I have three of these (left - Amaran P60C, right - Amaran 200X with Dome SE, center - Rode NTG). I regularly adjust them all up/down, left/right, and lengths. They can handle those weights fully extended (noting I went with the lighter Dome SE toward weight concerns). However, you are correct that the plastics are truly week points. Ironically, the one that popped at the plastic was the center mount holding only the mic. I erroneously thought I had the tensions proper to simply manipulate it up and down without loosening/retightening every time. I replaced it with same model (where I love getting rid of tripods and getting cables out of the way). If they come out with an all metal, I will upgrade only if these pop too. But with a little care, I’m not sure it would even be necessary!
