3:18 your analogy actually perfectly illustrated why I WANT these switches. I DON'T want a "speed bump", it just feels, to me, like linear with an "annoying obstruction". Just a small correction for you: the Royal stem is the same as newer retooled BOX brown stems. The BOX brown stems you compared them to in your video are the older style browns stems.
Nice, didn't know BOX browns were retooled. Then why would someone pay $0.5 for these BOX royals while you can pay $0.3 for the BOX browns? I thought Mike paid for the toolings for these switches and that's why it's mroe expensive than what he usually has.
This is a fantastic review. I love the way you use other materials to try to describe the feeling. I am huge zealios fan, and was thinking about trying out the royals, so I was happy to find you review and save myself some time and money.
You can tell that JYMV definitely does not like clicky switches. I saw Mike from Novelkeys mention somewhere on Reddit that they were designed to feel like a clicky swtich, so that's probably why he doesn't like them.
@@jae6515 Clicky swtiches have a very sharp tactility; as far as I can interpret that is what they were trying to recreate in a tactile switch. Why do you say that they feel like MX Brown? The tactile bump in Royals is much larger than that.
That's good to know! I have a single switch of these and love it but I can feel you about them being exhausting on a whole keyboard. Which switches did you end up with?
You articulated the articulation well and specified how it affects your experience, this helped form a decision for me. I think the paper on the sock or bubblewrap both gave perfect representations of a keypress experience and helped me consider what kind of key feel I like without having to listen to a dozen keypress videos and just wonder whether I want more or less thoc. Reminds me of shopping for a pen and paper by aiming for a specific scratchiness instead of focusing on what part of that physical feedback lends to the experience you want. This was well presented and informative. Thank you.
3:48 exactly this is why i chose them. i love this feeling. its like therapy. popping bubble wrap any time you write something just feels so good to me. with most other switches i barely feel the tactile aspect. should have called them "infinite bubble wraps" or something :D
You seem to be basing some of this review on the assumption that typing a word on these switches objectively doesn't feel like a fluid experience, and hitting each key objectively feels like its own ordeal, meaning that the people who likes these switches must value extreme tactility at the cost of a cohesive experience. Has it occurred to you (and I actually mean that as a sincere question for you to consider, not a snarky rhetorical question) that some of the people who like these sorts of switches might actually like them because they *do* find them fluid and smooth to type on? For me, typing a word on an ultra-tactile keyboard feels both fluid and powerful, like dropping a handful of dice in a tabletop game. Which switches make for a smooth and cohesive experience is ultimately as subjective as which switches feel "right" to type on. For me, linear or mildly tactile switches don't feel fluid at all, because the lack of tactile feedback makes me feel like I haven't properly hit the key, so I'm constantly feeling like I'm making typos; it just depends on the person, so I kind of feel like you're stating your opinion as fact here. Other than that, this was a very good review, and it helped me decide to order a sample of these switches as I decide which ones I want for my first DIY keyboard!
Do you know exactly what switches those are in order? I'm still fairly new to all this so I'm struggling to work out which is which. As far as I can tell it's MX Brown, ???, Zealios?, MX Clear, then Box Royal at the end with standard membrane keys beneath them?
Great review man. Thank you. I was looking into buying those switches because i love tactile switches. I always thought there is no such thing as too tactile switch. Untill I tried bke domes on my fc650c. It was very unpleasant rough experience which defeats the purpose of topre.
These are the only tactile switch that I think lives up to the hype, but everyone else seems to feel differently. I thought Zealios sound nice and are really smooth, but they are barely tactile to me. I do agree that Royals feel a bit like rubber dome though (I've never tried Topre, so I can compare to that). Mine are in a plastic case keyboard though, which I think may soften the feeling. I'm curious how they would feel in a really rigid aluminum keyboard. I'm using SA keycaps, which "take the edge off" of extreme weight and tactility in my opinion. Maybe try some different profile keycaps and see if your opinion changes at all.
