Terri Hawkes!! Probably because I grew up in the 90s
Yes terri
Yep grew up with Terri
I grew up with Linda, who was also the 90s 😅
Rhaegar Targaryen YEA!!!!!
Forever Terri Hawkes but I love Stephanie Sheh and Tracey Moore too so probably in that order. Linda I did not like at all when I was a kid or now. Sorry Linda fans, no harm done. Just a preference.
Linda's voice is the reason why I didn't watch all seasons she did. I just rewatch the first 2 seasons.
Bruh not to hate but seriously her voice is this: ~~~~~
Her voice is cool tho, don't hate her
I actually liked Linda’s voice especially on Sailor Moon S
Yup
꧁꧂ᴠɪᴋɪɴɢ ᴘʀɪɴᴄᴇss꧁꧂ Middle aged?
Terrier Hawkes is not only THEEEE voice of Sailor Moon... she’s one of the greatest voice actresses of all time!
Terri Hawkes Voiced Sailor Moon in the anime movies like Christopher Reeve Portrayed Superman in the Movies and Helen Slater Portrayed Supergirl from 1984 Movie Spin-off with Red Boots and Blonde Hair, he was Interviewed on Wogan on BBC1 between February 1984 and December 1989 and She was Interviewed on Channel 4 in 1988
She first voice in sailor moon i hear
I feel like THE voice would be Linda since she was there the longest lol
@@KingOfGaymes Linda came in AFTER the legacy was built. And most of what she dubbed was in syndication. It didn’t make the light of day. Yeah, she’s not THE voice of the character by a long mile.
KingOfGaymes, what are you smoking or sniffing? Linda makes the character sound like a grandmother for crying out loud.
I love Tracy Moore and Terri Hawkes!
Same i love them both they sound the best
Ikr !!! ♡♡♡
Agreee
They’re my favorite I also like Stephanie
I also hate Linda she sound like a grandma who's in problems
i feel like terri hawkes is the most iconic voice for serena i like it a lot. i'll say tracey is a close second because she sounds a lot like an actual fourteen year old. :)
agreed! Agreed those two are like Sailormoon. But the New Sailormoon - Sailormoon Crystal is horrible voice actress for Sailormoon. She don't even look good for Sailormoon, asian or hawaiian. it dont do us sailorfans justice.
I love her voice it's really the best
Why was Usagi’s name Serena BEFORE? I’m a NEW sailor moon fan & started watching the show on HULU but what’s with all the changes? Like the whole new script version of the English DUB & why did they change her name??
Yes i like the first one best
@@huerta0920 it was directed to young children of American audiences, and of course, America had a more sensitive view of things in the 90’s. they end up changing their names as English ones, at least ones that had similar syllables to their Japanese names, try to make it direct and appropriate with young audiences, using different music, stashing away any Japanese wording or culture In sight ( for cultural appropriation? But they just Americanized it for the sake of it’s audiences, so may not be the other), and censorship. While it did bring popularity of the franchise as one of the most memorable anime kids end up seeing, the dub during those times were very sensitive on subjects and how it might imply or be viewed due to North American views of the time. A few names in the 90’s dub kept some original names, like rei, and close enough name like Mina. I can see why the 90’s dub won’t entirely follow up to today’s audience with controversial subjects like lacking LGBTQ representation between haruka and michiru ( leading the, to only incest), censoring certain scenes, hiding away scrapped episodes ( like the rebellion fortune telling and beach episodes since they weren’t appropriate.) and Japanese culture, also how the episodes don’t seem accurate to the original Japanese script on how the episodes follow, making it more goofy and sometimes out fo place. It has highs and lows, but if you prefer accurate and a respected dub to the anime, go ahead with viz, if you want to give a try out for the 90’s than take your pick!
