NO ONE screams like Kotono, it's chilling every time, she's just amazing. I wish her lines from the S finale had been included. It's a shame that the episodes she missed were the really intense emotional ones.

Tracey Moore was the best ever for the dub. it's such a shame that she didn't do the whole series. She actually sounds like she's putting her heart into her work just like Kotono did/does.
Yeah, I was also sad to not have Tracey in all of the DiC and Cloverway dub episodes. Her voice fit the character much better than Terri and Linda.
My fav is Stephanie but I feel like Tracey fits best second because she at least sounds younger
She was a very hard working voice actress, and unfortunately the reason she left was she preferred quality over quantity. ADR Director Nicole Thuault preferred one takes when recording the dub wanting to speed up the process, while Tracey preferred multiple takes and choosing the best take possible. Their differences is why she left. I like the DiC dub, but it needed better time management, budget to really improve its flaws.
I LIKE LINDA A LOT, because her voice was cracking, and it made Serena way more believable as a young girl who was growing and changing, because Linda was there for Serenas 15th 🎂 birthday which was a MAJOR CHANGE in the story, but it was a MAJOR DISASTER, but it ended happily...or did it?????

Linda Ballantyne is so talented and I appreciate her for her contributions to the show so much, but I think she was just miscast as Serena. Her voice was just too deep and that isn't her fault. She would have made an amazing Luna.
The funny thing is that because of the deepness of her voice, she actually made for a fantastic Princess/Neo Queen Serenity

Blame Nichole for that. She wanted Linda to emulate Terri’s yodeling and she said “fuck it” and created her own interpretation as the dub progressed.

I really like Linda's voice, it's too old sounding but it's earnest and not too ear grating she was natural at capturing the character and she was really good as Princess Serenity

Kotono Mitsuishi as Usagi's voice is unique and irreplaceable. In the English version I think the best voice is Stephanie Sheh because her voice sounds sweet and funny at the same time as Usagi is supposed to be.
I really like Terri's voice for Serena. I don't usually like English dubbed, but there's something about her tone that I like.

@『Viking Princess』I mean It is, but it was my perspective as a 11 year old kid, now a days I can appreciate what she did for the character she brought life to usagi in her own way. Was just saying the voice change had major shock factor, after the show revival. Which in turn at the time made me want to throw my tv out the window 🤷 until my ears warmed up to her.😅

Tracey Moore- She actually sounds like a teenager, and for some reason her voice sounds adorable, to bad she only voiced the character for 20 something episodes, She's one of my favourite English voice actresses.
Terri Hawkes- Ugh...Nostalgia got way to far for her, She sounds like a teen to but she sounds a bit annoying, that's just my opinion.
Linda Ballantaye- Please don't kill me for this but I didn't think she did that bad, She didn't sound that bad, and some of you are in my opinion, are so dense, Yes, She has a forced Hawkes impression but think about it, it put a strain on her voice, I can't imagine how painful it was for her, and the rush of the show with not many retakes, that was bullcrap, so in conclusion she didn't do that bad.
Stephanie Sheh- She is a great fit for Usagi in my opinion, She one of my other favourite English voice actresses.
I am also sad that Tracey Moore didn't do the whole Sailor Moon series in DiC and Cloverway, but we are still grateful that Stephanie Sheh was available to do the whole series in the Viz dub.

Can't agree more! But if Tracey hadn't stopped voicing Serena/Usagi, she'd probably be the best English VA 'cause she sounds like a teen. Terri didn't do that bad, she made Serena/Usagi quirky and funny, but she sounded to old imo. Linda is a good VA, but she doesn't work well as Usagi/Serena (not to mention she had terrible conditions/scripts to work with). The only things she did well was humor and Neo-Queen/Princess Serenity voices. Stephanie is perfect as Usagi and sounds like a 14-year-old. the only thing she could do better is having power in her attacks and transformation phrases.

All of these Women will forever be, “Sailor Moon” to me. Like, none of them can be replaced. They all are our Princess. Through her growing in the English. To her through and through in the original dub. Terri will always hold a place in my heart; but all of these beautiful Women will hold the title of, “The Sailor Moon” for me, period. They all brought her to life.
Honestly, as a hater of the DiC dub, I think Tracey Moore's voice fits Usagi pretty well. It's a shame that she had to work with a butchered script, because she brings plentyof energy to the character. Terri Hawkes' accent isn't fitting, and Linda Ballantyne's voice is WAY too mature and quivery, she makes Usagi sound like a 45 year old woman. Linda has a nice sincerity to her voice though, you can tell she's giving it her all. Props to Stephanie Sheh too, she's doing a great job; her voice has that high pitch that Usagi needs, but it doesn't ever get too shrill or annoying.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I absolutely love Terri Hawkes' performances. People may say she's annoying and her voice doesn't fit Sailor Moon, but I absolutely disagree. Her voice is low enough so that listening to Usagi's crying and yelling isn't so fucking painful (I forgot just how much she cries holy shit), and the improvisational sounds she makes when Usagi spazzes out in anime-like fashion is what makes Usagi more likeable to me in a goofy manner. Sure, she may not have sounded like 14 year old, but to be honest, (no offense to Takeuchi) but none of the inner senshi looked like 14 year olds; they looked 15-18 tops. So her voice actually fitted her in my honest opinion. It was a shame that she was replaced season 3 and onwards, because honestly, I'm considering buying dvds of the original DiC dub to introduce my lover to the series.