Your description of the tactility is so dead-on! It sounds/feels a bit like I'm clicking a mouse button, but with much more travel. I've lubed and done the trampoline mod on mine, so you mainly just hear the click and minimal ping or bottoming out. I really like the box royals for one-shot layer/modifier keys. It makes it incredibly obvious I've hit a one-shot vs regular key, both with the tactile feel and the sound, so there's never a question if I've hit one of those keys. It really makes it feel as if I've engaged something when hitting the box royals, while remaining much quieter than the Kailh clicky switches. in comparing them with Kailh clicky switches, I notice that the audible click on the box royals is louder on the upstroke than the downstroke (cli-CLICK), while the clicky switches from Kailh are the opposite (CLICK-clock). I'm not sure why, but to my brain, that makes the box royals sound more natural when used as a toggle. I'd like to try a full keyboard of them, but I agree that while it would feel great, it'd probably be pretty tiring.
@04:58 My impression is that InputClub was shooting for the mainstream Topre feel with the Hako's design, not the BKEs so not sure it's a really fair comparison. Has Mike (of Novelkeys) and/or Kailh said what their inspiration was with the Royal design? If I had to guess I'd have said a tactile SKCM Alps (an Orange or Salmon.)
Thanks for the excellent review. I enjoy tactile switches and my favourites are zealios and box jades. Was quite hyped for these box royals initially. After hearing some of the reviews and yours, I think I will stick to the zealios which are much more balanced.
The BOX Royals feel more similar to the Jades than to the Zealios. They do not feel more tactile than the Jades, and they are more crisp than Zealios when the force drops. They are the closest quiet alternative to the Jades, although not as satisfying to press. If you are fine typing on Jades, these are worth a try.
Remember, it may not be your thing, but mechanical keyboards are all about customization and these switch manufacturers are there to fill all the niches for us gamers, typists, or normal people!
I do want to try these mostly because of my extreme distaste for Cherry Browns. Once I tried Black Alps on a Dell AT101, I went, Wow, an actually tactile tactile keyboard! It doesn't feel mushy like Cherry Browns, even if the feel of Black Alps is still very strange. Given how custom keyboards nowadays are just Cherry clones I bet an extremely tactile switch will get me tactility from them
I haven't gotten a chance to try out the production version of the box royals, but i did receive a sample of it when Mike was sending out samples and i agree with a lot of what you say. at first i was really impressed but also somewhat disappointed, the "blast through a wall" feel of it really didnt feel that great.. i was hoping for a more rounded bump than a sharp fall and i LOVED you analogy of driving over a speed bump it's actually really accurate! I haven't tried a lot of switches in my life, but eveer since i tried the hako clears i fell in love with them and use them as my daily driver, they feel extremely solid and reliable, i love the gradual increase of resistance to a whopping 90g for bottoming out... makes the travel waaay smoother and really helps not slam my fingers down. now im like really torn on what other switches to get to use for my other keyboard, i wanna try new switches but i love the hako clears so much i dont even wanna use something else lol :D
I also bought these and thought the description in the video was spot on. The tactility is way too much to the point that they feel "binary". When the tactility is so high that my fingers bottoms out, there is no point in me using the switch because I use the tactility to tell me when the key is actuated.
I love hako violet for its subtle and smooth bump. I think people are confused about having more tactility equals to better switch and keeps on shitting any switch that does not have the tactility of driving over a mountain.
zong feresthe it's not that simple, we have two extremes here: on the one hand you have Royals which are probably TOO tactile for a lot of people... However, the tactility of Hakos is so slight that for most people it's not enough. I wish we could have a BOX switch that was somewhere between BOX browns (still not tactile enough for my taste) and Royals (too tactile). I think what they did with Royals feels like they just maxed out the tactility as much as the switch could support which is really only good for bragging rights of "most tactile", it's not really pleasant to type on.
