So the actual initial purpose of putting the compost there was because I noticed that it was not very level so I wanted to add dirt to level it out. Instead of adding dirt, which does nothing for your grass, I like to add compost because it will add nutrients to your grass in addition to leveling a spot out. Compost is nice because since it is all natural, it will not burn your grass, regardless of how much you use. If I have spots in my lawn starting turning yellow, then I also put compost on it (as a way to narrow down what is wrong with the grass). If the compost helps it, then I know it was just a lack of nutrients... if it does not help it, then I know I probably have a fungus or it is drying out to fast b/c of lack of watering of soil compaction. I always keep a few bags of compost in my garage. The compost I buy is $1.94 at Lowes for a 40 lb bag, so it is a cheap solution.
My friend I ave st Agustín grass, but in some places is like yellowish and in other parts is nor growing like I want it to grow,, I want that st Agustín thick... I water it 2 times a day because it's very hot were I live thank you
I gave a detailed explanation of how you need to water on the other video's comment. In regard to yellowing grass, I have a couple videos on that but let me explain what to do. Yellowing St Augustine grass is usually one of two things, a fungus or lack of nutrients. If your grass is going yellow and starting to look florescent or almost translucent, then you most likely have a fungus and you need to use a fungacide to kill it. You will want to do this soon to ensure it does not spread, b/c it will continue to spread throughout your lawn if you do not get it under control. Also, if this is in your front lawn, and it is not a fungus, it could be lack of nutrients b/c of large shade trees which are sapping the nutrients from your lawn. Those are the most common two reasons we have yellowing St Augustine grass.
Nice recovery!!! You mentioned compost what does that do for the lawn? Do you use it all over the lawn or just in parts?
