have. I think my contract is very very basic :/.
I've been in photography for a few years, but just this last year was like a professional photographer, I really appreciate your opinion, 1 week ago I bought my Z6 (also my first full frame camera) thanks to your video about changing the d850 to the z6, not I regret this decision and I am sure I will never do it, thanks for the honesty and for sharing your experience with us
Wow, refreshing! Personally not being a pro or making money on photography my interest is purely pleasure. I have old Leica "m" glass and want to adapt to a full frame and the Z6 or Z5 seem to fit the bill best. What are your thoughts on adapting?
I subscribed to your channel because I just started my photogrpahy career in January of this year (2019) and I was interested in what you had to say. I have always been a Nikon user even before I started shooting Manual. That doesn't mean I would not hesitate to criticize, if it did not help my shots. I agree with you I did a paid maternity shoot and had to do it twice because eye autofocus blurred some of my shots. Keep preaching bother and I will keep watching. I have lots to learn being a 56 year old retired disabled combat veteran, I'm learning from everybody. I want to see a video where you show us how to set our FN buttons like yours. I already copied your autofocus settings. Hoorah!
Great to have you on the channel my friend! I was in the service too (never in combat) so I appreciate the shit out of people like you. I will absolutely make a video on how I set my camera up. Thank you for the support of the channel!!
Do you feel the AF is good enough and I don’t care about the eye AF either. I mean in low light single point just catching right like Nikon DSLR do? To be honest I think the Z7 still has the best file of all the mirrorless cameras out today prob because no low pass filter.
Will... If you keep this up someone might call you Angry Photographer! Lol But in all seriousness you're right. Just because you use a certain brand doesn't mean you should give the brand a free pass if there is something wrong with the camera or gear in your opinion. Now for a question I have heard many D700 users praise it for the colors. Even though I don't do weddings/portraits do you think the D700 would do a good job in color reproduction on a sunset/sunrise scene? Best wishes Duane
Hey man~ Thanks for the video. People suck. Your portfolio is smoking!! Great stuff! This video helped make my decision to switch from the Nikon D750 to the Z6. Keep up the great work.
Thank You for Your video, I was contemplating whether to buy the Z6 or Z7 You along with another video helped Me make the correct choice for Me. I just hope in the future you won’t let the haters or People second guessing your opinions effect your videos. I hear that You were frustrated, but amateurs like me like to hear or see photography content not complaining or ranting. Otherwise your video was great.
Bro came across you why Iwas looking into z6 for my first camera want to start off portrait work . Your 100% right people are nuts they act like they own nikon, sony etc. everything is perfect...keep up true work...
I agree completely. I don't see any reason to think Nikon will just just stop developing and refining eye autofocus? They did an ok job for the first iteration of it.
I really appreciate your review, I just sold my D850 and was planning on getting the Z7 but I may go for the Z6, I'm not a professional but an enthusiast with past pro gigs. Now that I think back of my past cameras, 850' 810, 800, 600 and 7000, my favorites was between the D7000 and D600 (no sensor spots on my version) with lower pixel count, I think I may rent one and test it out!
Addressing folks overreacting to one of your videos was something you needed to do. I think it would have been better as a separate video post though. Enjoying your comments on the Z6. Keep it up.
Thanks so much for the support Janet. I agree I felt like I needed to address the trolls for sure! Anything you’d like to hear me discuss feel free to reach out via email!
I agree man, used auto eye focus for like a hot 3 seconds last night during a ceremony and went right back to single point. All the Nikon and Sony fan boys can say what they want about this gimmick...me as a pro, don’t like it as well. Well said.
Great channel, good insightful observations - I shoot some weddings too, but when I hear you talking about hundreds/thousands of shots, I believe, we have different approaches to shooting. I usually shoot far fewer frames, but my clients are still happy ;-) I use two Fujifilm Xpro-2s and two Nikon D3s DSLRs - to each their own, I guess!