Thanks for the review, I have been really debating on grabbing some for a build. I am leaning towards the Jades now instead to use the new keyboard at work.
Exactly my take on the box Royals when I was first introduced to them at a meetup. They are too sharp and don’t really have the balance presented in Zealio switches. Does makes me wonder if I am moving towards linears haha
Damn good switch review, definitely subbing! Although I have to disagree with your opinion of the Royals. I do agree that they are getting close to being distractingly tactile, but personally I do not think they cross the line. Of course I am a very heavy handed typist with a strong preference towards switches over 70g, which is why I think the Royals work well for me. The spring weighting on the Royals is not as high as I usually prefer but, the extra resistance of the tactile event makes up for that to me. I agree they are a less fluid experience than typing on any other tactile MX switch, but that is not necessarily a bad thing IMO. If you have any experience with tactile ALPS they are a very similar typing experience. In fact I would say the Royals remind me of brown or orange ALPS the most. Your comparison of Royals to BKE redux domes is a fair one, but IMHO BKE redux domes have a less distracting tactile event so I feel the ALPS analogy is a closer one. As far as typing on Royals goes, I completely get how you could feel that the tactility is a distraction & how that slows your WPM down. For me though it does not affect my typing speed & I find the high tactility to be a pretty enjoyable typing experience. Again I really think that comes down to my personal typing style & switch preferences. Royals are definitely not for everybody & not anywhere close to the Zealio replacement a lot of us were hoping for. They are however a very unique switch I would encourage everyone to try, but the keyword is TRY. I would not recommend anyone to order a batch without trying them first because of how different the feel is compared to all other tactile MX switches.
This review is spot on and mirrors my sentiment on these switches. They just feel too jagged and are too distracting. Furthermore, they helped me understand what I actually wanted out of tactile switches. I greatly prefer a swell in the keystroke like a cherry implementation (zealios 67g are kings of that space), and not the sharp feeling that all BOX switches seem to share (I think they are implemented this way because due to the reduced travel in the switch over a cherry design, they can't really place that bump further down and make it work). I love the hako violet springs, but they share the same sharp tactility (to a lesser degree of course) of the other BOX designs that really contribute to an interruption in my typing flow. I even prefer BOX pale blue over navy's due to the same affect.
I have to say, after putting a 60% board together with Box Royals, they don’t feel anything like a set of Brown Alps, not even close. They’re certainly nice tactile switches though and I’m going to enjoy them!
older vid I know but for anyone interested after the break in period the bump becomes a lot more pleasant. I'm not sure if I'm just used to them now but comparing the feel a month in to when they where new the difference is noticeable, its still extremely tactile but the harshness has calmed down, am assuming its due to the plastics rounding off a bit. At the beginning I'd notice tingling in my fingers after excessive typing from the bottoming out, but I guess with them easing up and becoming familiar I don't use excessive force anymore so the bottom outs for me are much less severe. Definitely my fave switch. :)
Thanks, I now know I don't want these. The explanations really helped me understand how wrong these would be for me, too much resistance and then nothing.
It’s not quite nothing. It is more like a Cherry MX Blue but with a stronger upstroke, which is like a BOX Jade. You don’t have to bottom out, but it is easy to.
I absolutely love my box royals. Just the perfect amount of tactility for me. I can easily go over 170 wpm with these and not once have I ever found it exhausting to do so.
There is no such thing as too tactile. Why don't you just get linears? This is probably the best SOUNDING MX style switch i've ever heard, almost on Alps level goodness tbh. Also that tactile bump on the slider is huge!
??? This BOX Royal hardly has a sound. The clickbar switches sound better than Cherry MX Blues, but I still prefer the deeper sound of Matias switches. I put click leaves in the quiet click switches, and they sound amazing. The clickbar is so loud; I don’t know how practical that is.
