Dr T, I suffered a stroke 3 1/2 years ago that was caused by lung cancer that I didn't know I had. I went up and down the weight scale until I decided that good ol: diet and exercise was the best. You mentioned intermittent fasting. Just to let your audience know. It's not that hard and good for you. I also listen to you and right now do my own PT. simply because insurance doesn't go far. I'm left side affected and am continuing to work on my arm. I regained my walk, but to make this shorter, Eating right and exercising goes a long way. Btw, I beat the cancer with radiation, chemo and finally immunotherapy. Love your channel.

Good Afternoon dr. T. I had a stroke on March 1, 2024 and am working width Therapy now. I am able to walk slightly with the hemi walker, My left side has been affected by the stroke. Therapy is not helpful at all, by my insurance is not helping my situation out much neither. My son and I found your site and I am doing the workouts to the best of my ability while my son is at work, then I’ll show him what I have been doing during the day. We have ordered several items to assist me as well. I refuse to give up on myself and I must say that your videos are very encouraging and easy to follow. Thank you, Brenda

@@rehabhqofficial yeah, I have problems moving my scapula up and down properly when reaching up. It is like glued to the back and does not let me reach up and in front. I found out that massages and frequent stretching of the arm de-freeze it. I use an old golf club for this, driving my hand up to the sky and far in front. 🌞🌞 That's a big problem for range of motion of the arm. Can I ask you a question? I am able to raise my arm at this time. However, still feels very heavy and tight, although I do not have true spasticity. Could you please recommend some exercises? Also, my fingers are tight and 2nd & 4th finger ride on top of the middle finger and the little finger sticks out laterally. Thank you for all you do

Thanks for watching! Generally speaking, pain might be a sign that someone is not moving the arm correctly and in that case I always recommend working with a physical therapist to assist in relearning the correct movement. I hope that helps!

What about if your arm is just really weak the underside of the arm. Those muscles just don’t work anymore. I can reach forward but not pull back. You know things like that.

I really like your videos, I recommend them to my sister. She can walk, but still has heavy leg and arm. My concern is if it is too late for her to do these exercise after stroke 21 months. Is it possible for her to recover?

Thanks for watching! That is an excellent question. Everyone is different. Generally speaking I consider anyone in the first 2 years to be in the "early stages" meaning that she still has a TON of potential to make more progress. :) I hope that helps!

I believe so that it's not too late for her as long as she's consistent with exercising and doing passive movements to help the brain rewire itself, I am currently going through a similar situation as well and it has been 1 year since my surgery and I am trying to get off of this cane, regaing movements my left arm and left leg.

My sister had been bedridden for almost 9 years she injured a toe after a fall. She did not move enough, she kept complaining that the pull on her nerves on the legs would not let her. Years went by and the mobility just decreased more and more. After 9 years she cant lift her arms higher than 90 degrees. She says that if she goes higher than 90 degrees, the "strings" that she feel in her legs would stretch and the pain would not let her. We had tried so hard with her. She can't lock her legs open for four years already. Now, she is even having issues opening her eyes, according to her she has a sensation of metals and stones behind her eyes, throat and different parts of her body. She starts screaming out of pain that she needs a massage on er legs to prevent this sensation of "metals" running from her legs to the eyes and brain. We are just desoerate with the constant help and care she needs and do not have the means to pay. But we already had been to around 7 doctors could not find the cause, since MRIS AND CAT SCAN were normal of brain, back. Only two spurs in C1 and C3 were found in the neck. I give her a massage at times for 3 hours a day. It is very exhausting for me. But she keeps insisting that without a massage she will not be able to stretch since she feels that terrible pull on her body. We keep insisting that she needs to keep trying. But after trying one day few hours after she insists that she cant continue since it is hurting her more and more. She feels that she only has gelatin and "strings" in her muscles, nothing more. I am so desperate that at times I feel cant help anymore. My family is also helping but the care needed is constant. She can only sit on a bed for massage. According to her all other chairs pulls her muscles in the legs and very painful in buttocks. We had tried around 30 chairs for her, none works. After visiting an osteopath, she only told her that the pull behind the eyeballs is coming form the tremendous tightness in her body. But since I cant give her a massage anymore she is saying that cant continue trying to stretch. I already tried a gun massage but she does not want to use it anymore, since she feels that her muscles just becoming more like "gelatin". She is also going to a chiropractor that is treating her neck. She walk with a walker a minute or less at a time and with a terrible posture. She is 51 years old, but has the posture of an 80 year old woman when walking and sitting. Any advice on what can I do to help?

I constantly have a heavy arm, leg since stroke. When in the hospital, the doctor looked at me like I had 6 heads and offered another cat scan. I have not had any outside rehab due to losing insurance (in between jobs when stroke happened),than covid started so the free rehab shut down. I been following you, and do 2xs a day at home, plus back to work part-time. I can stretch, lift arm but notice my arm, hand gets shakey after some time. I been trying to carry purse on left side, but constantly falls down bc I do not feel on my affected side well in areas. What can I do for the shaken, heaviness, cracking sound of bone in shoulder and hip when stretching.

Hi Veronica, thank you for watching and congratulations on returning to work!! That is a HUGE accomplishment. I LOVE that you try to keep your purse on your involved side. That is the best way to get back some more "awareness" in that arm. For example, every time it falls off you know that you shoulder has dropped. I hope that helps!

I think I had a pretty bad stroke last year because my mind has been getting so tired so quickly the last11 months. But I don't want to go to the hospital because I'm afraid they'll keep me there! I don't want them trying to put me in some kind of home because I would be a bad tenant LOL so I guess maybe I'll have a heart attack sometime and it will all be over with. Goodbye cruel world. Haha and I can't lift my good arm above my chest much anymore either for the last eleven months.