Enjoyed your video as you answered some questions. I’m a canon shooter presently using the 5 d mk iv and wish to transition to the mirrorless R5’s or r6. The R5 is a 45MP sensor ( very similar to the z7) and the r6 is 20 MP. Basicallly the r6 has Canon ‘s flagship ( 1dx. Mk iii) sensor. Both have the same AF which is equivalent to the 1dx mk iii. My question to you, is 20 MP enough? I do a lot of portraits, landscapes, sports and occasional engagements. I also print but nothing bigger than 17x22. Yes I do crop but not excessively as you illustrated in your video. Will the downgrade from 30 MP ( canon 5D mk iv) to 20 MP be very noticeable ?
First, beautiful photos on your site. Great video. This was very helpful for me as I was looking to get into a mirrorless system and have been looking at the Sony's as well, feeling overwhelmed by the choice even just looking at Nikon and Sony. I'm a long time Nikon user, (going back to pro photo work after raising my kid). Just wondering: did you consider the Sonys ever? They apparently have the AF system down... which is the hitch for me. But after watching this video, I'm leaning toward the Z6, so much more economical right now. Bless you and your family!
Great info. Thankyou for sharing. How confident do you feel shooting full weddings with one card slot? Is it even a concern for you. I have invested in two cameras as well with plans to switch but I’m still a little hesitant due to the single slot.
Hey William, Congrats for your anniversary! Hope you guys will have an epic celebration day! I agree 100%. I sold my D850 for a Z6, 4 Months ago and there was't a second i regret that. I just love those mirrorless features what dslr's don't have. Actually I just picked up today a Z7 rental for tomorrow's wedding to see how it performs vs. the Z6. I already did some test shoots and I can tell there is a difference in sharpness and dynamic range with the same lens and same settings, but the file size is double, like you said. In low light Z6 kills the Z7, in buffer also. The rest will se tomorrow... Don't mind those idiot comments, most of them probably does't even know what aperture is. If somebody using a Z6 like we do on full speed and saying the new eye AF is great, than he must have smoked something. I am not saying it's terrible but it needs improvements and 90% of the time is useless on stills. On the other hand, the video capability is amazing. I just came back from a week family trip and we did a tons of wake-boarding and surfing and the video just amazing. The full time AF it's very good, i mean it's firkin cool.I would not be able to do any of those videos with the D850. The pictures came out amazing as well, i did propably 5000 images and i would say 90% of the images are sharp.I am very happy with the Z6 and I would not change to anything. Please keep uploading, you have a great channel Bro!! Thanks for sharing!
Great info man. Love hearing from someone that uses my same camera in a professional setting. I just shot with the z6 all last weekend shooting desert trucks in the desert. My whole camera was caked in dust. Definitely time to clean the sensor. I picked up one of the visible dust sensor cleaning kits, but still afraid to do it haha. Really looking forward to that video. Also, completely agree with your autofocus settings discussed in a previous video and would also love a green box confirmation in AF-C. Patiently waiting for another firmware update as well as the new 70-200 Z. Also thinking about picking up the new 85
Do you have Instagram? I started with D750 and i recently upgraded to a7iii. I love them both. It’s a different way of shooting if you compared them. I notice that I seemed to like more the pictures of the D750. Simply because I slowed down when I take pictures with that camera. It has nothing to do with color or noise. When I use my a7iii for some reason I seemed to rush and my composition turns to crap. Lol
Totally hear that Alexis. Slowing down to focus on the composition brings a whole different layer of satisfaction to the image. Yes I’m on IG @themonochromememoirs and our business IG is @perlaimages which my wife manages!
I had my first event shooting with the z6, i remember your other video, and I’m completely agree with you about the eye af, it’s not reliable. I love the camera.
I’m strongly considering buying the z6 I currently have an Sony A9 and A7iii. I love the 9 because it’s spectacular for sports but the A7iii colors force me to do lots of work in post. I know they had a recent update today is 10/30/19 if I’m correct how is it and would you add this camera. I see these cameras as tools hope to get a reply, thanks for the good work.
