They can do a lot more to improve. For example, the cameras, the outer screen size, battery performance. Just because the phone is lighter doesn't make it better, I would rather have it heavier with better cameras and better outer screen and better battery performance.
GREAT video Ben; I'm rocking my Honor Magic V2(can't wait to see the V3) and the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and havent looked back. I don't use a stylus, Samsung Dex so those things don't sway me. Looking forward to seeing the Google Pixel Fold 9 Pro & OnePlus Open 2 📱📱🤳🤳❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
honestly, foldables are so many now I'm just surprised they still haven't made it cheaper. they made it more expensive and is getting more expensive every year. nothing really new just the chip, the design and that's it. the cameras are the same as last years phone its disappointing. glad I got the s24 ultra. if the only attraction is the folding aspect, it would easily get old.
It's true that (in my opinion), the external screen of the Galaxy Fold is still missing 2-3mm of width to be perfect (the same width as an iPhone X/11 Pro), a better main sensor, a 64mp sensor like the OnePlus Open/12 for zoom, and especially 400-500mAh of battery 🔋 capacity, but on the other hand (apart from Huawei/Honor), the size (thickness) of the competitors' photo blocks is really too imposing, almost as thick as the smartphone itself 🤷🏽♂️ Ps: in fact, the form factor of the Fold 6 is currently almost perfect, except that, the internal screen is not 100% safe and you are not immune to unpleasant surprises. The advantage of Folds like the OnePlus Open, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, and especially Honor Magic V2/Huawei Mate X3, is that in case of accidents with the internal screen, you have a completely and normally usable smartphone, and in this, the Honor Magic V2/Huawei Mate X3 is indeed the perfect form factor for Fold. 🙏🏽

@@Labios_Rotos I have both phones and it's better. Much better colour rendering and less aggressive noise reduction at night (which results in much more detail).
@Labios_Rotos yes but I'm not objectively wrong. I'm a professional photographer who *works for Samsung* and the Z Fold 6 is quite literally better. The S23 Ultra is overprocessed while the Z Fold 6 is more neutral. That's a massive improvement.
So for a bit of backstory, last year I bought secondhand everything for Samsung because I was considering switching from Apple but didn't want to fully commit without trying it first. Well, I was satisfied with my first year of secondhand stuff and decided to get all new after Unpacked - ordered myself the Fold 6 and S Pen case, Watch 7, and Buds 3 Pro ($994 after all the promos and tax, Fold 4 trade in). And while all the new stuff about the Fold 6 is nice, and the quality is appreciably better on the Buds 3 Pro vs 2 regular, the real star of the show was upgrading from Watch 4 to 7. Watch 4 has a genuine, actual problem in 2024 - it's just so slow. It's not any slower than last year so I suspect it wasn't much better brand-new. The 7, though? Loads everything almost instantly, just like any modern phone. It's actually a viable option to skip or pause music with my nose while my hands are full, because it doesn't take 5 seconds (not an exaggeration) for the media tile to load.
No S Pen on on the cover screen is a major miss for a "final evolution." They could also easily add the DeX UI on the inner display with a single line of code but they stubbornly refuse to artificially limit the Fold from infringing on the Tab. Those two things would go such a long way to truly making this a "final evolution."
I agree. This is the final form of the original vision. I had the fold 2, then the 4, now the 6, big enough change for me each step of the way. I have said to my non fold friends that they can probably hop on it now, its ready for the mainstream. For me, reduced screen reflectivity, increased battery capacity, MicroSD card slot in that order for Samsung to make me get the next one.
I just tested it at the shop vs my S23 Ultra.. camera on Ultra is like 5x. Better.. i wanted to buy it, if it's at least the same as my 2y.o Ultra but it's far behind.. Z fold 6 shoots like a phone from 2020... What a shame

@@bensgadgetreviews Yes, I know that they house better cameras, But it does not change the fact the the camera islands are ridiculous: they are almost as thick as the unfolded phone which also negatively affect the balance of the phone. Hopefully Oppo/OnePlus will bring the competition to the global market with the Oppo Find N4/ OnePlus Open 2. They manage to reach out to most major market with their last one while giving us the hardware innovation we want to see in foldables. Bonus is their Open Canvas and also still has stylus support.
@nickthaskater Simply better cameras specification, hopefully improvement on the stacked sensors they used previously, maybe weight and thickness reductions which the chinese foldables have done remarkably so far while increasing battery size.
@@ArtemisTsukuyomi paper specs isn't innovation. The camera output of any flagship these days is a crapshoot and purely down to software post processing, not the hardware. I couldn't wait to get rid of my Fold4 so I ordered the Chinese version (everything works except esim and android auto which I don't use, and it's cheaper than global version). It's so hard to type on this narrow screen, and everything looks squished. Really hate this. We keep asking for a normal screen in the front and they don't listen (they went from 5.7cm to 6cm screen which is nothing! The Magic V2/3 is 6.6cm screen width) Please start innovating again, Samsung.