I totally agree with your general opinions on royals... Been using them por 5 days now and I kinda noticed that this is tooo tactile for me. It's the first tactile swtiches that I test, and it was kinda overcomit I think. I'm looking around if someone has any thoughts after lubbing them. Don't know if any of you got some other tactile or linear switches recommendations (I've only used gatheron reds and this ones, maybe some softer tactiles or some other heavier and smooth linears)
Could not agree more with your review of these switches. I totally bought into the hype of these before they came out, also was dissapointed. Ended trading them for random mx switches to harvest the cherry tops, that's all they were worth to me.
I feel like the Glorious Pandas do not have enough tactility (its good but i want more ). I have Box Royals and Box Jades on the way for my birthday. The wait is killing me. Its only 2 weeks but it actually feels like an eternity. On the brightside I feel amazing everyday just waiting for the switches to arrive so idk.
Both just arrived. Literally yesterday. I'm heavy handed and aside from cherry and some outemu swtiches i've only tried Glorious Pandas. Which I did not find tactile enough Box Jades - Quite tactile though it feels to me like the tactiliy goes away as time goes on. I also can't put up with the sound for prolonged use. Box Royals - I've just found my new favourite switch. The rounder tactility feels better to me than the Jades. They're also way quieter than I expected they are even more quiet than glorious pandas for some reason. Though the click issue that the Box Royals are known for are starting to appear and I'm curious how bad it's going to get. For now Day 1 it's just a very slight click when I get really close to the keyboard. Aside from that it's quieter and more tactile than glorious pandas
More is always better to break at the top of the of the key press is how i know ive actually hit the key. I have running zelios v2 will 100gm spring the last few years. I am building a back up keyboard before backing out of the hobbie, and now I have to buy these just to see what Ive been missing. Also there arnt so many box tactiles.
Going from blues to Boba u4t's then trying blues again, I know what he means by deliberate key presses and that each key is it's own switch. But having used blues for few months you can train yourself to type with that fluid motion. It takes more effort but it's possible. But with boba u4t's it's effortless and in the beginning it felt very light compared to blues. Mx blues are also more jarring. After a while it's not as satisfying to type on. And this is because you get introduced to more premium feeling switches. It's like you enjoying a rubber dome keyboard, then a mech board, than a custom mech board. You get so spoiled that you can't be satisfied with anything less premium.
Hypothetically what if you were to mod these switches with... And much much stronger spring... I know it's going to sound silly but something that would push heavier back against that one point when you break through pushing the switch down...
You have the right idea. Tactile bumps become less pronounced with heavier springs. I think they had a limited run of something like that with the Olivia edition
Okay, so what about Box Jades and/or Browns? I think Navies will be too heavy for me, but then again, I'm more of a stabber than a toucher. Though, if I'm not in a hurry, I seem to touch type pretty well. I also game. I'm currently on some zorro blues (cheap chinese MX blue clones) and they're my only experience with mechanical so far. I've got an RK61 coming from Amazon, though, so maybe that has some better blue clones.
Jades feel similar to Cherry MX Blues, but they have a stronger upstroke than the Blues, which makes them much better for games since it doesn’t feel like the key sticks on the way up. The BOX Royals have a tactility similar to Jades and Blues, although not quite as crisp. The Royals also do not build up pressure as much as the Blues or Jades since the bump is so high. Browns will be much less tactile. They are basically linear switches with a little bump that feels more like a rumble or vibration than what you are used to. It is just enough for you to know that the key actuated. Zealios that he recommended in this video are more tactile than Browns, but they are nowhere near Royals or Blues.
I have a sample Royal with the bump at the top. It doesn’t feel linear. It feels like it gives out from under your finger almost like a Matias click or BOX Jade switch. But, you do not get the satisfying build up of force before it gives out due to the low travel.
I think I'm an outlier when I say I wish there was something out there that were MORE tactile and heavier... I slapped 80g springs in mine, and it basically kinda mushed out the tactility, while adding weight to key presses, not really what I wanted MORE. TACTILE. Does it exist?
