I would increase the number of chains ⛓, which in turn will add more stitches for the arm, front and back. That's how I would work mine for a larger size.

You are a little confusing, at the beginning, you said make 7 dcs in total. The chain ⛓ 2 didn't count as a stitch At the end for the back you made 8 dcs. Then you worked into the chain 2 which is not supposed to be a stitch. Beginning and end should have the same stitch count.
