I don't like what it loses for the sake of a slightly wider outer screen. Samsung never intended for the cover display to be a primary work surface...never. So this looks like a conflicted device. No S pen, ugly punch hole on the big screen, bigger in the hand. Meh.
All they did was widen the outer screen and make it a bit thinner, very disappointed in it. Was hoping for the wider outer screen yes but also major camera upgrades all around especially the crappy zoom lense. And they ditched Spen support...so stupid. I love Samsung but they continue to underwhelm us.
Not really. Spen is huge fail. Battery must be bigger, Noone cares about it's being .5mm thinner or thicker. Also whre the hectic is telescopic lens ? So this is like fold 7 beta at very best. Also... they are making this phone for 4/5 years, how it still cost so much ? R&D already paid off a while.ago
WOW! Shane, I WANT TO BE LIKE YOU WHEN I GROW UP! You're the only RUclipsr I'VE SEEN WHO ACTUALLY SHOWS US WHAT WE WANT TO KNOW! For example, SHOWED US THE DIFF BETWEEN THE GAP ON FOLD4 VS FOLD6 SE! ALSO, I've been wanting someone, ANYONE TO ACTUALLY SHOW US THE Keyboard on the front Screen of the SE! YOUR PROFESSIONAL HAS INSPIRED ME TO MAKE BETTER VIDS, THANK YOU!
I don’t get why users would need a camera in the inner/main display. Give us am full screen, no cut outs. If user need a camera fold the phone and use the cover display
I imported one into the US when they came out but ended up selling it. The idea of no support if it broke was too scary. I'm hoping this form-factor is what the Fold 7 will be. I loved it.
Everything is going to be the same on the plus as the Ultra case video I made with the exception of the plus keyboard case not having backlit keys and a smaller trackpad
Just give us everything we want in 1 package Samsung... Give us this with Spen support on BOTH front and inner screen... Under Display Camera ... Bring back the IR Blaster (Other folding phones have got it). Its always something missing for Samsung...
A foldable phone should be the size (width & height) of a regular smartphone PERIOD. Anything less is a problem. The only thing I hate about my Fold 5 is that it's too narrow when folded. I have sworn to NOT buy a Samsung Fold until they increase the folded size to that of regular phone. People with fairly large hands like me SUFFER on the folded Folds. I want a regular smartphone when folded and a small tablet when opened - that is the value proposition for me.
Finally something for us note people, but then they missed the mark with no S pen function. However, the market out here in the world does have fine point touch stylus now and that might work for writing and drawing but it won't have the remote function. Samsung WHY?????? Excellent review. Thanks for buying it!
Compare the regular Z Fold 6 with the Special Edition in the following way to see if it is really good: open RUclips on the Home tab and with the phone open in landscape position. On the regular Z Fold 6, the thumbs are tiny, and force me to exit landscape mode
SE is a nice fold - an improved Fold 6 (that is a fantastic phone already). However, to get a bigger internal screen I would prefer to see a 3 fold phone instead of an improved screen ratio 2 fold.
Am i the only one who likes the original Fold 6? The thinner and smaller outer display makes the phone easier to handle and use, especially one handed with the thinner outer display. Making the outer display wider and taller like literally any other foldable on the market now would just make it another 'plus' size phone that happens to open up into a mini tablet. The smaller outer display is what everyone complains about but it is the one thing that distinguishes it. Unfortunately thats not the market wants, which also explains the abysmal demand for a small phone.
I prefer the under display front camera looks cleaner.I hope fold 7 looks like this but with thinner bezels. If they have to save cost they could cut down on height but width should be significantly increased.
Does rcs messaging work on the SE? I can't get it to work. Also I get 5g but my speeds aren't as good as I've gotten on the vivo x fold 3 pro and honor magic v3 here in the US
@MarcoTooFly I'm a Samsung guy at heart so I'm a little biased, I'd put Z Fold SE #1 because of software and overall user experience, X fold 3 #2 and Honor Magic V3 #3. The vivo and honor have better 5g support in the US though. They get fast speeds. The z Fold SE doesn't get the fast data speeds but has been very reliable and don't notice any difference compared to the others in day to day usage. I'm using T-Mobile