It's weird, Box Royals were really a let down for me. They feel pretty much linear, the tactility is not strong enough at all. So far the only good tactile I've tried are the Outemu Silent Sky. They feel like rubber domes. Not as good as topre, of course, but what is? Halos also felt linear. T1's I haven't tried yet... but I can't imagine the tactility is there.
Alps orange/brown/neon green should be up your alley then if you don't want mx switches. Hako clear/true royals and any kailh box clickbar switch might be worth a try as well.
@@SimGunther Haven't tried alps, they seem to be hard to get into. The Hakos didn't feel tactile enough. You're spot on with the Kailhs, though. I ended up settling on Box Navy. I didn't really want a clicky switch, but the Box Navy's have the exact feel I was hoping for so I was willing to get used to the noise. On my secondary board I still have the Outemus Silent Skys, which fulfill the rubber dome feel I've been trying to find.
Klisk I bought Matias quiet click switches and put the clicky leaves in Matias Clicky switches into them. They have similar tactility to the Navies, but with a lighter spring (more like the Jades). But, they are much quieter. Unfortunately, they are not compatible with MX keycaps and are not very reliable switches. So, now I am getting either BOX Royals or BOX Jades. The Royals are quite crisp, more than most bump-based switches, but they are not as satisfying.
Have you tried the hako royals now? soon after the box royal, Mike released the hako royal premade instead of having to make them yourself. i was waiting so anxiously for the royal hoping it would be the holy grail of tactile but i was very disapointed, i agree with you about like hitting a speed bump, when i tried the hako royals however i absolutely fell in love, they have been my daily drivers for over a year now with no fail, they are the best tactile feeling switches i ever tried (i never tried holy pandas because they are hard to come by and expensive ). I bought an hhkb today because ive been in love with the topre bump and sound when i first got into the hobby and tried them at a meetup, but after using hako royals for such a long time now that i have the hhkb i was somewhat disapointed since it's not as snappy as the hako royals for me, but other than that i love the hhkb and the sound is just beautiful.
Yea but that cutout doesn’t make the lighting better then the slope it had. The reason mx switches have that cutout is because of the through switch led
Another great video! Your camera work is getting better too, with more consistent pans and stuff. Obviously it's not the most important factor in an informative video like this but still, it's cool to see that you're improving. Keep it up! :) Also, Clueboard review soon? They're finally available again and I still haven't decided if they're worth all that money. Since I live in Sweden it would cost me a small fortune to build one due to import taxes and so on... :(
I got my package of Box Royals through in the post. Much like you, I thought they felt similar to the BKE domes. I tried these side by side and they they were nearly identical except for the harsher bottom out of the Box switches because of their solid plastic deisgn compared to the cup rubber which you bottom out on. The Box switch itself stock was really nice however lubing the slider, bottom housing, top housing and spring took it to a whole new level. The ping of the spring disapeared entirely and the stems scratchy sound also disapeared. The harsh edge of the tactility was taken down a bit also. My next upgrade is going to be heavier springs from SPRiT. I have already tested his 65g,70g, 80g and 90g springs and they help dramatically with the harsh bottom out sound as his springs are designed with a cushioned bottom out in mind.
I do have a video on Hako True, and I do hypothesize on the other two weightings. I haven't tried the Clears or the Violets yet, but I don't think I'll make a video on them unless I either really like them or hate them
For review purposes, it's probably better to use "very tactile" or "highly tactile" or something similar. "Too tactile" is all subjective, for lots of people who love tactile switches, this is probably just the right amount of tactility. Putting the title as something like "highly tactile" would let the people who want tactility know this might be the switch for them, and at the same time, let those who prefer lighter or less tactile switches know this isn't the one for them. Just my two cents in terms of how you frame your perspective on these switches to be a little more unbiased.
I don't think there's a single best. I think I tend to like less tactile switches than other people, so I like the mx Browns and zealios V1. But I know a lot of people like box Royals and zealios V2
I can't make any comparisons at this point since the only Alps switch I've tried is White, but I've seen people make parallels between them and Kailh Tactiles so I assume there is at least a little bit of similarity.
