    Yes, a nice presentation, with more than just observations.
    I have had my Huawei GT 2 Pro since 30 January - only three weeks - I am very happy with it to the extent that I bought my wife the GT2 a week ago and she is pleased with everything so far.
    I believe it is not so important about its accuracy but its consistency. What we are looking for, I think, are patterns of our activities, heart rate etc that allow us to understand ourselves and to make adjustments as we feel necessary to progress towards our goals. One thing I have discovered, is that light sleep is sometimes interpreted from stillness and eyes closed but not what I would call actually asleep. I am not concerned about this - other aspects of my sleep patterns are in the normal range.
    I am a cyclist and at the same time as wearing my watch, I have a separate app that measures, distance and time - at the end of a workout, both are just about identical in measurements.
    The sound quality from the watch is exceptional for something so small - I don't use for listening to anything much but I am impressed. With blue tooth earbuds it would be top notch.
    One amusing thing. When I am sweeping leaves in the garden, I am invited to start a workout - skiing! I live in Thailand where there is never any snow or ice, even on the mountains.

      Hey, nearly a year later I see your remark. I bought the GT2 Pro too after my GT2e fell to the floor and the glass broke. But everything you experience is similar to my problems with the GT2Pro. Me too live in Thailand. I bought the Watch at Banana's in Hua Hin's Market Village. After one week I brought the watch back to the shop. I had to wait six weeks before I got it back and nothing was done with it. Same bad performance: tracking started around 5 to 10 minutes after I started an excercise. Then it was ok, but I missed part of my measurments. I wanted to use it to monitor my heartrate and progress in some VR sports, but often it didn't record anything. I ended up buying another GT2e two months ago. This watch is great - especially for the price. The "pro" is now only used after sports. No other Huawei watch for me anymore... poor performance of a flagship and very shitty customer service.

    I have seen in the description there are links to buying the products online. I do not wish to detract from this - the Presenter here deserves recognition and recompense from all his efforts - but I have one more observation to make. I bought from my local dedicated Huawei store and they did everything to ensure all was well and answered all our questions and spent more than an hour with us downloading the Health App and connecting to our phones. If you are not savvy with these matters, it is useful to have someone who knows what to do if there are "complications". I am aware also that for US and Canadians there is no Official Huawei representation in those countries.

    Amazing review this is how it should be done! I was a bit surprised yours detects the wake phases so well. I personally use the magic watch 2 (which I think uses the same parts as the GT 2) but my watch completely fails to identify the wake times especially falling asleep and when in bed in the morning. As I suffer from insomnia which is also confirmed by polysomnographic sleep lab it's so weird to me it tells me I fall asleep right away when I probably take an hour or more.

You have almost the whole gamut covered in consumer wearables, would be interesting to see an amazefit gtr 2 and a Samsung watch to round it out. All this info is super useful in helping make informed decisions. Keep up the great work.

    Well, I bought the GT2pro and was very disappointed in the heart rate monitor. It is like you said, during boxing and swordfighting it is not very good and those are the main reasons I use the watch. The GT2e however has no problems with it. Also during my bicycle trips I have the feeling that the GT2 pro randomly registeres my heartrate. I like the heartrate monitor of my GT2e and my GT-81 better than the pro.

    I have a question and I hope you can answer it. Wouldn’t it be possible and better to just buy the zMax and use it for accurate sleep tracking since nearly all of these watches bad inaccurate tracking? Or am I missing something?

    • @TheQuantifiedScientist
      @TheQuantifiedScientist  3 года назад +4

      Hi Yasir, Thanks for your comment! Ideally you would wear a full polysomnography setup, even more extensive than the z-max. However, this requires a lot of effort, both in applying the device and analyzing the data. Also, these often cost thousands or tens of thousands of euros. The zmax is already a lot easier to use, but still the analyzing of the data costs some time, and the device is also not cheap. A third option is something like the Dreem 2 headband or Muse S. These are easy to use, reasonably priced and automatically analyze your sleep. Still they require you to wear something on your head. Finally, a wrist worn device is much easier, though less precise. It really depends on your goal and the accuracy you need😊 . Hope this makes sense

    • @_systemd
      @_systemd Год назад

      Ideally you wake up in the fkin morning and you a) feel like shait or b) feel well rested , that tells you how well you slept and you can get the fk up and start the day like people did for thousands of years. Or B, you can let your cheapass chinese clueless watch guesstimate how well you may have slept and feel better or worse based on that. You pick.

    Thanks for some great content. It's nice to see someone actually putting these things to the test, instead of all these useless reviews going "it has sleep monitoring, which seemed to be accurate during the time I wore it".
    In regards to your comment that heartrate tracking for high intensity workouts is bad on all wrist-based monitors, didn't the Apple watch turn in almost perfect measurements in this area? Surprised no other watchmaker have been able to replicate that so far. Also, I'm looking to mostly use a watch like this to track sports, like tennis or squash. Would you say that this watch would not be able to track those kind of activities reasonably well? Not looking for pinpoint accuracy, but my somewhat old Garmin Vivosport didn't even credit me with activity minutes after 2 hours of sweat, which ruined the whole idea of tracking your activity for me.

    Hi, i've made something similar with an electroencephalogram at one of my friends work with the gt2 pro, and when i've set the heart rate sensor ,from the huawei health app, counting continously the heart beats, not on the inteligent mode, i saw a changing in my sleep stage(unfortunetly it was for 1 night), but even in weight lifting my polar showed me both times quite accurate, different then usual, it tooks some good spikes this times..did you set it to count continously in this video?
    Cheers!

    My Huawei GT2 Pro is usually too generous with my step count in the first 10 minutes or so., but after it seems to match my step count well. Why is that, does anyone know?

    Thank you for the review, since huawei is banned in the US, it is hard to get any review from US based youtubers.

    Hello! Really enjoy all your videos! I purchased the Inspire 2 thanks to you!!! Just had a quick question in the fitbit dashboard settings for my device, I notice that my fitbit is toggled to have sleep sensitivity to normal, was wondering whether you had it on normal or did you select sensitive when performing the studies that you did for your of your inspire 2 video.

    Hi Rob, thanks for the great comparisons and all the effort you put into these. It gave me much more clarity on what device to buy. Could you share how you extracted the heart rate data for Huawei products? It seems that this is only possible by requesting the data from Huawei but I wasn't able to find any information on their website. Do you know of any app solution to gather the data / export the data from Huawei Health?
    Again, thanks for the great content and all the best wishes for you and your research!