I liked Terri Hawkes the most. I thought she had great acting range as Sailormoon and when I was younger, I thought she sounded sexy lol. Terri, to me, made Sailormoon age 16 as opposed to 14 but, that's irrelevant. Honestly, I like everyone except Linda lol. Linda makes Sailormoon sound like a 45 year old suburban housewife. Her command voice is cool though.

I like both Tracey and Terri; at times their voices are indistinguishable, imo. I think I'm more accustomed to Terri; she has a slight but distinct inflection. But Tracey sounds a bit more youthful and girlish, which I appreciate. Super nostalgic either way!

Bunny was also used in the first Russian dub of Seasons 1-3, then they finally adopted Usagi.

1. Kotono Mitsuishi: The voice fits Sailor Moon perfectly!!! Especially the original, the screams, the emotions, anything applied are perfect! She will always be Sailor Moon!
2. Kae Araki: Her voice is so high-pitched, it was much better fit for Chibiusa, but the emotional scenes she did were fantastic!
English:
1. Terri Hawkes: This is the best English actress for Sailor Moon, no matter what! The voice just fits Usagi so well, and the nostalgia with that voice is amazing!!!
2. Stephanie Sheh: Her voice was also great! Her voice acting on Usagi fits well, but I think Terri was better with her Sailor Moon counterpart. Otherwise, she did fantastic!
3. Tracey Moore: She does sound similar to Terri Hawkes, but she still does a pretty good job.
4. Linda Ballantyne: Her voice sounds too deep for Usagi, even though she would be an amazing Luna! However, her voice acting on Princess Serenity is actually really breathtaking!

I grew up with the wonderful voices of Tracey Moore and Terri Hawkes, but I knew in my heart of hearts that Stephanie Sheh was the perfect choice to take on my favorite heroine from my childhood, and she nailed it in spades. ❤️🌙

Kotono will always be a classic, her voice still captures Usagi perfectly even after so many years. Kae did an exceptional job matched Kotono, only fitting she'd later voice Chibiusa.
Stephanie wins for English, hands down. Best voice, fits Usagi's personality, translates well from Kotono's performance. Wouldn't have it any other way. Wasn't fond of the older dubs, so I can't say much for Terri and Linda, but they tried.
Stephanie - she's perfect for the part. She sounds young and whiny but also sweet and fiesty, and everything Usagi SM is supposed to be.
Tracey (I like Stephanie better but Tracey is a very close second)
Terri (She was funny and a good actress, but she sounded a bit old for a 14 year old. If Usagi was supposed to be closer to 25 I'd like her better for the role.

She was really annoying for most of season 1, but I feel like she really improved and got more comfortable as the show's been progressing. You can tell the difference if you listen to her in season 1 vs the newest episode Viz dubbed.

Kotono did...not age very much in 20 years. Terri and Tracey are both sooo fitting to Sailor Moon, they're so adorable. Linda has the type of voice as the other two, but it sounded way faker and weirder. She sounds extremely cartoony. She's too mature and raspy in serious bits but she's too silly in humorous bits. I wish that Terri could have come back for the new dub, the new Sailor Moon is probably the voice I like the least out of the main 5 in the redub.
FF: the reason why Kae had to fill in for usagifor a little bit was cause Kotono had come down with an illness for a while. After episode 50 she came back strong.
Orginal Serena's vocie is by Terri Hawkes. She really have that very beautiful innocent voice for Neo Queen Serenity and Serena.
I mean if you think about it. She has that ascent like her Mom (Queen Serenity).

Kae Araki is so underrated, she sounds just like Kotono! People wouldn't even notice a difference if they weren't told Kae voiced Usagi for the last 7 episodes of season one. She did some incredible acting in the emotional scenes. She can portray that erratic, hyper Usagi, as well as the devastated and vulnerable Usagi 🙏🏻 Kae Araki is the legit second voice of Sailor Moon. ❤️

Stephanie is basically Tracey's tone and depth of voice with Terri's acting Style and it's honestly a perfect mix
That’s a beautiful analogy to my favorite actresses, it’s the reason why I had a lot of faith in her when I found out about her casting.
I heard her as Hinata Hyūga in Naruto, Orihime Inoue in Bleach and Kyrie from Devil May Cry 4 years prior so I had a lot of confidence in her, and she met my hopes and expectations wonderfully. 😊❤️
.... she's okay. Just hate how she yells the transformation phrases and attacks, it sounds strained and the crying scenes sounds forced too. She sounds much better in Crystal/Eternal (eventually Cosmos Arc too), maybe because Crystal largely has nothing but Japanese to compare with, but otherwise she's okay outside of physically yelling. Although even as Orihime she sounded more natural......
I wish you where even close to being right she has good moments but its just not as close at all to any of the english or japanese, shehs gutteral yell reminds me of ash ketchum she doesnt have the range that the japanese VA had which should be a Red flag from the start
I am a Terri Hawkes lover up and down everyday of the year. But I have to say, I do believe Linda Ballantyne did an incredible job with Princess Serenity. I think she would have done a better job voicing Neo Queen Serenity in the later season 2 episodes. And that’s coming from a Terri is the best of all time fan!