I have only tried Matias switches, so I cannot comment on all the different ALPS switches. BOX Jades are clicky and feel quite close to Matias clicks switches. BOX Royals feel more similar to them than any other tactile switch. They have a drop off in force after the bump that is similar, although not quite as crisp as the Jades. However, the BOX Royals drop off much higher in the stoke, so they do not feel like pressure builds up and, then, quickly releases; they just drop out. I find that less satisfying, but it isn’t objectively bad. They have a strong upstroke unlike other highly tactile switches like Cherry MX Clear or the clickly Cherry MX Blue.
Wait a minute. You type with your palms in the air, too like the other man I saw in another DIY mechanical keyboard. I am trying to avoid mechanical keyboards because they are too thick. Do most mechanical keyboard users type with their palms in the air?
I haven't tried Burnt Orange in a keyboard yet, but they're very different, primarily due to the tactile intensity. The Royals are much much more tactile. They both have their bump way up at the top though
The only alps I've tried is white, which more resembles kailh clickbar switches. I recently acquired a Model M, and the only thing similar about this and that is the stiffness. I think the royals are more tactile than buckling springs or white alps
IMO there is nothing beats clicky switch typing feedback, there are many switch with click sound that feels almost like linear, except with audible click ,offering less vatigue while typing. but you will be stamped as an ashole for using that type of switch on workspace
3:18 your analogy actually perfectly illustrated why I WANT these switches. I DON'T want a "speed bump", it just feels, to me, like linear with an "annoying obstruction". Tri The magic of Box Royals is in the housing not the slider. They made the little nub the slider pushes on take more force to push aside.
The extra tactility in Royal switches comes from the contact leaf. The stem isn't new.

The analogy of punching through an index card is spot on. I loved a single switch when I tested it, but on a whole board it's exhausting.

Very good analogies. I think it explained the travel experience well.

I got a switch tester from Kono and honestly, you hit the nail on the coffin with the big pothole analogy.
Your analogy of switch feel gave me a good idea of the experience. Thanks!
your examples on feel are great. thank you.
3:01 Nice chart! It was very instructive.
Do you know exactly what switches those are in order? I'm still fairly new to all this so I'm struggling to work out which is which.
As far as I can tell it's MX Brown, ???, Zealios?, MX Clear, then Box Royal at the end with standard membrane keys beneath them?
@@Jacksaur_ don't forget Topre
Maybe try some different profile keycaps and see if your opinion changes at all.
zealios v2 are here. They are VERY tactile.
indeed these are very similar to 78g zealios v2, except for the upstroke feel @@lmarcii
I was curious about box royals and left a subscriber. Great in depth and to the point review. Cheers!

Bro! Amazing job explaining the tactility. Super good work on that.
I am among the weird people who find it perfectly tactile enough.
Thanks for the review, I guess Zealios is for me after all.
For the record, violets are the most tactile of the hako line and I would argue they're more tactile than browns.
It's really a matter of preference. Some people love driving over that mountain with every press of a switch, others don't
You're telling me these switches feel like popping bubble wrap... ?
hell fucking YEAH
Thanks for the review, I have been really debating on grabbing some for a build. I am leaning towards the Jades now instead to use the new keyboard at work.
Do your co-workers hate you yet?
"Too tactile" my ass :P I don't agree with you here. I think they feel perfect. Very alps like.
Richard Smith would they compare to something like brown alps?
yes they would. They are the closest you can get right now to the alps tactility with mx switch.
I have to say, after putting a 60% board together with Box Royals, they don’t feel anything like a set of Brown Alps, not even close. They’re certainly nice tactile switches though and I’m going to enjoy them!
