    Apologies for the sorry state of my fingers, I literally rebuilt a computer before recording this and my hands were rather dehydrated/cracking the whole week. Let's just say technology is winning while I'm losing.
    Lemme know if you have any questions! Also, thoughts on the music? I don't think I've ever put synthwave in the video, it's usually lo-fi.

      @@grilin18. they’re a little too much imo. I would love a version of clickiez that uses a less dramatic angle on the leaf spring like alps blue. Imo they are like box royals where the tactility is a little too much. And I say that as a box navy user lol

    Like other new Kailh switches, I had no idea these existed until now. I've been wondering if there would ever be a silent clicky switch, and it's cool that it finally does exist!

    Thanks for the video. Other people reviewing these switches failed to mention the "feels like a clicky gone tactile" aspect of the these and your close up demonstration of the Jade's click vs the Mute's click at 15:08 was the most helpful in describing what you would be getting out of the switches. I still want to purchase them just because I don't want to annoy my coworkers but at least I am fully aware these will not be as satisfying as jades and will not be getting my hopes up.

    I like the sound of the mute jades. Like popping your knuckles, but wetter and quieter. Really satisfying. If they could come close to standard jade/white tactility while keeping the exact mute jade sound, I'd like to believe that's the switch set I'd buy for my first board mod.

    great video. I was really curious about these cause I've attempted to make "silent" box jades before by sticking band aids in them to silence the top and bottom out sounds.
    Interesting that the clickbar is somewhat dampened instead of the top and bottom, but you basically covered everything I was curious about. Keep up the great vids!

    I have these on the way right now and after watching this, makes me excited to try them out. My first keyboard had clickies and while I loved the feel, I grew to dislike the sound. I’m hoping that these will be the best of both worlds. Good video! Thanks

    as someone that has daily driven navies and likes the heavy click bar and heavy spring, i really want a mute navy. just a bit less noise and all the tactility/weight would make, for me, the perfect switch

    The mute jades have a really odd sound, it’s sort of mushy. Like dropping a wet washcloth on the floor. I’m not opposed to it but it’s pretty interesting. The next logical step is to make a full silent verion with the round, rubber dampened stem.

    i personally really like nk/kailh box jades a lot as soon as i tried them they were end game for me i have tried razer green cherry clue red brown silent red everglide water king v3 i even tried a super thocky board with some water king v3s and i just got a ducky one 3 mini classic with some reds (because they only come with cherry switches of your choice idk why because the one 2 mini came with a huge variety of different switches to choose from) but i order about 120 kailh box jades and i am instantly in love idc how loud these are they are so nice for typing and gaming end game for me!!!!!!!!

  • @oes2546
    @oes2546 2 года назад

    How accurate are they, in terms of the closeness between the tactile bump and the actuation? I'm after some switches that I'd prefer to be accurate in this regard (or at least moreso than my GX browns and gateron low profile blue's if possible). But more importantly they should be distinctly tactile while having enough resistance below the click to avoid bottoming out too easily, and I don't think I want them to be too loud. The BOX Mute Jades seems like a possible option based on the force graph, but I'm new to mechanical keyboards so I really don't know. Do you think the Mute Jade's fit this description?

  • @illitero
    @illitero 2 года назад +1

    I expect it would require a different, more durable material to be used with the dampener to use the thicker click bar; otherwise they'd be released alongside the Jades, you know?
    Ever since clickbars were released and I poked around at them, I needed to have them used for tactility while muting them haha. I originally played around with tape on the point where the bar slaps the housing, but nothing I tried stayed in place. I next thought to dip the looped ends in some kind of silicone, but never tried it out and forgot about that tedious mod. Until now. Maybe try it out?

    Just a thing popped up in my head: how do they compare against box pink? Even if they use thiccbar like jades, if they don't bend them then ultimately the tactility would be more similar to box pinks right?

      I’ll test it when I’m off work.

    • @toufusoup
      @toufusoup  2 года назад +1

      The tactility is sharper on the Mute Jades. BOX Pinks are more linear in travel with the gradual release of the stem from the clickbar. Mute Jades are a sudden hitch, like, well, again, a BOX Royal.

  • @green--apple

    How do they compare to tactile switches? Would you consider these more similar to tactiles?

