  • This video talks about speed in your karate training. Not speed in the sense of how to be faster in your movements, but speed in the sense of how to train using different speeds for the greatest benefit (for example, slowly, half-speed and full-speed). By understanding the importance of training in this manner you will greatly add to your own technical proficiency in your chosen style of karate.

One method I like using is working through kata slow and relaxed, but emphasizing tension at the end of each movement - hold the tension for a second or so, then relax completely into the next movement. Thanks for your channel; it's been very beneficial for me since I train on my own.

I also often train on my own because travel and I want to comment on your insight. I believe you have reached a conclusion here which is central to all forms of karate. That power comes at point of the strike or block rather than the movement itself. I think this is correct but again I sometimes form my own conclusions and I am conscious that I may be mistaken. I must ask my friend who is an advanced black belt Shotokan expert.

OSS Sensei! Thank you so much. I think that it is a great theme about karate, 'cause the basic rules for training include knowlegement in breathning and correct speed in each phase of training.

Oss Sensei, I am one of your fans and I'm watching constantly your postings.
Just wanted to ask you something, I noticed that just before going forward to punch oizuki you move the soil of your front foot by approx. 45 degrees....what do think about this, I used to do the same and still struggling to lose this habit as my Sensei is quoit demanding on this aspect. Do you think that it's such a big issue?
    Thank you!

Thank you for making these instructional videos, when you go full speed and are not hitting a target or other object how do you prevent your elbows from feeling pain? Do you fully straighten your arms or do you leave them only 98% extended?

I'll return back to my shotokan school after 8 years ago, i need my flexible body, my speed , to remeber!
8 years ago no practice , the cause is familial circumstances.
What i have to do first?
    I'll appreciate Ur advice

Hey, sorry I'm not Paul but If I may, just do it, don't over think too much, I was in the same situation, I stopped 16 years ago and got back for 2 and 1/2 years now and I still have to manage my briefing process
The important thing is for you to have fun while doing what you do and learn at the same time
Good luck I hope you enjoy your return

speed and power pulling cause using the inner prefered intension on stability of will and constitution in the whole but the right form is the speed for example in hitting the tiger with power breath run after prefer not if the range was out speed in insurance fore target stress the out breath for seek again not if the kneeling like stage had ranged out some got to speed when follow the inline but the suddenly speed of will don t stresses the pursuit

Always keep a little bit of bend! I'm sure if you've been punching fast with the arm 100% extended you have hurt your elbow like I have!