@@howard81 LMarci has obviously never tried brown alps. These wouldn't even feel like Alps
@@treeleaf6471 he asked IF they did. You don't need to try and grill him on it.
older vid I know but for anyone interested after the break in period the bump becomes a lot more pleasant.
I can easily go over 170 wpm with these and not once have I ever found it exhausting to do so.
bet medium tactiles feel like linears for you
There is no such thing as too tactile. Why don't you just get linears? This is probably the best SOUNDING MX style switch i've ever heard, almost on Alps level goodness tbh. Also that tactile bump on the slider is huge!
Fenix Lolnope Kailh Navy beats it in sound, same w/ jade and white IMO
I use dim mak on my keyboard, so these sound like the right kind of switch for me.
Most dangerous keyboarding known to man. A-S-Dim moK. 😁
Which I did not find tactile enough
Box Jades - Quite tactile though it feels to me like the tactiliy goes away as time goes on.
Outstanding review! Thank you. Subbed.
This is why I’m going to have them on my enter, shift, and backspace and having pro purples and hako clears for typing.
You described the switch feeling so visible, nice
Sounds great for my heavy artisan acrylic space bar!!!
Just got a full set of these for my Drop ALT and let me tell you: by far the best tactile switches on the market.
I have these switches. I gonna have to say, they are pretty nice, but it just feels like a clicky switch that you could control the volume of.
Really enjoy your switch reviews would really like to see more
Okay, so what about Box Jades and/or Browns?
Problem with box switches is if the bump is too high then it just feels linear.
I slapped 80g springs in mine, and it basically kinda mushed out the tactility, while adding weight to key presses, not really what I wanted
MORE.
Klisk
I bought Matias quiet click switches and put the clicky leaves in Matias Clicky switches into them.

I'm buying kailh box royals right now! Thanks the video.

Very nice review, do you think a spring swap (for a lighter spring) will make it feel less like hitting a wall?
darknight0z I've actually heard that adding heavier springs is what helps.
That would, but the switch would feel quite heavy and probably less crisp if you did.
Another great video! Your camera work is getting better too, with more consistent pans and stuff. Obviously it's not the most important factor in an informative video like this but still, it's cool to see that you're improving. Keep it up! :)
Also, Clueboard review soon? They're finally available again and I still haven't decided if they're worth all that money. Since I live in Sweden it would cost me a small fortune to build one due to import taxes and so on... :(
amazon trolling my navy order with these so im here
lol chopping up lines on the scale hahaha.
Maybe the most tactile switch without loudly click sound in current market.
Great review. I really got a sense of what to expect from these switches. What would you say is the closest mechanical switch to regular 45g Topre?
how about the rest kind on kailh box such as Hako Clear Hako True Hako Violet, will u make a video reviewing about it?
Just my two cents in terms of how you frame your perspective on these switches to be a little more unbiased.
which one is the best tactile switch in you opinion?
I don't think there's a single best. I think I tend to like less tactile switches than other people, so I like the mx Browns and zealios V1. But I know a lot of people like box Royals and zealios V2
JYMV thanks^^
You can hear the tactile bump in the sound test
Nothings ever too tactile for me, i like the feel of membranes >:)
would you say that the box royals are like some really tactile ALPS? sharp bump at the top, virtually no resistance afterwards..?
I can't make any comparisons at this point since the only Alps switch I've tried is White, but I've seen people make parallels between them and Kailh Tactiles so I assume there is at least a little bit of similarity.
This is how I would describe it. It basically feels like Orange Alps with a heavier bump.
cool. cheers for that. based on your (and others') assessment alone i'd say i have to try them.
" really tactile ALPS"
Not really, I think my orange alps are slightly more tactile, but those are lighter. These are like slightly heavier alps.
Really good video.
Wait a minute. You type with your palms in the air, too like the other man I saw in another DIY mechanical keyboard. I am trying to avoid mechanical keyboards because they are too thick. Do most mechanical keyboard users type with their palms in the air?

How does this switch compare to box orange, which is considered a heavy switch?