All the Fold and flip are not covered by the warranty for the screen from Samsung, they will last for around 16 months and then in the rubbish, new screen cost 1k in Australia
Please answer this question 'cause I can see you connected to Wifi when you turn off your wifi does it connect to the 5G towers on my fold device it shows 5G on the top right corner cause I heard the new one since it's imported it only connects to the 4G towers please confirm this for me So on the top right corner does it show 5G or does it just show LT E
I like the size, that battery life is the only thing that bugs me. I am not as pressed about the lack of spen support, but for the price it should have it. Hopefully, we get this next year but that price point is too high.
No S pen support is a deal breaker for me, you have all that screen real state and can't get the most out of it, specially for the price, I was planning on getting the newest Z fold that will launch this year, but if they remove the s pen from that one as well I guess I'll buy the 6th gen instead(would be cheaper at that point too)
I'm curious to see what they do moving forward considering the Fold 6 not being extremely well received due to sizing. I could see them making this Special Edition the smaller size and come out with an even larger model (tri fold? Rollable foldable?) In the long term but for next year I can definitely envision a 7 & 7 Ultra like you said
I also agree with others that if they can't make the inner selfie cam as good as the folded one, they should just get rid of it - it's absolutely useless!
I would rather not have a paper slim device for one hand outer display if it means killing spen support and smaller battery. The majority, despite a large audience welcoming the silimer device, would be okay to compromise slimness if it means getting an s24 ultra than expands into tab s10 mini.
$3,000 is total bullshit for a phone... You need your head examined to even consider it. I owned the Fold 4 for a while and enjoyed it but after 6 months the weight and the limited battery life made me say goodbye. The OnePlus 12 16/512 RAM & memory I replaced it with that offers nearly unlimited battery life, superior camera & display plus high quality build is so much more desirable.
On a fold 5 and the battery is nearly unlimited as literally has 2 batteries not sure your complaint plus you probably had high brightness and refresh rate at max, there's more to it than what your clearly stating. and while I do understand 3 thousand is crazy for a phone, he explicitly mentioned he bought it from a THIRD PARTY SELLER so this clearly isn't the true release price. All new flagship phones will be inherently expensive and everyone knows this. So please quit dropping misinformed comments because you are clearly not tech savvy.
Lots of cheap yet good Samsung folds available right now (3,4,5). Theres always some risk taking a chance on older folding displays and unknown usage from second hand devices but the few hundred you'd pay is well worth the experience rather than waiting for the current best to depreciate
I love my Fold 6 but when typing on the outer screen I become a typo demi-god lol I'll probably upgrade to the Fold 7 if it is linear to 6 Special Edition
Inner camera and price is ridicilous! I'm happy with my Zfold 6 that I got new for 900€. It shouldnt be more than 1000€ in reality. Only camera is pretty bad for its price.
I still wish they outer display was still wider its still on the narrow side it looks weird and doesn't feel like a traditional smartphone. It looks like older Sony xperia's phone. Sony finally learned their lesson and ditched the 21:9 and went to 19.5:9.

80% of my version on the next Fold
I've been using it for a week and it's my favorite fold so far!

Thankfully this is what the fold 7 will be 🙏 But available in the U.S.
Not if you depend on the s-pen. I'll stick with the 6 until they get the stylus working.
As a fold 6 owner, I'm gonna say this is a slap in the face from Samsung...
Nope. It's an update that came out 6 months later.
Al tuyo le funciona el spen
Why?
@ljacobs357 nah you got to stop defending them. This was weak from samsung, they did something apple would do

First time in a while, a Samsung Galaxy with charging brick and case in the box with the cable, manual, and phone.

Keep that ratio or just copy S24+/Ultra
Remove the camera of the inner display