Ahhhh when I hear Terri Hawkes, it gives me such nostalgia, I could cry. Her voice will always be how I think of Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon will always be my very favorite show and something that has brought me endless happiness throughout my life. Got a giant hip tattoo this past year of the crisis heart crystal, roses for the 4 main scouts and forget-me-nots💕
Yeah I wonder why the editing for that second seasons of Sailor Moon 🌙 the English Dubs on DIC was kinda lame 😒 but Terrie Hawkes was one of the bestest people who have ever voiced Sailor Moon and Neo Queen Serenity. 😂😅😊❤
Traci Moore was good in the very beginning. I liked how she differntiated her voice between Serena and Sailor Moon. Terri Hawkes, however, is the best. She gave the character so much energy, vivacity, and such a believable emotional wavelength. When she laughed, you laughed. When she cried, you cried with her. At first, I hated Linda Ballantyne's attempt to mimic Hawkes' voice. But in time, she became more comfortable and confident in the role, and made it her own. Stephanie Sheh's voice ... I simply cannot stomach. She sounds like she inhaled a helium balloon, and is letting it out while pinching her nostrils closed.
+Rodimus75 Amen
+Lyric Ailove Yup
+Rodimus75 IKR!
+Rodimus75 Amen i Support you Moon Buddy T^T speak the truth
+Ilan Mcdonald Hell yeah bro!
This is important. My favorites were the first two voice actresses. It was a shock when they suddenly changed Serena's voice after the show came on Toonami.
Terri Hawkes is nostalgia at its best
Ashlee Scales Stephanie is?
Linda’s voice is the one i grew up on so hearing her makes me feel all warm and nostalgic
Tracey really hits the nail on the head with her spunk, especially during the fight scenes.
tracey moore HAS A GREAT VOICE. It sounds young, cheerful, ditzy,
Best one easily
Stephanie is how I vision her sounding in the manga, since I only really read the manga
Terri Hawkes is my favorite sailor moon voice
I love her omg she has the best sailor moon voice
I think Stephanie Sheh and Tracey Moore were better voices. Partly due to the fact that I didn't really pay attention to the series until Viz started re-dubbing it. Plus, I heard enough of Stephanie's higher pitched voiced characters to be used to it.
+TMX1138 The if thats the case watch the original series and then the new redub then you will have the full view of all the moons.
I'm currently working on dub comparison videos of the first 4 seasons, where I have both the original dub and the new dub playing simultaneously. That's where I hear the original dub.
Because i was a huge fan as a child but forgot the series as i grew up. one day i remember the show name and watched it all over again. the old dubbed brought back so much memories and made me fall in love with the series all over again. and now till this very day i am a hardcore fan.
I liked stephanie the most
I like Stephines voice best
Terri Hawkes, call me biased, but I liked the 90's dub. I grew up watching it and it was easier to relate to the english names and songs.
risinggundam2005 I agree.
anime fantasy123 I don't think that is what she meant. The dic dub incorporated a lot of familiar cultural references. And just experiencing those things is comforting. It's still great to soak in the Japanese culture of the original anime. And you can appreciate it as a work of art. But the dic dub has strong emotional ties to those that grew up in that time. And I like the dic dub names too. Both are good. I think it has more to do with what we consider feminine or masculine names. Serena is more obviously feminine than Usagi for Americans.
Me too
Same
I totally agree!
I love Terri's voice the most.
I also loved the 90s music they had just for the show!
I still listen to it on RUclips
I love Stephanie
Terri Hawkes all the way!!!! Also could you do the same for the rest of the Sailors
Deadass
Tracey, Stephanie, Terri. Those are the best in my opinion. Linda, though she tried, makes me cringe everytime I hear it!
I Agree!
@Sailor Toyz Usa You can sit through it but I can’t.
Agreed
Though I barely watched the series, and only know it by video clips on RUclips, Linda sounds like someone’s grandmother to me. That said, *is* it just me, or do anyone else agree?
Stephanie is incredible!! Looks like I need to watch Crystal
she also did the dub for Usagi in the Viz Dub of the original anime as well, all 200 episodes and movies too.
Stephanie's was perfect 😍
Terri Hawkes was the voice I first heard when I started the series. Tracey Moore is a very close second. I can appreciate Tracey's voice as the "younger" version of Sailor Moon, because she just started and the voice fit the stage the character was in. Terri was Sailor Moon to me and it's the voice I remember when ever I think of the character.
Stephanie sheh version of sailor moon actually sounds like a 14 year old girl
I agree!
they all did in my opinion
she also sounds identical to every other generic anime character..... no personality
I feel more that way for Tracey Moore but ok
You really think so?