    • @toufusoup
      @toufusoup  Год назад

      Yes. In the video, I made the distinct weird comparison that these felt like when Kailh BOX Royals turn clicky. It has that sort of weird feel.

  • @ManFromLaBamba
    @ManFromLaBamba Год назад

    The mute jade click bar end is bent differently than the box jade/navy which also helps with the muting but changes the tactility as well.
    I find mute jades also have very large variations in tactile feel from switch to switch (most are pronounced but some very low tactility) and vary when the tactility starts (most have pre travel but about 10% have no pre travel.) I want to love them but they drive me nuts.

  • @aragami0686

    Damn I want these now, sadly 80aud shipping. Maybe i'll try putting a small piece of rubber or thick double sided tape or something on the top housing to make it more quiet like how they did it then. I actually did not realize at all that the sound is partially caused by the top housing, and here I thought it's only by the small clickbar stopper protrusion in the bottom housing

    I'm a huge fan of clickies, Box Jades are surely my favorites! But for my next build I kinda want to a make more quiet build, but still have very great tactile feedback. Have my eyes on these Mute Jades and also the NK Blueberries atm. How do you think those 2 differ from each other?

    • @toufusoup
      @toufusoup  2 года назад +1

      Mute Jades feel like BOX Royals when they’ve turned clicky. NK Blueberries/Cream Tactiles are not quiet but have excessive tactility. I feel if you want a quiet build with feedback, use Boba U4 switches.

      @@toufusoup Thanks for the recommendation! I tried Boba U4 before, but it's too quiet for my preference 😅 I do want some kind of audible feedback too with a keystroke. Blueberries intrigued me because it's heavy and has that double bump I'm very curious about, but I'm also curious about the Mute Jades. Thanks again for the recommendation though!

      No problem! Honestly, if you want something relatively subdued in sound but still decently tactile I feel any tactile that isn’t a long pole probably will fit the bill. That, or just follow your gut with the choices you’re thinking of lol

  • @halfassedfart
    @halfassedfart 2 года назад

    Do you think it might be worth modding existing Jades or Navies with the new top housing, or is that entirely too extravagant to consider?

    • @toufusoup
      @toufusoup  2 года назад +1

      I tested with both Navy and Jade as shown in the video-as it stands they don’t fully mute the click anymore so it just sounds like an ever-so dampened clicky. I’ll do more experimentation but personally I think it’s a tad too extravagant unless you manage to snag either one or the other switch type in the cheap.

    • @halfassedfart
      @halfassedfart 2 года назад

      @@toufusoup Fair, I was wondering if you thought that's worth doing for a whole board. I love the clickyness but other people around me don't, and I'd be happy to trade a bit of tactility for a decent bit of muting.

  • @bryo4321
    @bryo4321 2 года назад

    These seem great. I like my box royals, but the way they are designed makes it have that "collapse" so instead of a sharp tactility is feels kinda overpronounced and clumsy/rattly compared to the clickbar tactility. This looks like a similar idea but i bet they feel much better and sharper than royals.

    I don’t think they’re similar to Hako Royals. I used to daily drive them and I have some with me. The Hako Royals have a bigger, rounder, and smoother tactile bump. I honestly don’t like the Mute Jades so far lol. I’m still going to deck one of my boards with them some time in the future.

      Yeah, I just tried it, the Hako Royals are the ones with the black bottom right?
      It's honestly more like a standard BOX Royal, but to be fair I think you get where I'm coming from?

    There are two things going on here
    One: The name is definitely misleading, because it does not have the tactility of a jade clearly
    Two: You had a misconception with this switch concept going into it, the idea behind it was always to have the tactility of a click bar, but no click, it was never to have it be a silent switch. Your proposed hybrid solution is against the concept of the switch.
    I do agree that while the mute jades accomplish providing some tactility from the click bar while removing the click, they did not succeed enough with the tactility. I think more can be done to make a silenced clickbar switch - although this is a positive first step. I've done extensive testing when the click bar switches first hit the market trying to silence the click with reasonable success, but nothing that was consistent enough to be worth the hassle. I actually had a discussion with Mike at NK about making a silenced click bar switch a few years ago.
    Also - I spring swapped the mute jades with box white switches which made the tactility a lot more apparent and they feel way way better imo.
