Your soul is MINE! Shang Tsung is back, and luckily, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is also back to give him his likeness and voice, which is just the best casting decision in the game. Once I do one for Jax, and a bonus for Jacqui and MAYBE Skarlet (I have one done, but it's extremely one sided) Kombat Time will take a bit of break. So more variety will eventually be on it's way.

Still with the Shang Chi movie coming up Marvel might correct it with Tagawa in the role.

Exactly...no disrespect to the guy that voice shang tsung in mk9 but Cary-hiroyuki tagawa is legendary and You soul is mine! No one can say it better then him.

Facts
All the other voices of Shang Tsung are cheesy and overacted, but Cary-Hiroyuki's performance is perfect. He's calm, quiet, and legitimately intimidating, and he sounds real.
To quote the man himself: YOUR SOUL IS MINE!

Cary's calm sultry voice is truly what makes it work. It's so sinister.
Shang Tsung won't be Shang Tsung if weren't for Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa.
They traced every single detail in Tagawa's face to make the Shang Tsung model! It is so perfect!
Not that anyone would believe me, but I was the voice of Shang Tsung in MK:SM.
Weird thing is, I did only half of it. There was another person at Midway who did some of the lines. I was also the voice of Shujinko, Shang Tsung and Onaga in MK: Deception. We weren't outside talent. Voiceover stuff was primarily done from within. It was always fun when Steve Beran or another sound person would stick their head in your office and say, "Hey! Do you have a couple minutes to do some screams?".

As great as Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa was in the original Mk movie, the performance he put on in Mk 11 was absolutely fantastic.

I think everyone has already established that Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is the definitive Shang Tsung, but even though he's absolutely amazing in the movie and in MK11, his performance in the story of MK11 Aftermath further solidifies it. You can just tell he's relishing in every line of dialogue Shang Tsung has and is just having the time of his life with the role. He not only is so perfect for Shang Tsung, but his performance is just so passionate: you can tell he absolutely loves playing him.
Long story short, in MK terms: Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa WINS! *_FLAWLESS VICTORY!_*

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa wins as best live action Shang-Tsung, and best Shang-Tsung voice. Andrew and Jim are the only ones to come close in terms of voice, and no one is better in live action.
Bruce Locke in live action is pretty damn good.
Why there are so many "uknown voice actors"? Midway was really bad at getting the credits right lol. BTW Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa is THE Shang Tsung.

Tagawa just has that natural evil demeanor looming from behind him. As if he can command the apocalypse at will. It's so good, and his acting in the film was spot on!

Watching these voice comparison videos reminds me of just how many things the Mortal Kombat movie got right; $500 sunglasses, Aussie Kano, and of course Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.
Truly awesome how many movie tributes/references they put in the game, like Kano being full-on Aussie and of course Shang Tsung being played by (and having the likeness of) his actor from over 25 years ago.

Max Crawford is the voice of Shang Tsung from deception to shaolin monks, so pretty much the guy that played shujinko
Max Crawford was the voice actor who played him in Shoalin Monkshe also plays Shujinko
My favourite voice for Shang Tsung is Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, not only has he played him several times, live action and as a voice over, but he also has my favourite voice in general and gives Shang Tsung A bit of charm and charisma. However when he needs too he can be threatening and fierce.

Van Dagylon which means if they did another Mortal Kombat movie it would make perfect sense to use him cause Tsung appears in both a youthful and elderly form.

Jim Cummings did a great job, but actually, if you watched the Sonic Sat AM show back in the 90s, that's the exact same voice the used for Dr. Robotnik. Awesome, and absolutely creepy, but yeah, same voice.