Stephanie Sheh's voice fits really good with Sailor Moon! not just with Crystal but she is apart of the viz media dub which is the best in my opinion
Here's my two cents:
Tracey Moore: Imo she did the best job in terms of covering the heroic side of Sailor Moon out everyone. Every time I heard her say Moon Prism Power! She said it with such intensity along with the DIC music. When I was a kid every time I heard her yell those words, I knew shit was about to go down.
Terri Hawkes: Imo she did the best job in terms of covering the spunky, humorous, friendly, and carefree side of Sailor Moon/and Usagi.
Linda Ballantyne: I'm sorry but out of the four she is my least favorite. She had some good moments here and there but imo I don't think her voice was a good fit for neither character Sailor Moon or Usagi.
Stephanie Sheh: I'm sorry, I love Stephanie Sheh as much as the next guy, and I get they were trying to match the original voice, but everytime I hear her as Usagi/Sailor Moon I hear Orihime. As a result I can't see her as that character as it feels like she uses the same voice or at least one similar to her.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hears Orihime when Stephanie talks. I'm fine if she didn't want to even try sounding like the original but don't sound like a previous character you've done before. You're a voice actor, your job is to be able to sound like multiple different people. I'll be sticking to the subs because I cringe every time I hear her speak. Her voice in itself isn't bad, don't get me wrong, it's just not Sailor Moon.
I hear yui from k-on 😂
Agreed! Stephanie Sheh and Linda Ballantyne are both fantastic voice actresses but they just don't fit Sailor moon. I think Stephanie Sheh suits SM in Crystal perfectly though, since it's a much different feel.
@@ChristinePi No, that’s not their job. Their job is that breathe life into characters and that’s what she did.
This. This is facts and this is correct. I wish they could make a vocaloid of Tracey and Terri's voices and redub all of sailormoon over again with those two
When I first heard Linda's sailormoon, I was like what the fuccck.
Linda Ballatyne. I’m sorry, but I’m super obsessed with Sailor Moon S right now and Linda makes me laugh every time I hear her voice! 😂😂😂
IK
It's terrible - I can't watch dub after season 2 lol
Stephanie Sheh; hands down.
I like them all, but I developed a new appreciation for Linda Ballantyne after I watched the S season finale dub back in the day. She did a beautiful job, and I was thoroughly impressed by how much raw emotion she put into my favorite episode.
i love terri hawks and linda ballantyne. I know people tend to flame on linda for her voice but she's so underrated (she really does put a lot of emotion into it!)
Both Tracey and Terri did an amazing job.
Terri Hawkes of course Terri is the best Sailor Moon
Tina Napier She sure is! And Linda did a pretty good job too.
+MoonCollectibles You tell them sister!!!!!!!!!!!
Tina Napier Agreed! Her Serena was PERFECT!
Facts my favorite voices of Sailor Moon was Tracey Moore and Terri Hawkes i love them both they both sound so good like deadass
I agree all the way!!!!
Linda bellantyne would have to be my favorite because she's the one I grew up with. Terri Hawkes being my second. For longest time I never knew Sailor Moon had different voices until I rewatched the show when I was older.
Sheh actually sounds like she could pass for 14, so I have to give her the top spot in my book. That said, I think Cihi does a lovely job singing.
No. Stephanie sounds forced. Shes trying to sound too cute a lot of the time.
@@GeteMachineshe's the best out of them all.
i think Tracey moore was the best when i was little :>
Yea
Tracey Moore and Stephanie Sheh
+Guyver Zoanoid But thats the only reason she was hired for the part sadly. also before the first episode air she didnt even knew of the seris ;(
Terri Hawkes was my all time favorite Sailor Moon and when they changed her voice out I was actually devastated! XD
I'd have to say Stephanie Sheh is the best Usagi with Tracey Moore and Terri Hawkes tying for a close second. Tracey, because she made "Serena" sound more like an actual teenager, and Terri, because she gave her more personality. But Stephanie is also voicing Usagi in the new Viz dub of the original Sailor Moon, not just in Crystal.
Dj D. so many people are trashing Stephanies. she sounds like a true teen
wait wait wait...The original sailor moon(1990's) is getting redubbed? so all the voice actors will be the same for every episode this time around? lololol
I agree
@@carllipsey1497 They are those annoying nostalgia glasses wearing fans that can't accept the 90s dub was broken.
