We have a crimson gecko. He’s pretty like the gold dust. I love crested geckos. I love to be able to pick up my pets from time to time. My husband loves the super colorful ones that don’t really like handling. He just loves watching them. My son has two leopard geckos that are pretty. I’m hoping to find a pretty gecko that is ok with an occasional handling so my husband and I can both have our wish.😃
Great list! I keep a pair of underwoodisaurus/nephrurus milii myself and they are one of my favorite reptile species. You just gotta love those little facings looking up at you when you open the enclosure!
Thank you very much for watching. N. milii are soooo very underrated. They are little puppy dogs and are as cute as a button. Have you ever seen a newborn? OMG! (and I think that is the first time I've ever typed OMG)
I think the two that I want the most are the pictus geckos and the androyensis. Good list! I hadn't heard of a lot of the honorable mention geckos until now but the viper gecko and skunk gecko really caught my eye they look amazing!
Nice video. I have not heard of a lot of these geckos. Was actually surprised that the crested gecko was not higher but I can completely understand after watching the entire video.
Great video Wally! As you are someone who has so much experience keeping and breeding so many different kinds of geckos its fantastic to hear your top picks and why. Its also very interesting to hear names and see geckos that I have never seen before! I would love to see a video, if you haven't already done one, on keeping micro geckos, pros, cons, differences between keeping micro geckos compared to larger sized geckos. That would be really interesting. I also thought of another idea for you, egg hatching videos! I know it might take some time to complete, but it would be soooo exciting to watch little baby geckos come out of their eggs! I love watching the hatching videos on Snake Discovery!
Liz, thank you for so much support. This means a lot. And great suggestions. I have a slide show on micros so I may break it out and use it in a video. Thanks!!
Also. Did you just mention my YT competition??!!?? How dare you! Actually, Emily (sp?) Is such a nice person. I've only met her a couple times but am a huge fan too!
@@SupremeGecko Thanks, these look amazing! Sad to find out they are critically endangered because of poaching for the pet trade, definitely a 'stay away unless you're knowledgeable and intent on breeding them' kind of gecko.
@@DCombz Absolutely. I know at least one person working with these but I too would worry about getting them and caring for them like I should. They are beautiful though.
@@SupremeGecko I wish that person the best and hope they can figure out breeding them. It's hard to combat cheapness (WC) vs responsibility at a higher cost (CBB) unfortunately.
It might be easier and quicker if you googled them. In the future though, I will try harder to do that. Unfortunately, using common names does cause some confusion (look up skunk gecko and see how many different geckos you find).
Thank you so much! I appreciate your support and hope you are entertained a bit and learn something from the content. I do have one pair of fat tails that will be breeding this year. I'll do a video on them. Thanks again for the suggestion.
I got a Barking gecko - very healthy but he is not friendly. Hisses a lot. Once I get him on my hand, he's ok. But he makes a fuss about it so I usually leave him alone. Any taming tips for a small gecko?
@@SupremeGecko i’m not sure exactly what NC species you’ve kept other than cresties and gargoyles, but i personally have gargs, chahouas, and a sarasinorum who i absolutely adore. Which New Caledonian geckos have you kept? And how come cresties made your list but your gargs didnt? I agree cresties are excellent pets and are popular for good reason, but I feel the same way about their cousins lol!
Sorry this is so late getting back to you. The list is not really a top 10 list of geckos or a top 10 NC geckos.... it's simply MY list of geckos I've kept. Example- I really enjoy the colors of gargoyle but their personality is barely above leachies, who I feel are simply big old gecko-poops :) Cresties are above gargs on MY list for their color varieties and they are a bit more 'personable' than gargs. Take no offence as everyone has their opinions and that's what makes this world great. So, why do you adore gargs so much (again, not challenging- simply exploring your opinion if you are open to the discussion.
Which gecko did I leave out that SHOULD be on the list?
Me too. Super easy to work with and simply beautiful.

Excellent Top 10 List. I don't know a lot of these animals, but enjoyed seeing the photos.
Thanks! Thanks for watching.

I love these older videos 👌🏻🙌🏻🫡
Awww Thank you! What'd ya think of the list?
Oh man!!! I cringe when watching these!

I wish I had better luck with the P. androyensis so I could distribute them better.

I love crested geckos but not at the tippy top of my list :)
I really love the gold dust day geckos.
They are a blast to work with.
Great video. Crested geckos are still my favorite.
I can see that.
Wow so many of those i had never even heard of they are all so beautiful
Thanks, and thanks for watching.
You will have to look for these geckos when you attend your next Reptile show, or visit your local pet store.
Great list! I still would love to work with the viper geckos!!
Thanks Juan for watching. I know. I love the vipers. Very simple, but way underrated gecko.

Beautiful geckos

Missing Gargoyle and Chahoua!
Thanks for watching. Nope, didn't miss them :)
Can you spell out the name of the third one you mentioned at 1:04? It's got amazing patterning and I have never seen it before.
No problem- Gonatodes daudini Those 3 are AMAZING!

Number 7 is like an electric blue day gecko right?
It sure is. Loved keeping these when I had them.
Will you please give the common names for those geckos that you aren’t keeping? My husband might really like the colorful ones. Thanks!

I been watching your playlists of other geckos rn and I was wondering do you ever think you’ll get an African fat tail gecko or breed them?

Hi Santos. Keep doing what you are doing. Always offer food after handling and it should give a positive reinforement. Good Luck
@@SupremeGecko Ok sounds good - thanks Wally
@@santosleeli Most welcome
I’m pretty sure that naultinus are illegal and the other two are pretty much non existent in the captive pet trade, which is unfortunate
They are not 'completely' illegal
👍👌
.
Forgot the Eurydactylodes!
You believe they should be in top 10 of my favorites?
They are on my top 10 :)
Out of interest, why was the crested the only New Caledonian gecko on your list?
Which other one(s) should be on my top 10 geckos I've kept?

Strophurus taenicauda - white eyed or red
Hey Michael, are you asking which one you should get?