I don't have a foldable but if i need to choose i would choose the previous version of samsung fold because the narrow bar is easy for one handed use in my opinion better than wider and getting 2inch more in the innerscreen
@@nathanvrvrt It's personal preference and depends on how you use your phone but I'm typing on the Fold 4 right now and it's honestly too narrow and isn't a great experience in many apps and websites (it's even more narrow than small phones like the S23!) I wish I could use one of these Chinese phones, but they only work on T Mobile in the US (not ATT). Also the GUI isn’t as good as Samsung’s. I agree that the Huawei and XiaoMi are better though. I still really hate all these gigantic camera bumps. I wish someone would create a phone without such a bump.
techtablets did a whole thing between it an the vivo fold 3 pro... the only thing the vivo didnt have was all the ''AI'' stuff. Other than that the vivo was better all around ESPECIALLY with the camera since the fold 6 uses the fold 4 cameras... again. it was mostly just tweaks on the samsung side with no real change. looking at whats in the xiaomi fold 4... it too looks like another 2x zoom disappointment coming an the xiaomi flip wont have an ultrawide camera so.. there's that
Exactly the same sentiments that I have to make me decide to finally try this version of the foldable. It is indeed a pity that they decided to cut costs with not much camera upgrades, but I could live with that since Xiaomi 14Ultra is my go-to camera phone now.
Samsung is pushing AI/software side much more than hardware. It'll be cheaper for them in the long run. I hope they upgrade the battery size and improved cameras in the next iteration of the Fold.
@nickthaskater it is much better than previrus folds, the screen is wider than it seems on paper. I had a hard time typing on the outer screens on my fold 3/4/5
Hello Ben, nice review, I also tried the demo of F6 here in HK and found the corner very inchy when holding it on the left hand, and it's not the case in F4 without the case!

One thing that is missing in Samsung's AI that is very important to most of us is the webpage reading. A lot of us only want to listen to the the AI as it reads to us. That is why I live in Canada but I ordered the Oppo Reno 12 Pro even though I have the S24 Ultra
Having played around with the Fold 6 and Flip 6 just recently, I can honestly say in terms of hardware (hinge, overall polished feel of the device), it really is top notch. The hinge does feel really good opening and closing and the fact that it can maintain almost any angle you want from 0-180 degrees which no other foldable can do is pretty damn amazing. But I agree, they really need to start showing some new innovation since they are seen as the world leader in foldables, the Chinese OEM's are starting to make them look pretty bad with the kind of innovation we've been seeing from them in the last couple of years. For the majority of US buyers though, the Z Fold is still the de facto foldable on the market and not only have most not heard of many of the Chinese alternatives, they won't go out of their way to import one to use here in place of a locally supported and guaranteed option and the same can be said for many EU users in the same boat where a Chinese foldable isn't available at your nearest retailer.
Samsung's One UI is still the best OS out of all foldables. Period. This alone makes me stay with Samsung. And the candy bar look of the Fold 6? Slick af. If they make a windows laptop with this design, I'll throw all my money at that.
The principal deal-breaker, and why it will only be a niche product compared to the 1.3 billion candy bar phones sold this year, is the price, which remains ridiculous, especially outside the US deals (trade-ins) around £2000 ($2600). If it was a halo product, with, say, a 5500mAh battery, four premium cameras, and a wider front display, making both user-friendly and with an s-pen in-device with support for the front display, then maybe I would think about it. But in its current iteration, it is awful value in the UK and only viable for those who can afford the cost or are diehard foldable fans who buy Samsung every year. The advantage is that even if new on eBay, the price falls to its equilibrium even before release, and if you have cash, you can buy new ones for £1200, maybe less. Evident of the usual precautions with third-party auctions. However, supply and demand in an open market indicate true worth, and £1200 suggests that those in the UK paying retail prices are getting a raw deal. I have seen the Fold5 for
The ai features and the fact that you can resize the horizontal windows to finer degrees. Otherwise this device is outdated at launch. The camera is pathetic at this stage for the price, and the battery changing speed is unaceptable as well. The Year and half old Huawei Mate x5 is superior in these respects by far. Not to mention that is is a bigger outside screen and is probably more durable.
In dispaly Camera is a crap. With this price range it should offer better specs and quality. I want a foldable with very good camera, with build in s pen and thinner vessels.. I love the design, probably the most elegant as of date, but not worth it. I think samsung just released this phone for the sake of releasing something. Probably by purpose…
@@nickthaskater I use several different phones as a developer and All Chinese phones easily charge at 60W or more, no bs. Samsung simply does not have real competition so they don't have to try hard enough.

So you're always forced to open the bigger screen if you want to watch a quick video or type or do anything serious.. that's just my experience though and you might like it 🤷🏻♂️
The Honor has better zoom but not better main cameras.
The narrow coverscreen is a positive.