@@RC30018 Like, I want them to still take the 90s dub seriously after watching it today.
Stephanie is the best, but I also like Terri only because of nostalgia.
Linda definitely portrayed how much of a nut Usagi is whether people like it or not lolz
I'm sorry but in my opinion, Linda makes usagi sound like a middle aged mom despite the fact she's just fourteen!!
Linda sounds like miss frizzle on magic school bus
Alabanza Idk, she was the worst 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Alec Nychole Francisco That’s what I was thinking too
She sounds like she's a 47 year old library XD
Tracey and Terri both had the perfect voices for sailor moon! ♥️♥️ Forever my favourite anime
I really like Tracey Moore. I would have liked the opportunity to hear her act with a proper script as in the new dub
I am sure she would have been terrific with well-written, well-translated material.
I love Terri Hawkes she captured the character well didn't sound like a mimic of the japanese voice and gave usagi/serena a great english personality and voicing
Terri Hawkes is my mostly favorite of course!
+Ryu Lee me too
She is also the one I love the most
I also like Linda ballantyne
true, I love Terri hawkes
Ryu Lee Terri was PERFECT!!
Tracy and then Terri. Linda's VA frightens me 😭
I'm sticking with the cast from 1995. :P
Thatwitchgirl Agreed. 😍
STEPHANIE'S VOICE IS FUCKING OSCAR WINNING. I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!!!
I grew up with the Spanish Latin American dub, so I don't really have a bias for the English voices, but for me the one who sounds better for Usagi is definitely Stephanie Sheh, she sounds younger and more similar to the original and from the old dub I think Terri Hawkes is the best. I don't understand why they changed the voice so many times. In Spanish we had the same voices in the cast from season 1 to 5 (except for Darien who had two voice actors). Even now for Sailor Moon Crystal most of the voices are the same from the 90's dub except for Sailor Jupiter.
Although I grew up off of Tracey Moore, I just really like Stephanie's voice better. Linda was the absolute worst. But if VIZ had of kept Tracey's voice with their dialouge, I would have been satisfied with that too.
Tracey Moore and stephanie sheh are the best with usagi's voice acting :)
For a first dub Tracy and Terri were really good. But I still love Stephanie's Sailor Moon
Happy Birthday Tracey Moore. I love Sailor Moon. It is awesome. Love u Tracey Moore. May the Peace be with u Sailor Moon. From Harlingen Texas. January 17, 1960
January 17, 2022 through January 17, 3022
My vote:
Tracy Moore: She did a pretty good as the first to be cast as Sailor moon! She sounded like an actual teenager, and honestly I didn’t notice she wasn’t Terri at first since both of them sound very similar at first, since I was pretty young to even notice their slight differences in voice! She brought in a lot of charm long before she left the role.
Terri Hawkes: She’s the true iconic voice for Sailor moon! I adore how much she gave into her role! She’s just the number one voice that just automatically makes me think of her! She brought out a lot of energy and personality to her! While it did get a bit more goofy and awkward in certain moments, she brought a lot of life to Usagi with such a unique voice that really fits her! So she’s my top favourite.
Linda Ballantine: she’s not a lot of people’s favourable voice, and I do agree, she can get a bit rough and scratchy, almost sounding older than the actual character herself, Though, Linda is a nice women, and felt like she’s been miss-cast for her role. She did a pretty good job as queen serenity and how she got comfortable at the end without having to mimick Terri’s voice, which makes me wonder if her throat ever gotten sore when trying to yell or getting that specific pitch? I say she’s okay, there’s charm put into it, though the clover way dub definitely casted some questionable choices for the characters.
Stephanie sheh: To be honest, I’m not really a fan of her voice. She just sounds little too annoying to me, which sometimes becomes jarring to watch the original viz dub, though I know she’s chosen to be close to the Japanese voice and follow the actual scripts more accurately to the show. Stephanie is a good actor for some of her other well known roles, and the voice is within her own range, but not very preferable, but she’s also okay since it shows us all episodes of original dialogue with all completed seasons of the original and so far the reboot. She definitely puts effort to the role, I just wish I’d liked it a bit better if the voice alone didn’t have it’s moments of annoyance and agony.
