I absolutely adore this species! I'm getting a well started pair soon. I have previous experiences with chameleons, gargoyle geckos and crested geckos. I think I'm ready for williamsi. Thanks for all the information!
Thank you! That's why I wanted to start with them as the only thorough info out there on them is the article I wrote on them. Hopefully this video will increase their exposure.
Awesome video, exactly what the community needs for this species. Thank you for providing the info, I am very much looking forward to the breeding video!
This is my absolute favorite gecko species! I really want to breed this specific species, I just wish I had the money to invest into a nice pair or two.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge😍😍😍 Mind if I suggest adding time stamps in the description box for people who would like to revisit a specific part of the video?
I had a poster of one of these guys on my wall when I was ten or twelve. Never stopped being my ultimate dream gecko. Just acquired some baby mourning geckos, hoping they'll get me used to microgecko basic, only ever worked with snakes and larger amphibians.
@@LivingArtbyFrankPayne yeah, I definitely wanted to make sure I'm comfortable with their sort of care before I delve into a species important for conservation
Very cool set up and very beautiful creatures. Hopefully the hobby produces more breeders like you. You seem very systematic in developing care and breeding regimens. Question: How does one track exact lineage when keeping multiple females in the same enclosure? Does this cast doubt on the identity of a newborn's mother if both females lay eggs?
I don’t keep multiple females in the same enclosure. I’ve don’t it a few times but no longer do. If both females are siblings that would take care of any doubt.
@@LivingArtbyFrankPayne Thank you for sharing us the knowledge! Are you still using trio to breed? If so, will female bully each other base on their age or size?
So I know you probably get this question a fair lot, but I'll ask anyway: I have a rather big enclosure (200x80x120cm) and I was looking at geckos as inhabitants, and obviously the electric blues caught my eye because how would they not? They're beautiful! Now my question would be, as you mentioned that you should only keep one male and (maybe) a couple females in an enclosure, would several males/females in that size be okay? I know that they live in their own palmtrees in nature, with each tree being their territorium, which would obviously not be possible to recreate in an enclosure so I was wondering if it would work out! Great video, quick and easily comprehensible overview of those beauties and straight to the point!
I know I’m writing down this comment a bit too late based on the publishing date of this video but through all the research I’m doing about this reptiles’ husbandry i think this is the best detailed video i’ve found so far. I’ve got one question about keeping them together. You said you recommend to keep one male and two females per enclosure at most but, since i don’t want to breed them (because of cites conditions) is it good to keep just a single male in an enclosure or it would suffer from ‘being alone’ and not socialising with others?
I have a 16x30 in enclosure but I’m not sure what kind of light/heat would be appropriate for it. I have a zoo med mini combo deep dome with a 13w 5.0 uvb bulb and a 60w daylight blue lamp bulb that came with the dome. Are these fine to use and should I suspend the dome on top or directly on the mesh? Great video, thank you
Thank you for the in depth information. They’re beautiful little creatures. How do you keep them warm when you turn off the lights at night? Do the lights draw much electricity? ie do you find a huge increase in the electric bill? TIA
Hello! I have a 90x60x90 enclosure adapted for dendrobates auratus. It was my first vivarium, I’ve made a mistake and I’ve bought it too tall for them. The insects that I give them escaping in the top of terrarium and nobody eats them. Can I have mourning geckos with dendrobates auratus? Can you give me your advice? People keep them together. But I also have fear that they can transmit some illnesses to each other, no? Amphibians together with reptiles. What do you think about this?
@@LivingArtbyFrankPayne Hi Frank, do you remember when I set my setups 6 months ago. I am so exited now as they laid their first clutch of eggs inside of floral tube. I thought I would like to share this news with you and say thank you so much for sharing such an informative video.
Hello, I have a question. I noticed that many (most i've seen, honestly) people put Electric Blue Geckos in vertical enclosures rather than horizontal ones. I assume it's because they're arboreal. What do you think about that? Is there a reason you consider a horizontal terrarium to be better for them? Thank you in advance
and how territorial would they be against other species if I were to try to cohab them? I'm guessing it can depend a bit on their personality and what I actually pair up with them, I'm guessing any other gecko would be out of the question, possibly any other arboreal animal, but how about some south american bumblebee toads?
Holy cow! Glorious little geckos. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us.

Yes you can have mourning geckos with dendrobates.
Hello, can they be kept in the same enclosure with dart frogs?
It is possible but you must have a very strong grasp on the care of both species first before attempting to combine them.
How big the floral tubes should be?

The more horizontal space the better. As long as the enclosure is at minimum 18” tall. Of course taller is better as well.
I’m surprised the geckos need such powerful uvb with their small size!
Do you think it'd be possible keeping them in a large paludarium (well ventilated) setup?