I wish I could use one of these Chinese phones, but they only work on T Mobile in the US (not ATT). Also the GUI isn’t as good as Samsung’s. I agree that the Huawei and XiaoMi are better though. I still really hate all these gigantic camera bumps. I wish someone would create a phone without such a bump.
Foldables/rollables need to be 9 inch or more when unfolded
Btw Honor Magic V3 does support pen support on both screens 😊
The Cam remains Crap after all the Evolutions
Yes..correctly said..
Those who say that cant afford it
Iphone user right there, knows nothing about android
Tell me you've never used the Fold 5 or 6 camera without telling me.
@aerogen1738 the zoom isn't even close...thats the folds weak point. Everything else yeah it's close. And I have both s24 ultra and Fold 5/6
The price is too steep ,but why not 5000mah , 45watt charging? I keep carry oppo find N3 still until Honor magic V3 next🎉
Fold 6 best foldable for me 🔥🔥🔥
techtablets did a whole thing between it an the vivo fold 3 pro... the only thing the vivo didnt have was all the ''AI'' stuff. Other than that the vivo was better all around ESPECIALLY with the camera since the fold 6 uses the fold 4 cameras... again. it was mostly just tweaks on the samsung side with no real change. looking at whats in the xiaomi fold 4... it too looks like another 2x zoom disappointment coming an the xiaomi flip wont have an ultrawide camera so.. there's that
It's a nice improvement but I love my Vivo X Fold 3 Pro!
Exactly the same sentiments that I have to make me decide to finally try this version of the foldable. It is indeed a pity that they decided to cut costs with not much camera upgrades, but I could live with that since Xiaomi 14Ultra is my go-to camera phone now.
Frienza Final Form Fold...but camera, battery & charging needs upgrades.
wait for the Z Fold 6 Ultra
Samsung is pushing AI/software side much more than hardware. It'll be cheaper for them in the long run. I hope they upgrade the battery size and improved cameras in the next iteration of the Fold.
Waiting for your honor v3 video
Soon
Samsung desperately needs to put a bigger battery and improve the charging speeds for their next Fold.
Final evolution? The crease is still there and the camera.....
Hi, I want to ask the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 device if using the external screen is easy to type on as well
It's great for one-handed typing.
@nickthaskater it is much better than previrus folds, the screen is wider than it seems on paper. I had a hard time typing on the outer screens on my fold 3/4/5
Im skipp fold6.
Waiting for Honor V3😂😂
good reviews, thanks . however i see no reason anyone to buy Samsung, after seeing the Xaiomi fold 4
Hello Ben, nice review, I also tried the demo of F6 here in HK and found the corner very inchy when holding it on the left hand, and it's not the case in F4 without the case!
I want vivo de with Samsung ecosystem.
Wish my open had the AI thing so i could mess with my aunts an uncles an send them pictures of them selfs with random animals an insects just to confuse them like when did i take that picture 😂...so many ppl are going to flex with the AI ...your not goin to be able to trust your friends an family
Hey Ben what’s the pen you are using? Same for Fold 5? I can’t find with the Samsungs’s website the pen for 6
Samsung's One UI is still the best OS out of all foldables. Period. This alone makes me stay with Samsung. And the candy bar look of the Fold 6? Slick af. If they make a windows laptop with this design, I'll throw all my money at that.
Yeah if you're talking about software I agree. Hardware? Nope
are you kidding ???? That crease and small cover screen. Forgot it small battery no what 1800
Not yet final for me not until it is ip68 dust and water resistant
I have seen the Fold5 for
So the fold 6 or oneplus open..?
I couldn't watch it because I was blinded the crease
Dont you mean the Galaxy Z Fold 2ssss?
Final form, but it’s not over 9000!!! I hope the Vivo foldable is out for global…
The problem with the phone is it only have 4400 mAh. If it has 5000 mAh then i'll buy it right away.
I was on board too. But the fold 6 is just too less for too much.
Fair
My honor magic v2 Globe version, way better in many ways.
Watching this on the Fold 6
As someone who had every iteration since Fold2 - I wish the 6 was a bit taller, like Fold 3
Xiaomi Fold 4 just came out and this can’t even touch it. 25W charging only? Hahaha
@@nickthaskater I use several different phones as a developer and All Chinese phones easily charge at 60W or more, no bs. Samsung simply does not have real competition so they don't have to try hard enough.
People talk about the camera as if they use pro mode all the time. The normal user just presses snap and moves on. It's not a big deal.
Speak for yourself I shoot damn good pics with vivo and xiaomi flagships that I can't get with iPhone or Samsung phones. Cause I shoot using telephoto lens which has better focal length
Z fold 4
Aslo k70 ultra as well and ur quite slow as compared to other Chinese RUclipsrs
hi boss we can talk for 1 month butfor me its a scandal...same low charge battery 4.400 ridiculus same hinge same camera....
Why does Samsung always make mobile phones with the same boring design? See how the camera module design of Xiaomi and many Chinese phones is🥱