This is how I viewed each actor who were given usagi’s role, everyone can prefer any favourite actor if they want. Either you prefer Stephanie or Terri it’s all good to me, Linda May of been a downer to instantly drop the series after season 2 because of her old lady voice, and Tracey didn’t last long due to some video recording problems I believe. But this vote among the actors only shows how it represents usagi’s personality in a fitting matter of both voice direction and emotion, Terri brought in some emotion and often brings out how expressive she is to me! While in the recent dub, Stephanie can end up being too high pitched and a little bit more grating to hear her voice, but she does give a decent portrayal on how she inflicts Usagi’s more caring traits and moments of more fitting emotion that neither the DIC or clover way dub did. since they made the show to be more goofy for the children and sometimes make it out of place, so you can say the dub is more faithful than the controversial 90’s one. But they all weigh positives and negatives for each actor, so this is just my input towards each one!
Tracey and Terri sounds so much alike I had no idea they were two different people. But defiantly these two should’ve been hired for all the seasons
Meanwhile Linda sounds like an old lady, *possibly* someone’s grandmother.
I love Tracey and Terri. ♥ Tracey really deserves more credit, its a shame she was only in a handful of episodes.
To me, all the VIZ voices sound very "generic anime" and overly squeaky. :/ It's such a shame that we can't have the quality and variety (and music score) of the DIC cast with the content-authenticity of the original Japanese.
Yes I completely agree!
I miss the voice actors and the normal American names they had in the '90s.
I really tried to like the Viz version but it's not as emotionally intense or funny.
Plus it doesn't have the music from the 90s that I loved in the original English dub.
The only thing I like about the Viz version is that I get to see all the scenes and words that were left out of the original English dub
@@beautiful_waters2224 I disagree about the Americanization of Japanese culture in general. After playing video games and watching dubbed anime series in the early 90s, I'd rather they kept their original intentions instead of substituting/renaming them with other cultures'.
The ''this is to better suit their target Western audience'' bullshit is why people hate on 4Kids/4K Media for what they did to anime for the past 2+ decades they exist. Another example of such hate was when ATLUS USA, fresh starting to localize their parent company's games, did a crap job with the original Persona 1 game on the PS1 because they had to ''Americanize'' the game for the game to sell in the West. People hated that English version they had to wait almost a full decade for ATLUS USA to give a proper localization that kept its Japanese setting and culture intact in SMT Persona on the PSP.
English localizations and dubbings have vastly improve over time in the West, so at least they learned from their mistakes and continue to deliver quality work WITHOUT having to ''Americanize'' the fuck out of them again.
As for Sailor Moon... the new dub is much better than the older ones cause at least they kept the original cultures and meanings of the Japanese version, albeit with minor tweaks to sound a bit better in English.
Same goes for the musical score: the Japanese score is much better than the American one(s) because again, it fits the show better than the generic sound of the old American dubs.
Thanks for your effort to share your compilation on voice
stephanie sheh because i was one of the very few people who didn’t grow up with the overly censored 90s version and because she sounds more like a 14 year old and more western version of usagi than the other ones do
Terri Hawkes is and will always be my all-time favorite
Stephanie Sheh
Happy Birthday Terri Hawkes. I love Sailor Moon. UR beautiful, Serena is beautiful as Sailor Moon. I love Stephanie Sheh. She's my second favorite actress. Love u Terri Hawkes. May the Peace be with u Sailor Moon. From Harlingen Texas. January 31, 1958
January 31, 2022 through January 31, 3022
For me, Hawkes is on another level, she brought an insane amount of personality and depth to Serena.
Her acting iQ is off the charts, I'm actually thinking of checking out her other work just to hear her.
I think watching the original 90s dub, rather than seeing the actresses as separate for who's overall better; that each is a stage in Usagi/Serena's life. Tracey is the beginning when she was still a naive girl who was first starting out as a Sailor, Terri is her as the midstage having become used to her mission while being more snarky and Linda is the fully matured stage, having a more womanly voice of having undergone the growth of the first two arcs, while retaining the silliness of the character. Personally, I prefer Linda out of the three, she has this Shelley Calene-Black-esque voice to her that brings a guilty enjoyment to the voice overall.