When a pro-oriented memory system was developed to meet the needs of pros for years come it was only needed because SD an industry standard is a horrible system, a dumb bus, and fragile cards and exposed contacts and no mapping out of bad memory cells or error detection, the only answer manufacturers had was adding a card slot because, well SD fail, they fail for many reasons but something it is just a transfer problem where to transmission did not detect a dead address or it was just a dirty contact that dropped a few bits. Two slots however only helps when both are reading from different drivers instead of parallel using only a chip-select flag to choose which was the active stream. If one slot fails, usually that means a transfer to the other one fails for the same reason. That bus tech was borrowed from the 1980s 5.25 in floppy drive which was never intended for critical applications. Years later the PCI intelligent bus was developed and used for all sorts of high-reliability data transfers between GPU, or hard drives etc and reliability increased dramatically, that bus kept being updated and the PCIe+ version became a standard for high-reliability network SSD drives. Sandisk, Nikon and Sony got together and created a modern high-reliability card and bus system by adopting PCIe+ as the bus and intelligence and a new high-reliability multi-thread error trapping card that can map out failed cells, detect errors and error correction. This was the XQD and turned over the spec to the Compact Flash consortium to administer. The result has been a card system orders of magnitude higher reliability than 2 SD or even 3 SD cards mirrored. And being much and able to address far more capacity. The new standard is 1, 4 or 8 pipe CFExpress that starts at 1.9gb/s read right over 8 streams, with error correction. The first are 500gb and 1 Terabyte capacity with independent directories so on a single card, a mirrored image can be written or video on one directory or stills raw in another and jpg or multichannel audio instill others. The RUclips gurus who were all up in arms about how bad and unprofessional 1 slot was, showed they were either paid shills promoting limited cameras that only had SD, or they were clueless about the tech and just lied. With later firmware development the Z6 card system is capable of such high bit rates that recording internally 12 bit ProRes Raw video is possible. By next year all cameras that hope to compete will have to have that bus and card socket. Even Sony admits the XQD is vastly superior but, due to cost only put it in their high-end pro video cameras starting at $25,000 ...how many slots? 1. And no video ENG shooters or networks even mention it. They expect the best and are willing to pay for it.
Hi Will, interesting and honest point of view! I have two questions about Z6... did You notice banding with high iso with or without silent shutter? The second question is... when you are with face or eye detection but the camera for some reason can't find the focus if there a possibility to switch instantly to single point maybe with a customized button? thank you!
No problem brother! Glad you’re getting something out of them. 99% of the time I am using single point AF-C with back button AF. Every once in a while I will switch to face tracking if it’s only 1 or 2 people In the frame and I know it’s safe. I think it’s so important that photographers get really really good with single point
@@TheMonochromeMemoirs Appreciate you taking the time to reply. I came over after selling my Sony A7RIII and so I'm getting used to using Nikons again. I previously had a D810 and thought the grass was greener, but it wasn't for me. Thanks again.
Very good channel. According to your assessment, which is the most satisfactory digital camera to shoot in black and white, if there is one. Greetings from Argentina
Came here 4 years later and got my feelings hurt over eye AF. I feel so triggered right now. haha! Always appreciate your videos! Man, I tried going back to a D700 after shooting Z6/Z6ii/Z5, and I just could not. I will always have love for the D700 but it feels so old now in actual use. :(
Was long winded rant but I love it! lmao ... I'm a dedicated Nikon shooter (hobbyist not pro) but I hate ppl whom can't admit when "your brand" misses the mark. If we all just drink the Kool-aid then why would Nikon or any company actually improve anything.
I’m not trusting eye auto focus for critical shots. Fuck that! Slow portraits, maybe. But I’m sticking with single point during the entire day for a wedding.
@@TheMonochromeMemoirs No problem, good work.. I have been toying on the idea of starting a photography channel myself but haven't decided if I want to run two channels. It is a lot of work.

Completely warranted basement troll ass chewing starts immediately.
I would just ignore those comments. I love Nikon and I enjoy it when people tell the truth! I'm with you bro. Keep it honest.

If price isn't a factor, I'd say the Z 7 is the best choice.
can u decrease and increase in settings ?
@@five18audio
Yes, you can decrease the resolution to, I believe, 25 mega-pixels.
Clear and logical reasoning. I had an itch for Z7. Now it stopped. Cheers
michelmond glad this helped!
Great video, I bought myself a NikonZ5
Love my camera so far!

About file size... For Z7 you can set file size to FX format medium (6192x4128 pixels) and you got the size of Z6. Dont see a problem here..