I'm not going to talk about the Japanese VA's, because it's the original 😉 I'm just going to rate my favourite English VA's.
1. Stephanie - She's the closest sounding to the original.
2. Tracey - Such a shame she only did a few episodes, she did a great Serena!
3. Terri - She's OK. I'm honestly not a huge fan of her voice, and I don't understand why everyone loves her the most.
4. Linda - Ugh. OK, SOMETIMES she sounds good (only really during catchphrases and power calls etc.) She's a good actress, but she doesn't make a good Usagi (Serena)
I get that, but a lot of people tend to love Terri because of Nostalgia. I didn't grow up watching Sailor Moon, so my personal opinions are based on the voices themselves for the character and I'm not biased. I'm not saying you are, but most people are.
Agreed, Tai Shenron. To be fair, I do slightly prefer Moore's performance to Hawkes', but Hawkes brought a leadership quality to the role which was essential and unmatched. When she said she would triumph over evil, there was not only the confidence of a hero, but the assurance of a leader to bring determination to her followers. Hawkes sounded like a boss.
By contrast, neither Ballantyne nor Sheh ever give me the impression of someone who has authority.
I listened to the original dubs and quickly remembered why I never bothered to watch. Steph is the reason why I'm hooked on sailor moon now.

Linda was always my favorite voice growing up, and Kotono since I watch the sub more than dub.
I liked Linda, I know it isn’t the greatest voice acting but I just enjoy her voice.
same, I like to think her take on Serena sounds like an uppity teenager thinking their a grown up who knows best. Terri and Tracey are a bit like that shallow "valley girl" archetype in the voice but with a heart to it. Stephanie Sheh is good... but it just feels she's there because she's a dead on english voice match for the Japanese VA's... Plus Linda's got drunk Serena down to a tee, she OWNS that scene hands down...
Kae Araki is surprisingly good for a temporary replacement, Kotono just nails it in every aspect though.
For English versions, none of the others will get in Stephanie Sheh's level

I think her voice fits Usagi Tsukino the best out of the four English dub actors, and I also like that the Viz dub follows the actual English translation of the original Japanese script much more closely. I know Stephanie Sheh is a talented voice actress because she her real voice is much, much lower, yet she does a very organic job of playing a high voice for Usagi. It is really cool that she got to voice Usagi for all 200 episodes. Kitono Mitushi came very close with 193, but I guess she had scheduling conflicts or had something else going on in her life that cause her to miss 7 episodes. February 11, 2021, 1:30am
I don't know where Kitono Mitsuishi was missing for 7 episodes, but Kae Maraki did an excellent job of copying her voice when she was away. I know she was great because I hear no different in their voices. February 11, 2021, 1:24am

I will agree her voice is good at being a teen. I love Terri but her voice fits me of an older character like a 20 to 30 year old. Both are good but I prefer Terri.
I like the other voices and I really like Linda's voice as Serena but Terri Hawkes is who I grew up with and her voice will be my favorite
I always wondered why in season 2 Usagi sounded different she's voice by Kae Araki who later voices chibiusa although at first i didn't think so ^^;
i honestly didnt noticed when i watch them but now watching these clips i hear it now. Its more chibiusa than Usagi (which is ironic now lol)
Well the reason why is because Kotono Mitsuishi had to get her appendix out so they had to get a temporary voice actress for Usagi until Kotono Mitsuishi recovered from it.

I think the Stephanie Sheh was the best even though I listened to JP first. I'll give Terri some slack though.
1) Kotono (Cheesy and dramatic when it counts, sensitive and sweet, as Usagi should be)
2) Tracey (She had great comedic timing, although I think she never got to shine during the dramatic parts of SM, I loved her technique when differentiating SM and Serena)
3) Terri and Stephanie (Terri is great for the role but sometimes her voice is a bit too old and she hams some lines a BIT much to take seriously. I like Stephanie but her voice can sound a bit high pitched and it sounds like she's doing an impression of Kotono, her voice is also a bit too squeaky. I think she does a good job but she's the opposite of Terri, in the sense she lacks freedom with the role and has a more disciplined take, but Terri's loose interpretation)
4) Linda (She works sometimes but sounds..oddly like she's from the South? Too many voice cracks. There are some funny moments though as her.)