As for Stephanie Sheh, it's best to view as very decent, but separate take from the first three, while combining elements of the three into her own interpretation.
i really like terri and tracey...those are the ones i grew up with :)
Your videos are great.
When I remember sailor moon, I remember terri hawkes’ voice! It makes me sad that all of the sailor moon videos I have from childhood are on vhs and I no longer have a vhs player, and while I recently found sailor moon on Hulu, it’s the 2014 dub!!! Ugh makes me so sad 😭
Everyone from the DiC/Cloverway dub! Not just because I grew up in the 90's but because the voice actors truly brought the characters to life. All the other dubs fail in comparison (except for Veronica Taylor as Sailor Pluto in the Viz media dub...she's the only non-DiC/Cloverway Sailor Moon voice actor I like).
Kotono Mitsuishi 😕
These are the English dubs
For me it's Terri and Stephanie.
I'm so glad they picked Stephanie for the Viz dub because if they had stuck to the originals 90s cast, they would of of course aged :L so it wouldn't work??
I don't see who could fit the role any better than what Stephanie did. (OR PERHAPS CHRISTINA VEE, CAUSE I LOVE HER)
But, here both sound so bubbly and cute, but also overly dramatic like Usagi.
I love them both!!!
As someone who grew up on the 90s version I can honestly say Stephanie was born for this role
Everyone has their own preference, but Terri Hawkes sounds pretty amazing/epic when using SM's attacks/transformations!
After Tracey she just gets so much more goofy sounding.
Then it all resets at Stephanie.
Terri hawkes for sure ❤️ favorite English adaption from the 90s
Tracey Moore also voiced Emily in the US dub of Thomas and Friends from season 7-12
I've never heard Stephanie sheh as sailor moon and I thought she did okay but Terri hawkes is still my favorite
Terri Hawkes was my absolute favorite 😭💖
Terri Hawkes, Linda Ballantyne & Tracey Moore FTW!
When I first watched Sailor moon I was introduced to the dub that Stephanie Sheh voice acted in. And I have not been able to find any of the old dubs
Stephanie and Terri are the best.
This might be sacrilege, but here's my order in keeping as close to the Japanese dub as possible.
1. Stephanie Sheh- A lot of people dislike her high pitched take on Sailor Moon. However, she absolutely nails "Usagi" in English. "Serena" was almost a different character with all the changes the dub made. Great comedic timing too.
2. Tracey Moore- Really liked her! The original voice of the DIC dub, she played it much closer to the original version than her successors in the DIC dub. Shame she left.
3. Terri Hawkes- The one most people are familiar with. She changed Sailor Moon more into a valley girl with her accent and a lot of "Clueless" talk which was popular at the time. Love or hate it, her performance definitely stood out. Her yell was... unique.
4. Linda Ballantyne- Poor Linda... She had the misfortune of being part of 2 very rushed seasons. This led to a pretty flat performance and a LOT of cringe worthy takes. Also, she LITERALLY speaks like someone told her "you're royalty, but you're clumsy. Go!".
Linda was also the one that sounded least like a teen compared to the Serena/Usagi voices that came before and after. Like I only saw clips of her performances but, while I’m sure she had moments to shine, it just wasn’t up to par.
They really all did a good job imitating each other, nobody felt wrong in the role back then
Terri hawkes! Duh!!
Exactly
Terri Hawkes for sure. Her voice is so soothing to listen too and she doesn't have to try hard at all to force it to work as Serena, it's just her normal every day voice! The emotions she brings out in her character brings tears to my eyes like no other voice actor can, but at the same time she can have me dying laughing from the ranges she's able to meet lol! I was very upset when she left the show to have her babies! Lol!
Couldnt tell the difference between Terri and Tracey. They sound similar enough that the transition was seamless
When did the change happen?
Terri was the absolute BEST - such passion and authenticity in her voice. A true talent! linda did a great job too; honestly didn't even realize it wasn't Terri anymore for a while. I think girl who does the new voice for Crystal is TERRIBLE, so whiny and no character to it, they should've hired Terri or Linda back!!!
MJG991 Yeah!
MJG991 yeah Stephanie’s voice is really annoying... no offense to her. It’s not even immature like Usagi, just ear bleeding...