You the man Will!! Thanks for another great video, I agree the eye-af needs work. Keep on keepin it real!
Like your outlook on the Nikon Z6 changed my thoughts about buying D850
I Own D810, loads of Nikon Glass from Nikon F5, D1, today Nikon 85mm f1.4 G AF-S Lens.
Thinking now on your real world experience as a wedding photographer buying the Z6.
Thanks a lot for comments great work on your website.
regards Nigel
Glad it helped Nigel! You’ll love the Z6
Finally someone that has balls to say it like it is. Great channel bro. Love your honesty. Keep it up
Damian Malaczek thank you so much for watching brother
I love how you don't pull punches, unlike those RUclips channels that are afraid of losing subscribers.
mike y yurek numbers definitely don’t matter as much as speaking from the heart my friend!
High megapixel count is the definition of “source of consequential costs”
Absolutely love your review man!
Im trying to decide between the Z6 EOS-R and A73 so channels like this are very helpful to me because I don't sugar coated reviews or information.
I’ve just ordered a Z6 because of you. Thanks man. Your comment is very useful.
Michael Sheng you’re going to love it my friend
KUDOS!!!!
Thanks for REAL reviews!! I’ve learned a lot from your videos!
Thanks for watching Deon!
Thank you very much Eric. Great to have you on the channel! Anything you would like me to cover on the Z6 just let me know
Man, i went from two D700's to a Z6. It's a natural upgrade. Ive had 800's in between. too much hassle! Its great to hear someone talking sense. Keep up the good work
Nice work!! Would you suggest Z7 for landscape work?
Thanks Adam
I just ordered a Z6 with FTZ adapter. I upgraded from a D7000. If you could only afford 2 native Z lenses for the Z6, which two would you get? I should point out I am not a professional photographer and i shoot mostly street photography, family gatherings and animals.
Although I have a lot of Nikon DX glass, they are unfortunately not lenses that will work well with the FTZ adapter.
In your lens recommendation please also include 2 good F lenses that will work well with the FTZ adapter.
Unquestionably the 50 1.8s. It’s absolutely phenomenal
Agree. Good to hear from you Trevor
I'm impress with the honesty of your vids, Thanks keep it real.
Well said. Too many haters on RUclips. Tell them to relax.
You said it brother
In FF I do not see a better camera, when build quality, egonomics, focus accuracy, low light performance, card reliability(yes, a single XQD is more reliable than 2 mirrored SD cards)
The only downside to the Z cameras is their being so small, they generate less business.
Love your honesty - keep it coming! Also love the info on the Z6. Hope to own one some day as all my glass is Nikon.
Thanks for watching Carrie!
I like my Z6, most of what I shoot is real estate. Awesome for difficult lighting situations.
you are awesome..........you saved my money now i will buy another Z6 instead of Z7 after sell out my D850
Love your brutal honesty bro! Great channel 😊👍🏻🤙🏻
Appreciate the support!
Well put my friend. I agree with you 100%.
👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
I agree with everything but chewing out the GFX. its a medium format camera designed (and priced) for niche photographers.
Hey man, cant stop loving the freaking honestly on you. Finally someone who is NOT selling some shit to gain followers and brand give away.
Two Questions man :
I agree with you. RUclipsr vs Real Photographer. Some gadget guy/ tutorial guy had never took a single GOOD photo.
100%
“I am not a f@cking slave to Nikon!!!”
“Yo.....I Love this guy!!!! Tell the truth bro!!!!
***SUBSCRIBED***
Great to have you on the channel my friend!!
I've been in photography for a few years, but just this last year was like a professional photographer, I really appreciate your opinion, 1 week ago I bought my Z6 (also my first full frame camera) thanks to your video about changing the d850 to the z6, not I regret this decision and I am sure I will never do it, thanks for the honesty and for sharing your experience with us
Great videos. I like the no nonsense attitude. For future videos: do you shoot any video at weddings? Is that something people are interested in?
Thank you for the support of the channel!!
just got my z6 last week! no problems with Eye AF for me. I only have manual lenses. Lol. The focus peaking and zoom is a winner!
Ferdinand Manuel love the focus peaking!!
Lol
But in all seriousness you're right.
Best wishes
Duane
You are who you are, ignore the idiots. Love my D700!
Hey man~ Thanks for the video. People suck. Your portfolio is smoking!! Great stuff! This video helped make my decision to switch from the Nikon D750 to the Z6. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much Jonas!
So good to have you on the channel my friend. Anything you would like to learn don’t hesitate to ask!
I agree completely. I don't see any reason to think Nikon will just just stop developing and refining eye autofocus? They did an ok job for the first iteration of it.
Much respect to you my fellow veteran break it down . I love the way you cut the bullshit!
I'd love to see some videos of you shooting events.
You will absolutely love it. It’s a phenomenal camera
I would add that weddings are one of the best tests for a camera, but wildlife photography is even more demanding.
Many thanks for your honest reviews. I appreciate that. Keep up the good work:)
10,000 thumbs up in the first five minutes. Just be yourself brother. I love your videos.
Hey William,
Congrats for your anniversary!
So how did that Z7 compare?
Any update on the z6 ? Is it holding up good ?
Great info man. Love hearing from someone that uses my same camera in a professional setting. I just shot with the z6 all last weekend shooting desert trucks in the desert. My whole camera was caked in dust. Definitely time to clean the sensor. I picked up one of the visible dust sensor cleaning kits, but still afraid to do it haha. Really looking forward to that video. Also, completely agree with your autofocus settings discussed in a previous video and would also love a green box confirmation in AF-C. Patiently waiting for another firmware update as well as the new 70-200 Z. Also thinking about picking up the new 85
I would love for you to talk about adapting lenses. My best lens thus far is the Tamron F2 200. I hope it will work with the z6
I like the B/W look. Also appreciate the advise!
Thanks Bob!
The Monochrome Memoirs thanks guys👍
Love your videos man, you say it how it is, for those wanna be experts behind the computer or phones, kick rocks assholes. This man is the truth!!!!
For a serious amateur would you recommend the z6 over the fugi xt4 or OM 1?
Love how you call it like you see it! Nice job!
Steven Aquilino always!
I had my first event shooting with the z6, i remember your other video, and I’m completely agree with you about the eye af, it’s not reliable. I love the camera.
Hello good point there. What would you do if the up coming Z Nikon you will upgrade is 45 megapixel with 2 slot cards?
Great work btw love the vids
I’m strongly considering buying the z6 I currently have an Sony A9 and A7iii. I love the 9 because it’s spectacular for sports but the A7iii colors force me to do lots of work in post. I know they had a recent update today is 10/30/19 if I’m correct how is it and would you add this camera. I see these cameras as tools hope to get a reply, thanks for the good work.
are dual card slots really an issue? You made a good argument in a previous video that "redundancy" is un-needed.
They expect the best and are willing to pay for it.
i hear ya buddy on the eye focus then switching to single point #RealLifeExperience on a wedding shoot
Hi Will, interesting and honest point of view! I have two questions about Z6... did You notice banding with high iso with or without silent shutter? The second question is... when you are with face or eye detection but the camera for some reason can't find the focus if there a possibility to switch instantly to single point maybe with a customized button? thank you!
The truth always win! Thank You!
Love your videos . Since we're talking about AF what mode do you use to shoot your weddings/working events ? Thank you for your videos .
Yes, wedding anniversary congratulations. (BTW, can't get your IG link to work...)
Thank you!
Business IG is @perlaimages (my wife runs it) and my personal is @themonochromememoirs
I’m not trusting eye auto focus for critical shots. Fuck that! Slow portraits, maybe. But I’m sticking with single point during the entire day for a wedding.
Well said.
One thing I have learned is do not feed the trolls.
Important piece of advice here. People who troll online definitely have personality disorders, never argue with a disabled person
@@TheMonochromeMemoirs I would get the same trolling mama's boys on my channel. Once you give them attention they feed on it.
Kev31779 100% facts. Thanks for watching my friend
@@TheMonochromeMemoirs No problem, good work.. I have been toying on the idea of starting a photography channel myself but haven't decided if I want to run two channels. It is a lot of work.
Kev31779 it really is a ton of work, people definitely don’t understand unless they have a channel. How long have you been on YT?