I met Miss Linda Ballantyne at Tampa Bay Comic Con 2017 dressed as Sailor Moon and she complimented my Sailor Moon cosplay. I was so shy and nervous when I met Miss Linda and I told her how much I love the series and own 12 volumes of the manga along with some DVDs. She even liked my red 1970 style go-go boots that I wore with my cosplay.
Stephanie Sheh 💛💛
my favourite is TRACEY MOORE
I actually LOVE Linda's SM.
Tracey Moore was the only one out of the four--minus the singing voice--that gave this role justice. I was born in 1992 and I didn't get into the series until I hit second grade. Back then I appreciated the series for what it was and did not care about the voice acting. I also had little access to the series as it slowly faded away from cable, VHS, and DVD around 2004. When the 20th Anniversary came along, the series was accessible again but when I listened to the voices, especially Usagi's, I could see why the 90's dub did not get a lot of love from some fans.
I noticed that everyone's second favorite, is the new voice, Stephanie Sheh. To be honest, I feel like her voice is too high-pitched even for a fourteen-year-old. I mean Hayden Panettiere was in her early teens when she did the voice for Kairi in the first Kingdom Hearts game. And the role was done very well since Hayden and Kairi are close in age. So if the company/studio had an age-appropriate voice actress for Usagi or directed Stephanie to ease up on the high pitch, maybe I would appreciate this more.
Terri Hawkes, brings some much with her voice. sounds very unique, it's so quirky it fits perfectly with her personality
All of these are equally great voices despite their flaws, but in all honesty, the Viz Media Dub is the one I love the most, mainly because of how it actually stays true to the original Japanese dub without having to change anything.
@Sailor Moon oh please, the DiC and Cloverway dubs changed so much. Removal of Japanese writing and or traditional Japenese elements. Changing the genders of Zoisite and Haruka, so to censor the homosexual relationships in the show. Plus saying Haruka and Michiru were cousins as well like BRUH. Renaming the characters, but the rename that annoys me the most is renaming Mamoru to fucking DARIEN. How the FUCK do you see "Mamoru" and think "Darien"? Who is even called Darien in the first place? The Viz Dub didn't skip episodes, unlike DiC and Cloverway. Heck the Sailor Stars arc wasn't even dubbed until the Viz dub. Usagi sounds more like an actual teenage girl in the Viz Dub, unlike Linda's one which is just...*shivers*. Plus the DiC and Cloverway dubs americanised the hell out of the show, so ew. People say they like the original dub better because "nOsTalGiA". Nostalgia is not a good enough fucking reason to claim it's the better dub, it's clearly not. Plus listening to Luna's voice in particular, is just soul crushing. They just took out everything that made the show what it is and left only the bare-bones outline remaining, the DiC and Cloverway dubs were absolute garbage and its about time people started recognising that.
@Sailor Moon yeah i'll stick with the more faithful to Japanese instead of americanised crap thanks
Terri Hawkes will always be my favorite
Terri's voice is definitely what I imagine when I think of Sailor Moon lol
Tracey Moore and Terri Hawkes is the best.
Tracy is definitely my favorite!! Her voice sounds so pretty and reminds me of Pokémon for some reason which is more nostalgic for me.. tbh I don’t really like any of the others
Tracey and Stephanie are both good because they both sound like a 14 y/o. But my choice goes to Stephanie for the direction she was given and sticking to the OG script. Tracey had such high potential if only the directors stuck to the OG script and gave her better direction.
TERRI HAWKES SHES ICONIC!
I like the first two mainly for nostalgic reasons.....
I’m rewatching the first season of Sailor Moon now as an adult, and something I never noticed as a kid that is completely obvious to me now is the change in voice actors in episode 12. I didn’t have a preference as a kid, but now I must say I prefer Tracey Moore. She captured the childlike quality of Serena’s voice (she is, after all, 14 years old), and also did an excellent job changing her vocal tone as Sailor Moon. And just on a personal level, I do not like Terri Hawkes voice and her inflection (harsh “r” pronunciation, my grandma also talks like this). She makes Serena sound much, much older and more mature. I highly prefer the quality of Tracey’s voice.
Terri Hawkes hands down in terms of line delivery and performance.
Terri is my fave because she really interprets the script and her dynamism is perfect for anime.
